: En systematisk litteraturstudie för elever i lägre åldrar / Mathematical Giftedness: How Can It Be Measured and What Characterizes Mathematical Gifted Students? : A Systematical Litterature Review for Younger Students

Rundblad, Emilia January 2014 (has links)
In this paper, the concept of mathematical giftedness has been reviewed with the purpose of unraveling how mathematical giftedness amongst students can be measured, and also, what characterizes mathematical gifted students today. To answer those two questions, the main focus has been devoted to research carried out during the 21st century, including doctoral dissertations and peer-reviewed articles. By doing that, the result of this study will clarify how mathematical giftedness can be measured, and give an insight as to what characterize mathematical gifted students, all from a research perspective. My studies agree that the mathematical characteristics of the mathematically gifted students may differ from student to student, and may be what qualities what so ever that facilitates the teaching of mathematics to students. Most studies measuring mathematical talent with performance-based funding, which contradicts their own conclusions about all mathematically gifted students is their own character and both are learning and practicing knowledge in different ways.

Estas soluções evidenciariam o componente da habilidade matemática, flexibilidade de pensamento e, portanto, características de criatividade / Abstract: This current research had a major main to investigate the existing relations between the thought flexibility and the creativity, shown during the procedures of problems solution, having as subjects 307 6¿, 7' and 8" grades students of a municipal public school in the region of Campinas, Sao Paulo. These subjects answered a questionnaire for their characterization and did a Mathematics test. From the obtained results in the Mathematics test, it was selected the student with the best performance in each grade, which were subjected to the Rorschach¿s test and to an arithmeticai, algebraic and geometric battery tests with the objective of investigating the thought flexibility, component of mathematic ability. The average grade in the Mathematics test was 0,6263 with a pattern deflection 1,0193 to the 6¿ grads, 0,4555 with a pattern deflection 1,1144 to the 7" grade and 2,0072 with pattern deflection 1,8672 to the 8' grade, being the minimum grade zero and the maximum 8,35. The data analyze showed the changeable age, grade, mother¿s scholarship, receiving help in homeworks, daily study hours, problems understanding in the classroom, preferred subject, subject liked least, subject that would be taken out of school were related to the subjects grades in the Mathematics test. The protocol enaiysis caiied as most capable showed the sixth and seventh grade weren¿t able to solve the proposed problems and the eighth grade subject with some experimenter¿s h@p, solved the problems, however the Rorschach¿s test showed creative personality characteristic in the three subjects. These solutions showed the mathematic ability component, thought tlexibiiity and accordingly creativity characteristics / Doutorado / Educação Matematica / Doutor em Educação
