Previous issue date: 2006-08-04 / Recently, planar antennas have been studied due to their characteristics as well as the advantages that they offers when compared with another types of antennas. In the mobile communications area, the need for this kind of antennas have became each time bigger due to the intense increase of the mobile communications this sector. That needs of antennas which operate in multifrequency and wide bandwidth. The microstrip antennas presents narrow bandwidth due the loss in the dielectric generated by radiation. Another limitation is the radiation pattern degradation due the generation of surface waves in the substrate. In this work some used techniques to minimize the disadvantages (previously mentioned) of the use of microstrip antennas are presented, those are: substrates with PBG material - Photonic Bandgap, multilayer antennas and with stacked patches. The developed analysis in this work used the TTL - Transverse Transmission Line method in the domain of Fourier transform, that uses a component of propagation in the y direction (transverse to the direction real of propagation z), treating the general equations of electric and magnetic field as functions of Ey and Hy. One of the advantages of this method is the simplification of the field equations. therefore the amount of equations lesser must the fields in directions x and z be in function of components Ey and Hy. It will be presented an brief study of the main theories that explain the superconductivity phenomenon. The BCS theory. London Equations and Two Fluids model will be the theories that will give support the application of the superconductors in the microfita antennas. The inclusion of the superconductor patch is made using the resistive complex contour condition. This work has as objective the application of the TTL method to microstrip structures with single and multilayers of rectangular patches, to obtaining the resonance frequency and radiation pattern of each structure / Recentemente as antenas planares t?m despertado interesses devido ?s suas caracter?sticas, assim como pelas vantagens que oferecem quando comparadas com os demais tipos de antenas.

projeto deles. O grande objetivo de um bom planejamento é
uma boa cobertura, e um dos parâmetros de qualidade é a
perda média de propagação. A principal técnica
[en] The current period of the mobile communications is
characterized by a spectacular growth of the demand in all
the types of environments, not only in density urbanized
cities as suburban and rural. The planners of these systems
need efficient and economically viable tools for the design
of these systems. The main goal of good planning is a good
coverage, and one of the most adopted quality indicators is
the path loss of propagation. The mostly used deterministic
technique for calculation it in strongly built micro-cells
is the tracing of rays, whether the method of the images or
the method of launching of rays. This work presents a
detailed formularization of the method of launching of rays
and of the asymptotic methods which have been used in order
to calculate the electromagnetic fields (direct, reflected
and diffracted) which allow to calculate the Path Loss of
Propagation. Besides it this shown the used method of space
discrimination, which was employed to speed up the
calculation. The methodology proposal was implemented in
computer program and is presented some studies of case for
specific environments.

Adaptive and Robust Multi-Gigabit Techniques Based MmWave Massive MU-MIMO Beamforming For 5G Wireless and Mobile Communications Systems. A Road Map for Simple and Robust Beamforming Scheme and Algorithms Based Wideband MmWave Massive MU-MIMO for 5G Wireless and Mobile Communications SystemsAlabdullah, Ali AbdulMohsin S. January 2021 (has links)
Over recent years, the research and studies have focused on innovative solutions in various aspects
and phases related to the high demands on data rate and energy for fifth-generation and beyond
(B5G). This thesis aims to improve the energy efficiency, error rates, low-resolution
ADCs/DACs, antenna array structures and sum-rate performances of a single cell downlink
broadband millimetre-wave (mmWave) systems with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing
(OFDM) modulation and deploying multi-user massive multiple inputs multiple outputs (MU mMIMO) by applying robust beamforming techniques and detection algorithms that support
multiple streams per user (UE) in various environments and scenarios to achieve low complexity
system design with reliable performance and significant improvement in users perceived quality
of service (QoS).
The performance of the four 5G candidate mmWave frequencies, 28 GHz, 39 GHz, 60 GHz, and
73 GHz, are investigated for indoor/outdoor propagation scenarios, including path loss models
and multipath delay spread values. Results are compared to confirm that the received power and
delay spread is decreased with increasing frequency. The results were also validated with the
measurement findings for 60 GHz.
Then several proposed design models of beamforming are studied and implemented modified
algorithms of Hybrid Beamforming (HBF) approaches in indoor/outdoor scenarios over large
scale fading wideband mmWave /Raleigh channels. Firstly, three beamforming based diagonalize
the Equivalent Virtual Channel Matrix (EVCM) schemes with the optimal linear combining
methods are presented to overcoming the self-interference problems in Quasi-Orthogonal-Space
Time Block Code (QO-STBC) systems over narrowband mmWave Single-User mMIMO (SU mMIMO). The evaluated results show that the proposed beamforming based- Single Value
Decomposition (SVD) outperforms the conventional beamforming and standard QO-STBC
techniques in terms of BER and spectrum efficiency.
Next, the proposed HBF algorithm approaches with the fully/ partially connected structures are
developed and applied for sum-rate and symbol error rate (SER) performance maximization MU mMIMO-OFDM system, including HBF based on block diagonalization (BD) method Constraint/Unconstraint RF Power, Codebook, Kalman schemes. In addition, the modified near optimal linear HBF-Zero Forcing (HBF-ZF) and HBF-Minimum Mean Square Error (HBF MMSE) schemes, considering both fully-connected and partially-connected structures.
Finally, Simulation results using MATLAB platform, demonstrate that the proposed HBF based codebook and most likely HBF based-unconstraint RF power algorithms achieve significant
performance gains in terms SER and sum-rate efficiency as well as show high immunity against
the deformities and disturbances in the system compared with other HBF algorithm schemes. / Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Republic of Iraq

Leveraging technology for business fleet applications : a case study of fleet management system implemented in Kenya Power & Lighting Company LimitedWaiyaki, Edward Chege 18 October 2013 (has links)
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a modern fleet management system in improving the logistics of transporting staff, goods and materials in Kenya Power & Lighting Company, a utility firm in power distribution. In today’s competitive marketplace which is characterised by rapidly changing business requirements, leveraging leading edge technologies and adopting best practices are essential in order to ensure sound logistical support that guarantees both effectiveness and efficiency in the transportation processes.
The sampling procedure of one-stage, cluster sampling and the use of the simple random sampling technique were used in this study to select a sample size which was sufficiently representative of the whole population. Both the descriptive study approach and the survey research strategy were adopted to enable the collection of data in a manner that allowed in-depth examination while gathering information that explained the relationships between constructs, in particular, cause and effect relationships.
The main purpose of this dissertation was therefore to establish that the use of information technology is feasible in transport industries, explain possible obstacles and also any major advantages of its implementation. Secondly, as regards the theoretical aspect, a broadened view on the use of online tracking for vehicles using a global positioning system is presented, together with practical examples, to illustrate its successful implementation in a fleet management system. The study concludes by offering suggestions and recommendations from the research results and the researcher’s experiences for future studies. / Transport Economics, Logistics & Tourism / M. Com.
