Einsatz Mobiler Apps im E-Learning

Stieglitz, Stefan, Lattemann, Christoph, Brockmann, Tobias 25 October 2013 (has links) (PDF)
The use of cell phone with the application WhatsApp as a tool in the teaching of mathematics

Schmitz, Neuri 19 December 2016 (has links)
With the objective of identifying elements that justify the didactic use of telephone intelligent (Smartphones), we conducted a qualitative research investigating the trend of mobile learning, m-learning is seen that there is a shortage of studies focused exclusively on the use of the mobile phone as a teaching tool. Rescuing research on the theme in different areas of knowledge, this research discusses the use of cell phone device smart on the teaching of Mathematics by employing the application WhatsApp. We developed, therefore, a bibliographic search where we highlight how, currently, is seen the presence of mobile in the classroom, relation the teacher - student - cell phone, and still, the smartphone as technology in the classroom. As field work , we followed two groups WhatsApp compounds, by students of the third year of high School that have used the instrument as a tool for the study of Mathematics. On the face of it, we observe that the mobile phone can be an ally of great potential to meet the demands of the educational current. This device, with its potential, can become a pedagogical tool very powerful for a school that recently has been installing, known as Hybrid Education, because, with this device it is possible for the student have access platforms, such as Moodle, or Helpousts, which can be used in this model of education and that show it as the path that education will follow in the next few years. Experiences by teachers in Brazilian schools, with telephone intelligent, were also analyzed. In the face of several studies and groups who follow, we conclude that the use of pedagogical smart phone has the potential to revolutionize the communication between teacher and students as well as provide different approaches about the contents. However, we also observed in teachers a resistance to the presence of this instrument in the classroom for teaching purposes.

Mimetic processes in entrepreneurship ecosystems : the cases of mobile technology entrepreneurship networks in Nairobi, Kathmandu and London

Andjelkovic, Maja January 2014 (has links)
This qualitative study of networks of entrepreneurs in the mobile technology industry in three ecosystems - Kathmandu, Nairobi and London - examines perceptions and attitudes of entrepreneurs related to their networking activities. The focus is on understanding the entrepreneurs' motivations for, and benefits and risks of networking, as well as the overall trends of development of the three ecosystems, which are very different from each other in terms of socioeconomic circumstances. The findings provide new insights into the link between the concept of a community of supportive peers and the acquisition of subjective resources, such as self-efficacy and legitimacy, while also supporting conclusions of earlier empirical and theoretical work linking networks with the acquisition of resources necessary for founding and building a new firm. A comparison of results across the three ecosystems uncovers a strong tendency towards institutional convergence of the three ecosystems based on a model inspired by the Silicon Valley experience. The mechanisms through which this is found to occur are mimesis and storytelling, motivated primarily by learning goals and the pursuit of legitimacy for entrepreneurial action in the mobile technology industry, as well as for the individual ventures. The overall finding emerging from the cases is that, despite significant differences, the three ecosystems are reliant on a shared pool of relevant information and knowledge, via the Internet and through personal and organizational connections. They resemble one another not only in terms of resources sought by entrepreneurs through their networks, but also in the ways entrepreneurs signal their purpose and value to their community, and in the way the describe their environment - through references to other entrepreneurship ecosystems. In the absence of an existing theoretical approach to analyzing convergence of diverse entrepreneurship ecosystems, the study proposes a framework based on DiMaggio and Powell's theory of institutional isomorphism, and integrating the works of Wiewel and Hunter, on legitimacy-building by association through networks, and Djelic, on the process of cross-national transfer, or export, of economic models. The type of isomorphism perceived is termed "aspirational," since it is found to occur in the context of pursuing a specific outcome previously achieved by the application of a particular institutional model. The difference between "aspirational isomorphism" and behaviours described by DiMaggio and Powell lies in the interpretation and adaptation of a model that can then be embedded in a nascent institutional environment (in this case, an entrepreneurial ecosystem). Rather than pure mimesis, aspirational isomorphism is a flexible and creative endeavor.

This work was based on the yearning to enhance the teaching of Physics for night high school working students at a school in the municipality of Laranjeiras do Sul - Paraná. It was observed that the students presented learning difficulties in several topics of Physics and some of them persisted during the classes. Nevertheless, it was perceived that the demotivation to learn also has a strong influence over the student’s performance, accentuating evasion and grade retention. Seeking to contribute to the alteration of this situation, the teaching strategies Peer Instruction (Mazur, 1997) and Just-in-Time Teaching (Novak et al., 1999) were used in school activities, aiming to improve the teaching and learning of Physics. During the Physics classes developed in this research, a smartphone app was used as a bank of Physics questions and as an instrument to send the answers during the resolution of problems inside the class. This research aimed to identify the potentialities of a Teaching process with Just-in-Time-Teaching and Peer Instruction, mediated by the student-App-teacher interaction, in the Kinematics teaching. The methodological option was of a qualitative research, since we wanted improvements in both teaching and learning. The Research-Action and the Tabla de Invención were used as instruments for data collection and analysis. Through the development, 12 physics classes were taught in high school, with 22 students in a Physics class at an YAE school in the municipality of Laranjeiras do Sul. As a product, a smartphone application (App), which operates on the Android operating system, was developed to be used in the voting of Conceptual Testing responses during classes. A laptop and a router were used to establish the wireless network and database for the operation of the App. The results showed that the application was well accepted by students, have the potential to improve concentration in problem-solving activities and to perform sending of answers to the teacher. The teacher can save the students' answers in the laptop and verify each student's performance. Just-in-Time-Teaching and Peer Instruction teaching strategies proved to be powerful tools to stimulate students to seek autonomous knowledge, reduce fear of physics classes, stimulate concentration in individual problem solving and to promote group discussions in group problem solving. This work is accompanied by an educational product, that follows attached.

E-health for people with diabetes : Adoption and use of diabetes self-management applications among diabetics in Bulgaria

Mitev, Nikolay January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to study the level of understanding of e-health applications among users with diabetes in Bulgaria, to find out how they use those applications, and to provide knowledge on what m-health applications provide to people with diabetes, and what they actually need. This research used TAM variables combined with Innovation Diffusion Theory to produce knowledge on technology acceptance. Therefore, the factors of relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability and observability will be used to determine perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and behavior intention to use a technology. This research was intended to gather information on the use of diabetes self-management mobile apps in a standardized manner. The instrument used for the survey, a questionnaire, aimed to provide information on the use and experience of mobile health apps for managing diabetes. The final online survey was completed by 71 participants, 38 of which were female, 28 were male and 7 were of non-specified gender. The introductory stage of the survey showed that most of the respondents were between the ages of 31 to 40 years old (28.2 %), and that the largest part of the population sample has been diabetic for five years (32.4%). By taking into consideration the results, it can be said that 74.6% of relative advantage correspond to very high perceived usefulness on behalf of the respondents. And a score of 53.5% shows that the people who took part in the survey exhibit high perceived ease of use of the mobile applications.  This concludes that initially upon using diabetes self-management applications, the respondent’s exhibit high behavioral intention to do so and due to that the applications are not defined as complex, they are suitable for constant use.

A Study of Learning Outcomes of a Mobile Travel Application in Tourism Geographic Course

Chou, Chen-Hsiung 05 1900 (has links)
Mobile technologies have been adopted into education more and more. New hardware, such as smart phones and tablets, has increased the popularity of mobile technology. There are also many applications created for the fields of education and tourism. This research chose a travel application from Taiwan to apply into a tourism geographic course at the Taiwan Hospitality and Tourism College (THTC). A quasi-experiment design was applied to this study. Two classes/groups participated in the study. One class was the treatment group which used the travel app through teaching scenarios. The other group was the contrast group which used a lecture format with handouts. Both groups were given a pre-test to determine knowledge of Danongdafu Forest Park (DFP), and Taiwan tourism geography. A post-test was administered after eight weeks of teaching activities. Post intervention scores were compared to pre-intervention scores between the two groups. The results of ANOVA showed that there was no statistically significant learning difference between the treatment group and the contrast group. A paired-sample t-test analysis revealed that after eight weeks of teaching DFP content, both groups gained significantly in knowledge. Furthermore, the learning attitudes and interviews of the treatment group students indicated positive responses utilizing m-learning in teaching scenarios. Students indicated a desire to receive m-learning opportunities for future courses.

A mobile design of an emergency service system for deaf people

Tovide, Anuoluwapo Esther Semande January 2021 (has links)
>Magister Scientiae - MSc / The importance of mobile technology in improving the quality of life is not restricted to only a Hearing person, and the use of mobile devices among Deaf people is no longer limited, due to the advancements in technology Hearing loss cannot be seen but its effect is clearly visible to the persons suffering the loss. This results in a limited ability to communicate with the large world of hearing people. This research effort aims to design a SignSupport for emergency mobile application for Deaf people in Cape Town, empowering them with the same access to emergency service resources as hearing people. The proposed approach is to use a mobile application to contact standard emergency services on behalf of a Deaf person to a representative. The app will use a phone's GPS module to share the location of the victim and contact the nearest emergency service provider to attend to the Deaf victim; as well as keep the victim’s circle of family and friends informed. The app design is intuitive, simply requiring the Deaf victim to launch the app and choose an emergency type from the available options.

Managing language learning data in mobile apps

Mårtensson, Christian January 2020 (has links)
On the journey of learning a language we are exposed to countless words that are easily forgotten and subsequently difficult to find again. This study investigates how to design a personal data management system that enables its users to efficiently organize, find and input the words and phrases that they encounter on their journey. Using DSRM, an artifact was iteratively developed and tested in usability tests and interviews by a total of 10 participants. The feedback from the respondents indicates a strong demand for this type of app and also uncovered design knowledge in this new context. The contribution of this study is a set of 14 design principles for making data management in language learning apps more user-friendly and efficient.
