Edmond Michelet : itinéraire d'un gaulliste (1899-1970) / Edmond Michelet : Itinerary of a Gaullist (1899-1970)

Herbinet, Olivier 24 September 2018 (has links)
It is a question of studying the registration in politics of the former Resistance fighter and the transported convict Edmond Michelet (1899-1970) reaching in the political career under the Fourth and the Fifth Republic. Passer-by of the war Gaullism in the Gaullism of opposition then the political Gaullism from the return to the affairs of the State of the general de Gaulle in 1958, Michelet translates its commitment in the service of the Gaullism into narrow link with the guardian face of the leader liberator of France. Thus while putting the degree of filiation, practices and putting in Edmond Michelet's networks with Charles de Gaulle, his associates and his detractors at the top of the power as on the basis of the militant device, arises the interest of our study. This study will emphasize the importance of operational trajectories within political apparatuses and in the Gaullist environment from De Gaulle to G. Pompidou. This is the opportunity to finally question the political style of E. Michelet and the degree of impregnation of the key moments of his life (the Catholic social militants of the inter-war period, the Resistance, the deportation) adapted to the exercise of his political activities (militant and party leader; member of government, etc.).

The work La Sorcière was written in 1862 by the French historian Jules Michelet and deals with the theme of witchcraft in Europe. The work seeks to contemplate from the creation of the figure of the sorceress to a mass persecution promoted by the inquisition. Written in about two months, amid the romantic movement and in an era of interchange between literature and history, La Sorcière presents a romantic conception of the concretization of magical phenomena and witchcraft as a belief of popular resistance to the clergy and a nobility. Guided by a literary aesthetic close to the novel and with a pedagogical concern; The work turns out to be precursory of the notion of an organized cult of witchcraft like rebellion and "anti-religion". We will try to demonstrate how Michelet's romantic and pedagogical aesthetic was responsible for the idea of witchcraft as a permanence of European paganism. This idea of permanence and rebellion is responsible for practical practices of witchcraft and neopaganism. We will try, therefore, to demonstrate that Michelet can be considered, through his work, one of the forerunners of Wicca, a modern witchery. For this we will use the theories of the Aesthetics of the Reception of Jauss and the Theory of Esthetic Effect of Iser, emphasizing the last one.

Witches, Jews, and Redemption Through Sin in Jules Michelet's La Sorcière

Haziza, David January 2022 (has links)
The present study aims to bring into focus the antinomian doctrine of redemption through sin as it appears in Jules Michelet’s La Sorcière. According to Michelet, the witch-cult was both vestigial paganism and an attempt at overthrowing the Christian political order. The witch redeemed mankind by sinning against the Christian order, thus anticipating the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, as well as the French Revolution. The notion of redemption through sin, borrowed from Gershom Scholem, will enable us to compare Michelet’s and Scholem’s approaches to history and counter-history. It will also allow us to read La Sorcière against a broader religious background than is usually employed. Among the sources of Michelet, the often overlooked kabbalistic, possibly Sabbatian, subtext will be assessed in relation to his peculiar female messianism. Likewise, the episode, in La Sorcière, of the encounter between the witch and the Jew will be thoroughly studied. This may lead us to better comprehend Michelet’s theology, with the biblical God being akin, in his opinion, to that of the witches.

L’affaire Dreyfus dans l’œuvre de Proust / The Dreyfus affair in the works of Proust

Murakami, Yuji 29 February 2012 (has links)
The evolution of the theme is studied through a philological and historical examination of five important writings: Jean Santeuil (written between 1895 and 1899), « Sentiments filiaux d’un parricide » (1907), « ‘L’affaire Lemoine’ par Michelet » (1908), Sodome et Gomorrhe I and the Albertine cycle (La Prisonnière and Albertine disparue). The first part is a critical study of thirteen fragments of Jean Santeuil containing explicit references to the Dreyfus affair. The second part describes the transformation of the memory of the Affair in the writings composed between 1907 and 1922, demonstrating Michelet’s influence on the representation of the victim in « Sentiments filiaux d’un parricide », the appearance of the anti-Semitic interpretation of the Affair and the constitution of a parallelism between Jews and homosexuals in « ‘L’affaire Lemoine’ par Michelet », the achievement of Proust’s Dreyfusism in Sodome et Gomorrhe I, the critical transposition of Dreyfusard, anti-Dreyfusard and anti-Semitic discourses in the Albertine cycle, the influence of the World War I (spy paranoia, traitor hunts, mobilization of the Jews) on the description of the Dreyfus Affair in the Recherche. The chronological and factual examination is completed by the analysis of two optical metaphors used to describe the Jews in France at the time of the ‘Union sacrée’ from the perspective of long-term Jewish history: the social kaleidoscope and the X-rays.

This work intends to analyse the constitutionof the "people" besides some other themes relating to it, just as nation, class, race, mass and another historical agents in Jules Michelet's work.
