Conduzida por narrativas e práticas desse sujeito, esta pesquisa descreve a trajetória biográfica de Mestre Antônio e de sua família pelo Vale do Jequitinhonha - MG - bem como seus trânsitos pelas políticas culturais brasileiras e pelo chamado "mundo do cerrado". Ao mesmo tempo, esta pesquisa é composta pela descrição etnográfica dos conhecimentos desse Mestre, um jequitinhonhense capaz de negociar com seres e entidades do cerrado a retirada de árvores, as quais são transformadas por ele em tambores e caixas de Congado - instrumentos musicais. As operações realizadas por esse sujeito desvelam novas formas de pensarmos temas como tradição, observação, ancestralidade, cerrado, instrumentos musicais e também o Vale do Jequitinhonha enquanto uma região produtora de artistas em Minas Gerais. Sem intenção de dissolver esse Mestre muito menos caricaturá-lo, esta dissertação traz os resultados de uma negociação de realidades e intencionalidades.<br> / Abstract : This dissertation presents Antônio Luiz de Matos, Mestre Antônio. Conducted by narratives and practices of this subject, this research describes the life histories of Mestre Antônio and his family by Jequitinhonha Valley - MG - as well as his transits by brazilian cultural policies and the "world of cerrado". At the same time, this research is composed by an ethnographic description of the Mestre´s knowledge. This jequitinhonhense is able to negotiate with cerrado´s living beings and entities the gathering of the trees, which he transforms in Congado´s tambores and caixas - musical instruments. The operations performed by this subject reveal new ways to think about issues such as tradition, observation, ancestry, savannah, musical instruments and also the Jequitinhonha Valley as a producer region of artists in Minas Gerais. Neither the intention to dissolve Mestre nor to caricature him, this paper presents the results of a negotiation of realities and intentions.
