Le poème instrument : poésie et matérialisme dans l'oeuvre de Bertolt Brecht / The poem instrument : poetry and materialism in Bert Brecht’s work

Lahache, Florent 12 December 2011 (has links)
Initiated in 2005, this doctoral thesis in philosophy aims to study the poetry of the German writer Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956). By its title ("The poem instrument"), it means to explain a contradiction inherent in any political art, and especially emphasized in poetical writing: the one between the practice of lyrical arts, valuable per se, and the claim for a social purpose of writing, which submits it to an outside finality. By undertaking this instrumental necessity in his writing, the poet expose himself to the functionalisation of language, this very functionalisation that is supported by the market means which the poet however intends to deal with. How can poetry define itself as a tool, without abolishing the specifically artistic content of its production? How to maintain poetic consistency and political efficiency simultaneously ?This thesis examines the corpus of Brechtian poems written from the mid-1920s until the late 1940s. It aims at identifying the formal operations that the poet engages for each political moments he faces : the Weimar Republic (cynical poetry), the Third Reich (anti-fascist poetry), the second World War (the poetry of exile). We intend to show how a specific materialism is being developed, in a both inventive and dissent relation to the traditional Marxist dialectic.

Alternativní přístupy ke stanovení věcné hodnoty staveb / Alternative ways of setting the material value of buildings

Mikš, Radim January 2013 (has links)
In the process of property appraising, the material value of a building is usually set in these ways: - through a proceeding in compliance with the regulation to the law on property appraising without considering the coefficient of marketability (Kp), - through a detailed item budget or with the aid of aggregated items, - through a calculation based on technical-economic indicators (THU). In all cases, calculation of wear based on the age of the building or its parts is applicated without sufficient considering the real technical condition of the building. The thesis is concerned with working out a more precise option of the last mentioned way of setting material value of a building, i.e.on the base of price indicators. The aim of the thesis is to suggest a method of property appraising through an alternative way that would more precisely consider the real technical condition of the building and its wear. This aim can be reached by using a set of differentiated price indicators and by giving precision to the calculation of wear deduction based on evaluation of the real technical condition of defined particular parts of the building. To reach this aim, the thesis suggests a procedure of using price indicators from the Catalogue of buildings and compounds, a procedure of dividing a building into functional segments, and a procedure of setting wear deduction based on real defects of functional segments and on the level of their degradation. The thesis follows results of a grant task Optimalization of technical-economic characteristic of a building, on which the author participated in a close cooperation with the Qualiform company, RTS company and the Institute of Construction Economics and Control of VUT FAST.

A Preliminary Framework For The Selection Of Materials & Manufacturing Processes For Lunar Surface Systems Assuming Integration To A Space Circular Economy

Sanchez, Gabriel January 2022 (has links)
In-situ resource utilization and in-situ manufacturing are being actively pursued as ways to enhance the development of human activities in space. However, the re-purpose of space systems through processes like recycling, re-manufacturing, and re-use, has not received the attention it deserves given its potential to reduce the waste generated by human activities in space, improve the sustainability of space habitats, and reduce the environmental impact on Earth of human activities in space.  This dissertation explores the available life cycle analysis methodologies in order to understand how the industry treats and measures re-purposability, and what re-purposing enabling technologies are available or under development, and proposes the use of the embodied energy and derived metrics to: quantify the waste generated by a space system when reaches its end of life, how re-purposable a space system is, and how valuable the outputs of the re-purposing process are for the habitat were the system is being processed. This data can then used to provide feedback regarding manufacturing process and material selection for the design, enabling a systems architect to optimize it with re-purposability in mind.  This Design to Re-purpose methodology (DTR) is tested through the analysis of selected components of an Lunar Habitat design from Hassell Studios, to the extend possible given the early state of the design, and with some assumptions regarding the expected repurposing technologies available. It demonstrated that performs as expected for the scenario provided, and yielded useful material selection feedback, including how the value of the re-purposing output material can infuence the design to optimize its re-purposability and the subsequent value it provides to the habitat.  Further development of this methodology is necessary, as well as additional testing especially considering scenarios where the initial system is not built on Earth, for which a preliminary road map was laid down.

Posouzení vlivu stavby bytového nebo polyfunkčního domu na cenu sousedního rodinného domu v lokalitě Žabovřesky, obec Brno / Impact Assessment of the Construction of an Apartment (Multifunctional) House on the Price of an Adjoining House in Žabovřesky, Brno

Prokešová, Lucie January 2010 (has links)
The thesis focuses on the assessment of the impact of the construction of a multi-functional building on the value of a neighbouring family house in Brno – Žabovřesky. The theoretical part includes the description of the direct comparison method. The second practical part consists of the determination of the price upon the valid valuation regulation and the usual price. The aim of the work is to assess the negative and positive influences impacting the family house that would occur upon the construction of the neighbouring multi-functional building. The thesis is processed as a case study.

Towards a New Currency of Economic Criticism

Douglas, Jason G. 09 July 2008 (has links) (PDF)
“The Purloined Letter,” Edgar Allan Poe's third and final tale featuring the detective Dupin, has evoked a long history of critical response. Criticism has tended to read the text for its role in the development of detective fiction and as illustrative of various theoretical positions. However, the implications of the “The Purloined Letter,” as a tale of ratiocination, has largely been left unexplored. “The Purloined Letter” explores logical processes of value and exchange, particularly economic exchange, in a manner very similar to what Charles Sanders Peirce will call pragmatism several decades later. Dupin's deductive methods and Peirce's abductive logic express the nature of objects in terms of social systems of preference and perception rather metaphysics. Peirce's classification of signs as icon, index, or symbol provides a framework of signification which can be read in conjunction with “The Purloined Letter” to flesh out the role of materiality and value in the theory of economic criticism. Reading value and exchange as part of a social system of signs, perceptions, and representations of value will serve to expose a penchant for material fetishism in economic criticism and provide a theory of currency, value, and exchange that contextualizes representational and material notions of value within the social and economic system that provides the processes and mechanisms of value determination. The way that the Prefect, the Minister D___, and Dupin each conceptualize the purloined letter as having a different representational relationship with value can be used to demonstrate Poe's abductive framework for economy.
