Developing a mobile application to assist people with Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder

la Fleur, Tobias, Karakitsos, Alexandros January 2023 (has links)
This thesis aims to to see if its possible to meet some of the complex needs of people with ADHD, in the form of aiding them with remembering to complete tasks and chores. Current studies have mainly focused on either assessing or treating ADHD rather than looking at aiding people already diagnosed. In order to evaluate if the needs can be met the participants of the paper are first interviewed to determine some of the needs. A mobile application was then developed based on the data collected from the interviews and later evaluated by the participants in a second round of interviews. The result of this paper showed that these complex needs can be met, in this paper the needs managed to be met with the use of mobile notifications that server as reminders and also by letting the participants prioritize the importance of the task. However the application did not fully suit all participants and had some shortcomings which could lead to further research that looks at trying to meet more of these needs, either by continued development of the application or by mapping out what the needs are.

Mevetenhet och förändringsvilja i vardagen : En studie om hur mobilapplikationer kan bidra till en mer hållbar livsstil / Awareness and will of change in the everyday life : A study on how mobile applications can contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle

Klerks, Josephine, Zetterman, Agnes January 2015 (has links)
Today smartphones and mobile applications are a part of our everyday life and information has become more accessible then ever before. The notion of sustainability was established in 1987 and is just as relevant now as then. Sustainable Interaction Design is still today a rather unexplored area, nonetheless important to examine. The purpose of this thesis is to study how mobile applications can help and encourage users toa more sustainable lifestyle. Further more we wanted to look into the awareness of people and their willingness to change their everyday life. By choosing two different mobile applications with a focus on environmental questions we have analyzed how users are allowed to be affected. The result is also based on one survey and one focus group. The resultis interpreted based on previous research by Jeffrey Bardzell and Shaowen Bardzell, Elina Eriksson and Daniel Pargman, Maria Normark and Jacob Tholander with theories around Critical Design, Vanilla Sustainability and Perfomative Design. Our conclusion is that mobile applications can help users to a more sustainable living. For users to be encouraged and affected we have defined som key factors. Pleasing aesthetics and structure are required, the information published should not be ambiguous, but clear and accurate, and the behaviour that is encouraged should benefit the user. In addition we have discovered a connection between awareness and the willingness to change.

Fang, Zih Ruei Unknown Date (has links)
Mobile applications have been widely used in life and become dominant software applications nowadays. However there are lack of systematic recommendation systems that can be leveraged in advance without users’ evaluations. We present AppReco, a systematic recommendation system of iOS mobile applications that can evaluate mobile applications without executions. AppReco evaluates apps that have similar interests with static binary analysis, revealing their behaviors according to the embedded functions in the executable. The analysis consists of three stages: (1) unsupervised learning on app descriptions with Latent Dirichlet Allocation for topic discovery and Growing Hierarchical Self-organizing Maps for hierarchical clustering, (2) static binary analysis on executables to discover embedded system calls and (3) ranking common-topic applications from their matched behavior patterns. To find apps that have similar interests, AppReco discovers (unsupervised) topics in official descriptions and clusters apps that have common topics as similar-interest apps. To evaluate apps, AppReco adopts static binary analysis on their executables to count invoked system calls and reveal embedded functions. To recommend apps, AppReco analyzes similar-interest apps with their behaviors of executables, and recommend apps that have less sensitive behaviors such as commercial advertisements, privacy information access, and internet connections, to users. We report our analysis against thousands of iOS apps in the Apple app store including most of the listed top 200 applications in each category.

Improving the Usability of a Q&A Platform : A design process based on the principles of Lean UX – adapted to a given start-up environment

Müller, Stefanie January 2019 (has links)
This Bachelor thesis is about digital tools for event organisers. The platforms offered by companies serve as digital backchannels that among other things facilitate interactions between audience and stage, for example during live Q&A sessions. This work focuses on the tasks and challenges of moderators on site and aims to develop a system that will optimise their workflows. Therefore, a tool is developed that allows moderators to conduct a Q&A session independently without having to rely on the assistance of an event organiser operating a desktop based platform simultaneously. The analysis addresses the moderator's role and tasks. It turns out that the functions of the platform relevant to the moderator can be combined in a mobile interface that is linked to it. Using a semi- structured expert interview, the feedback from clients of the start-up "Happenn" is gathered, which use the already existing platform of the company. Their platform "Happenn Live" serves as case study for this thesis. On the basis of the findings of the methods adapted to Lean UX, a solution approach in the form of a redesign of the platform and a corresponding mobile application for moderators is conceptualised. The structure and visual design of the platform follows the general design standards for desktop- and mobile-based interfaces. In this way, an improved usability can be achieved by making the platform more user-friendly for the user.

Noggrannhet och precision vid beståndsuppskattning av mobilapplikationen KATAM / Accuracy and precision in stand measurements of the mobile application KATAM

Andersson, Erik January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this essay was to evaluate the mobile application KATAM of accuracy, time, precision and practical use in comparison to volume estimation with data Digital Caliper and harvester report. The result of the diameter comparison showed similar estimates from KATAM and the Digital Caliper respectively. KATAM had a higher mean basel area, 7% and coarser mean diameter, 3.7%, compared to the Digital Caliper. KATAM also had overestimations in volume as compared to the harvesting report and the Digital Caliper concerning the mean stem, from 2.5% to 17.6%, depending on which sample areas were included and which version of KATAM was used. However, the basis of volume estimates was small and had error sources, which made the results of the measurements uncertain. Although the study shows an overestimation of the diameter, the mutual precision indicates that KATAM could be an alternative to the Digital Caliper when estimating the mean diameter.

Testing and Improving the Security of a Mobile Application / Testning och förbättring av säkerheten i en mobilapplikation

Gyulai, Sofia, Holmgren, William January 2019 (has links)
When making new software systems, security testing should always be included in the process. In this thesis, attacks were identified and performed against a system consisting of two servers and an Android application. A penetration test was also performed against parts of the system. If an attack was successful, this was considered a vulnerability. The attacks that were identified and performed were a NoSQL injection attack a man-in-the-middle attack and reverse engineering. Through the man-in-the-middle attack and reverse engineering, breaching security properties such as confidentiality and integrity was possible. The NoSQL injection attack was not successful in breaching neither. No results from these could be used to exploit the system further. Countermeasures were taken to secure against the discovered vulnerabilities, and new instances of the attacks were performed after this as well. The overall conclusion is that the system is now secure against our implementations of the attacks performed in this thesis.
