Mobile Search : An empirical investigation of the next big thing

Bäcke, Louise, Hansen, Ellinor, Johansson, Linnea January 2012 (has links)
The remarkable spread of the Internet has generated new opportunities for companies to promote themselves and communicate with their customers. The most used Internet service of finding information today is search engines (e.g. Google, Bing, Yahoo) were almost three million searches are preformed every minute worldwide. This trend has led to an importance for companies having their websites visible on these search engines. In addition, people tend to be more and more on the go and are searching with their smartphones instead of traditional personal computer (PC). Meaning that companies’ websites can be available for customers 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, independent on customers location. Consequently, companies have the possibilities to reach the attention of customers when they actually search for a product/service and are therefore most likely to purchase.   In this thesis a marketing strategy has been developed for managers regarding how to master this new communication tool, in order to reach success and competitive advantage. This strategy was developed by investigate in what characteristics and functions users desire when searching with their smartphone. Together with three hypotheses tested if the perceived user-friendliness, relative advantage and compatibility within mobile search have a positive affect on the intention of use this new technology.   In this bachelor thesis a survey was conducted among people in generation C living in Sweden, which resulted in 397 completed responses. The hypotheses were tested with use of a regression analysis and the findings were that the relative advantage and compatibility in mobile search has a positive affect on the intention of use. Therefore, this thesis suggests companies to develop their mobile search engine marketing strategy with the aim of delivering value and satisfying the customer. Moreover, this thesis recommend managers to keep their mobile website quick, relevant and making sure having valuable and informative information about their business in the description text visible to users in the search engine hit list.   Finally, the majority of the population does already act on this new market and it is therefore of great importance for companies satisfying these users in order to stay competitive.

Mobilapplikationer som marknadsföringsverktyg för B2B? : En studie i mobilapplikationers inverkan på kundrelationer & kundvärde / Mobile applications as B2B marketing tools? : A study of mobile applications impact on customer relations and customer value

Haglund, Veronica, Nilsson, Jonas January 2012 (has links)
Mobile applications are often claimed to be a suitable marketing tool for B2B companies and the world market for B2B mobile applications is expected to outgrow the mobile app market for consumer products within a few years. The idea of using mobile applications as a B2B marketing tools has been discussed by theorists in the field for years but there is still an evident lack of studies focusing on the use of mobile application in a B2B context. Many practitioners seem convinced that mobile apps have the potential to become a powerful B2B marketing tool. Yet B2B mobile applications are still fairly uncommon and great insecurity seem to prevail in regards to how companies can use mobile apps successfully as vehicles for B2B marketing. The purpose of this study is to investigate how mobile applications can be used as marketing tools in a B2B context and to investigate if mobile applications have any impact on customer relations and experienced customer value. To do so, we have conducted a case study of a B2B company using a mobile application in their marketing programme. A quantitative telephone survey was conducted to estimate awareness and usage of the app among customers within the target group. Qualitative data has been compiled through a number of in-depth interviews with involved stakeholders of the investigated company as well as a number of customers using the app. The empirical findings have been analyzed using a theoretical framework based on theories of relationship marketing and value creation, encompassing Morgan & Hunt’s (1994) Key Mediating Variable Model and Amit & Zott’s (2001) Value Creation Model. The findings of the study indicate that mobile applications can have a positive impact on customer relations and the value that customers experience when engaging in transactions with a company. Furthermore, a majority of the respondents participating in the study have a positive attitude towards mobile applications and believe that mobile apps have a number of advantages in relations to other marketing channels. Based on these finding the authors have come to the conclusion that mobile apps can be an appropriate marketing tool for B2B-companies seeking to deepen customers relations and enhance customer value.

Mobile marketing strategy development in China, Japan and South Korea : An Apple App Store example

Minakhmetova, Dinara, Savchenko, Anastasia January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this master thesis is to test an individual influence of separate factors on a mobile software development company’s position in a rating of Top Grossing applications in Asian countries, explain how these factors could be interpreted from a modified 4P framework perspective and understand how a mobile developer can adjust its strategy based on the identified factors. The research is based on a ranking data of 90 finance management applications for iPhone on the App Store of China, South Korea and Japan. The hypotheses about an existence of causal relationships between the identified factors and software’s position in the rating of Top Grossing finance mobile applications were tested. The research is based on a multiple regression analysis, conducted separately on the Chinese, South Korean and Japanese markets.   In the findings of the research the authors state that a position of financial mobile software in the Apple App Store rating of Top Grossing applications is determined by a unique set of factors, which vary across the studied Asian markets, while a number of factors converge. The models designed for the markets of China, South Korea and Japan allow to identify which factors can potentially elevate the position of an application in the rating of the most profit generating financial programs (Top Grossing rating) and based on that gain an understanding of the way a mobile software company’s marketing strategy could be adjusted to better meet customers’ needs on the studied markets.   The originality of this master thesis is in the development of a new approach to the analysis of a mobile software development company’s performance regarding its position in Top Grossing ranking. Since the market of mobile applications emerged only in 2008 the factors influencing the performance of mobile developing companies have not been theoretically discussed before.

Fohlin, Louise, Franzén, Emelie January 2011 (has links)
Se s. 63, kapitel 5.1.3 / Purpose: The purpose of this study is to gain understanding of how the development of the society, as well as the technology, has increased the numbers of marketing channels and how they affect companies’ marketing strategies. In order to investigate this subject we have formulated three main questions: How can smartphones as a marketing channel help companies pinpoint their communication to the customer? How do smartphones affect companies' ability to segment the market? How can a company use smartphones, as a tool to manage customer relationships? Approach: We have done a qualitative study with an inductive approach. Primary data has been collected through seven qualitative semi-structured interviews with persons from different companies. Conclusions: After investigating this subject we have come to the conclusion that using smartphones as a marketing channel can help companies to pinpoint their marketing because of the device’s availability and because that the phone is personal to the customer. We mean that customers’ acceptance and integrity is very important to take into consideration and will be of great importance in how well companies will succeed in its use of smartphones as a marketing channel. Timing is another important question and we have therefore presented two new concepts; business-driven timing and customer-driven timing. Smartphones has also contributed with new strategies when it comes to market segmentation. We suggest place and context as new market segmentation variables so that companies could be able to find their customer in right place and in right time. We have also come to the conclusion that smartphones as a marketing channel is advantageous when it comes to building relationship to the customer and we have also seen tendencies that the customer socialize with the brand in a way that they has not been done before. We have also introduced a new concept, interactive communication devices, which is a name for a new type of marketing channels and where smartphones is the leading device today. Keywords: Mobile marketing, precision marketing, customer driven timing[3], market segmentation, context, relevance, integrity, brand, customer relationship, high interactive communication devices[4] [3]This is a new concept that we have introduced and is a part of a model that we have created. See page 58, chapter 5.1.1 [4]This is a new concept that we have introduced and is a concept for a new type of marketing channel, see page 63, chapter 5.1.3.

Analýza lokální marketingové komunikace na vybrané společnosti / Analysis of the local marketing communication on the chosen company

Zimolová, Michaela January 2011 (has links)
The aim of my Master's Thesis is to analyse the local marketing communication of the Vodafone Czech Republic, a.s. company. I use current secondary information sources and primary resources are collected through in-depth interviews with specialists and a method of observation. My Master's Thesis starts from theoretical information on the issue, then it continues with practical findings and finally, I close up with a summary of the analysis and recommendations. I found out that the mobile telecommunications market offers a great potential for local marketing for both mobile service providers, as well as for other companies in the market. In the international Vodafone Group the marketing communication is directed mainly locally within the individual states, communication is unified and has the central character of the rules, but there are many local exceptions. In the Czech Republic, Vodafone has active, regionally based local marketing communications since the summer of 2010, but a local marketing potential is not fully utilized so far. Future trends in marketing suggest greater use of new technologies, mobile and online marketing. Local marketing will belong to the portfolio of a successful organisation.
