Este trabalho propõe uma análise de três obras do escritor moçambicano Mia Couto, Antes de nascer o mundo, Um rio chamado tempo, uma casa chamada terra e A varanda do frangipani, com o intento de refletir sobre o modo como as identidades e memórias individuais e coletivas são representadas dentro das narrativas. Para a discussão acerca da identidade utilizou-se, entre outros, Stuart Hall, e, para refletir sobre a memória, foi adotado um estudo antropológico de Joël Candau entre outros teóricos. Faz parte, também, dessa dissertação, um estudo sobre a linguagem, o narrador, a personagem, enfim, alguns dos elementos que constituem a criação literária de Mia Couto. / The work proposes an analysis of three works of the Mozambican writer Mia Couto, Antes de nascer o mundo, Um rio chamado tempo, uma casa chamada terra and A varanda do frangipani , with the intent to reflect about how identities and memories, individual and collective, are represented in narratives. For a discussion of identity it was used, among others, Stuart Hall, and to reflect on memory, was used an anthropological study of Joël Candau among other theorists. This dissertation studies also the language, the narrator, the character, finally, some of the elements that are part of the literary creation of Mia Couto.
