Medida indireta da pressão arterial: avaliação de programa de educação permanente oferecido em dispositivo móvel / Indirect blood pressure measurement: assessment of a continuing education program offered on mobile device.

Silvia Helena Tognoli 24 August 2012 (has links)
An updating course on indirect blood pressure measurement, using mobile technology, was offered to nursing professionals from three Basic Health Units of the Western District of the city of Ribeirão Preto. This exploratory and descriptive study had the participation of 11 nursing auxiliaries. These professionals were evaluated in four different phases: diagnostic, processual and summative assessments and use of mobile technology and theory and practice evaluation. Results indicate gaps in knowledge related to aspects that involve indirect blood pressure measurement, when evaluating the educational activities in the processual phase. Most professionals had a good performance on accomplishing the procedure after the course. All 11 (100.0%) positively evaluated the use of the mobile device (Tablet) in continuing education at service, indicating they would like to participate in other activities using the resource. It was concluded that this study has limitations due to the small number of participants and the rules established by the service as to the custody of equipments. Thus, further studies should be proposed in order to better scale the aspects identified by this study.

Silva, Sávio Roberto Amorim Aragão 27 May 2015 (has links)
A key step in the handover process corresponds to the decision phase in which the mobile device selects the candidate network that it will be attached to. The criterion generally used in the decision step is the signal strength of the available network. In addition to the signal power, other criteria also need to be explored in heterogeneous environments for taking handover decision, since the network technologies differ in the types of services, protocols, quality standards, frequency bands and monetary costs. This paper proposes a handover decision algorithm based on cost function that takes into account both the received signal power, some quality of service criteria such as packet loss rate, delay and jitter, as well as the energy consumption of network interface of the mobile station. In order to evaluate the performance of the algorithm were considered two scenarios, one in which the battery of device mobile is sufficiently charged and another where it meets the low load. Simulations in NS-2 were performed in an environment compound by the Wi-Fi and WiMAX networks. The results showed that the proposed algorithm helped to reduce the number of wrong handovers decisions, so that there was no deterioration in the quality of service that would affect the performance of the network in which the mobile device is currently connected.

[en] A FRAMEWORK FOR DEVELOPING SELF-ADAPTIVE AGENTS IN MOBILE DEVICES / [pt] UM FRAMEWORK PARA DESENVOLVIMENTO DE AGENTES AUTOADAPTATIVOS EM DISPOSITIVOS MÓVEIS

LEANDRO FERNANDES GUIMARAES 03 January 2013 (has links)
[en] Technological progress in mobile computing and the Internet promotes an achievement of the futuristic vision in which users have access to data and services anytime and anywhere. However, this vision realization brings important issues to application development, because more attention is required to the communication between mobile devices and web services, especially regarding processing and data storage constraints, diversity standards and availability of services. This dissertation explores aspects of software engineering as autonomic computing, multi-agent systems and frameworks in developing applications for mobile devices, emphasizing autonomic management of web services use. Aiming the consolidation of the investigated concepts and provide a guide to facilitate the development of self-adapting applications, a framework is proposed to help in applications development for mobile computing. The development of two applications illustrates the framework appliance. The first application is a system that presents the risk of mass sliding in an area through a susceptibility calculation based on information of climate, topography and soil. The second application is part of a travel agency system that defines a travel package that best fit user needs.

Infants' Perceptions of Mothers' Phone Use: Is Mothers' Phone Use Generating the Still Face Effect?

Kildare, Cory A. 05 1900 (has links)
Using a modified still-face procedure the present study explores 3-6-month-old infants' behavioral and physiological responses to mothers' screen distractions during mother-infant interactions. In the modified phone still-face procedure the neutral face of the traditional still face procedure was replaced with mothers' texting on their mobile phones. Infants' cortisol stress responses to mothers' device use were assessed through the collection of 3 infant saliva samples. Infants' behavioral responses including facial expressions, vocalizations, gaze and self-comforting behaviors were also explored. All mother-infant interactions were videoed recorded and coded for analysis. Thirty-four mother-infant dyads participated, average ages for mothers was 29 years and 4.4 months for infants. As predicted, infants demonstrated the changes in affect associated with the still-face effect, with significant differences in positive and negative affect during the play phases and the phone still face phase. As a whole, infants did not respond with increased cortisol responses, however, when individual differences were explored 47% responded with increased stress during mothers' phone distractions. Mother's frequency and attitudes towards device use were also assessed but were unrelated to infant responses. Implications and directions for future research are discussed.
