Studying the Publication Pattern of Canadian Computer Scientists / Étude des pratiques de publication des scientifiques canadiens en informatique

Zhang, Li January 2015 (has links)
This study explored the publication pattern of Canadian computer scientists and compared the impact of conference papers and journal articles published by these researchers. It was found that conference proceedings are the preferred venue for scholarly communication, but the impact of conference papers is not comparable to that of journal articles. The potential reasons for the lower impact of conference papers are discussed, and possible approaches to improve the current scholarly communication system in computer science are proposed.

The coast of the Lakes Region, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, is currently undergoing a process of accelerated landscape modification, making it necessary to develop preventive conservation strategies for the coming years. A conservation measure adopted was the creation of the Parque Estadual da Costa do Sol (PECSol) - which translates to Costa do Sol Estate Park - by state decree nº 42.929 of April 18, 2011. The park covers the following municipalities: Armação de Búzios, Cabo Frio, Araruama, São Pedro d'Aldeia, Arraial do Cabo and Saquarema. The objective of this work was to analyze and diagnose the variation of the landscape between 2006 and 2016 of the area corresponding to the nucleus II named Atalaia Dama Branca with the use of landscape metrics. From the preparation of land use maps we calculate the metrics for landscape and class levels. The fragments of shrub were also analyzed for their size, shape and degree of isolation. The results obtained revealed important changes in the dynamics of the landscape during this period.

Integrated Source Code and Architectural Quality Analysis Using Neo4j Graph Database / Integrerad källkod och arkitektonisk kvalitetsanalys med hjälp av Neo4jGraph Database

Abdu, Mohammed January 2024 (has links)
In the realm of software engineering, understanding the architecture and measuringthe quality of a source code is essential for maintaining and enhancing softwaresystems. However, many existing tools fall short in evaluating architectural aspects, such as detecting architectural erosion or addressing architecture-related metrics andconstraints tailored to the unique context of their systems or organisations. Thisdeficiency restricts proactive architecture governance and hinders the mitigation ofarchitecture-related risks, creating a critical gap in the analysis of software sourcecode. This thesis presents a novel approach to tackle these challenges. It proposes a graphdatabase as a data structure for analysing the source code and architecture quality andcalculating various architectural metrics of interest. The tool developed in this thesisrepresents the source code structural elements and their relationships in the graphdatabase, enabling an intuitive analysis of the source code architecture. The tool also integrates different code quality metrics parsed from Visual Studiocode metrics results, mapped to their correspondent nodes to assess the source codeoverall quality and identify potential areas of improvement. This empowers softwareengineers and developers to make informed decisions regarding refactoring, codeoptimisation, and architectural enhancements. Furthermore, the tool allows users to define the intended architecture in terms ofmodules to reveal any Architecture erosion (AEr). It also provides the flexibility toestablish custom constraints and metrics through tailored queries, accommodating theunique requirements of their system and company. A case study conducted on a real-world software project validates the effectivenessand usefulness of the proposed approach. The case study demonstrates how the toolanalysis reveals valuable insights into the source code health and identifies patternsthat can impact maintainability and scalability. The results of this research showcasethe potential of our tool as a powerful instrument for analysing the code qualityand architecture of source code, fostering more resilient and sustainable softwaresystems.

應用Google Analytics於網站流量及 Web2.0社群網站績效表現之關聯性分析 / Utilizing google analytics to study the relationship between operating indexes and the development of Web 2.0 social websites

Hsu, Chia Wen Unknown Date (has links)
The development of Internet makes a great influence on human society and the development of Web2.0 enhances human’s dependence on the internet and becomes a channel of social connections. Currently, most contents of the Internet are generated by common users who could retrieve information through the entire network and trace their friends’ actions over the Social Network Sites (SNSs).Owing to the potential business opportunities on the internet, companies try to enter the market causing the prosperities of SNSs. Maintaining or even increasing traffic flows become a critical issue for SNSs to survive in the competitive market. However, how to evaluate the performance of SNSs based on traffic flow indices remains unsolved. This study collected Google Analytics data for 1-3 years from four SNSs’, respectively.Consider the time series charactics, this study applied “Moving Windows“ to organize the data for further statistical analysis. In addition, Exponentially Weighted Moving Average and Multiple Regression Analysis were used to detect the abnormal traffic flows. Finally, these abnormal records were compared with the important events and one-on-one interviewings with the SNSs operators were conducted. The results of this study are based on qualitative and quentitative analysis. This research studiesd four SNSs that were categorized into information-oriented and interaction-oriented services based on their services and users’ interaction. The SNSs at different categories behaved differently following certain characteristics defined previously.A performance evaluation process was developed as a reference for further studies.
