THE NEXT GENERATION OF TELEMETERING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AIR FORCE SEEK EAGLE PROGRAM

Dyess, William W. Jr, Shirley, Benjamin M., Robinson, Wiley J. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 25-28, 1999 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / The Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office (AFSEO) was chartered by the Secretary of the Air Force in December 1987. The mission of the AFSEO is to provide the United States Air Force increased combat capability through central management of the aircraft-stores certification process and provide in-house engineering and operations research capabilities. Additionally, the AFSEO is required to ensure the future viability of the aircraft-stores organic in-house capability with the insertion of evolving technologies. To accomplish this mission, the AFSEO employs all phases of the test process; from Digital Model and Simulation (DMS) to Open Air Range (OAR) flight tests. The AFSEO desires to prepare for the future DoD environment, and minimize the cost of developing its products that require advanced sensors and telemetry capability. For a number of years, a mainstay in the process has been instrumented aircraft. These aircraft were specially instrumented to support the mission of AFSEO. Similarly, stores were instrumented to obtain environmental data such as loads and vibration. With the rising cost of instrumentation and the national DoD trend to reduce the cost of development and maintenance of instrumentation, a new method will need to be found. Several advanced concepts in ground and airborne instrumentation at Eglin AFB are needed to support the mission of the AFSEO. These include a new generation of telemetry devices, sensors, and data acquisition components to provide rapid and cost effective instrumentation of test aircraft, stores, and suspension equipment. The new generation telemetry will provide integrated circuitry with “peel and stick” subminiature telemetry sensors. These telemetry sensors will provide flutter and structural loads data for aircraft-stores combinations. In conjunction with the telemetry sensors, advanced aircraft platform instrumentation will be needed to match precision flight mechanics to the spatial telemetry measurements for stress, strain, and dynamic activity of stores.

Four essays in dynamic macroeconomics

Sun, Qi January 2010 (has links)
The dissertation contains essays concerning the linkages between macroeconomy and financial market or the conduct of monetary policy via DSGE modelling. The dissertation contributes to the questions of fitting macroeconomic models to the data, and so contributes to our understanding of the driving forces of fluctuations in macroeconomic and financial variables. Chapter one offers an introduction to my thesis and outlines in detail the main results and methodologies. In Chapter two I introduce a statistical measure for model evaluation and selection based on the full information of sample second moments in data. A model is said to outperform its counterpart if it produces closer similarity in simulated data variance-covariance matrix when compared with the actual data. The "distance method" is generally feasible and simple to conduct. A flexible price two-sector open economy model is studied to match the observed puzzles of international finance data. The statistical distance approach favours a model with dominant role played by the expectational errors in foreign exchange market which breaks the international interest rate parity. Chapter three applies the distance approach to a New Keynesian model augmented with habit formation and backward-looking component of pricing behaviour. A macro-finance model of yield curve is developed to showcase the dynamics of implied forward yields. This exercise, with the distance approach, reiterate the inability of macro model in explaining yield curve dynamics. The method also reveals remarkable interconnection between real quantity and bond yield slope. In Chapter four I study a general equilibrium business cycle model with sticky prices and labour market rigidities. With costly matching on labour market, output responds in a hump-shaped and persistent manner to monetary shocks and the resulting Phillips curve seems to radically change the scope for monetary policy because (i) there are speed limit effects for policy and (ii) there is a cost channel for monetary policy. Labour reforms such as in mid-1980s UK can trigger more effective monetary policy. Research on monetary policy shall pay greater attention to output when labour market adjustments are persistent. Chapter five analyzes the link between money and financial spread, which is oft missed in specification of monetary policy making analysis. When liquidity provision by banks dominates the demand for money from the real economy, money may contain information of future output and inflation due to its impact on financial spreads. I use a sign-restriction Bayesian VAR estimation to separate the liquidity provision impact from money market equilibrium. The decomposition exercise shows supply shocks dominate the money-price nexus in the short to medium term. It also uncovers distinctive policy stance of two central banks. Finally Chapter six concludes, providing a brief summary of the research work as well as a discussion of potential limitations and possible directions for future research.

Simulační studie výrobní linky s průmyslovými roboty / A simulation study of a production line with industrial robots

Mrkva, Tomáš January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of a robotic workplace for deburring of a given part. The robot's task is to remove the machined part from the production machine, create a blank workpiece ready for machining, and finally deburr the the machined part. There are several proposals for the layout of the robotic cell, as well as the design of the end effector, the input tray for semi-finished products and a stand with tools for deburring. Subsequently, a simulation model of the designed robotic cell is created in the Siemens Process Simulate software. Using RSC modules, the exact resulting cell clock is determined. The whole process of creating a simulation model is detaily described. At the end of this thesis is an economic evaluation of the proposed solution.

A novel method for constitutive characterization of the mechanical properties of uncured rubber

Feng, Xijin, Li, Zhichao, Wei, Yintao, Chen, Yalong, Kaliske, Michael, Zopf, Christoph, Behnke, Ronny 08 October 2019 (has links)
A novel constitutive characterization method for uncured rubber behaviour has been developed in this article. A systematic measuring procedure was designed to fully investigate the uncured rubber complex stress–strain behaviour under different deformation patterns, which integrated three kinds of tests – the uniaxial tensile, the compression test and the shear test. It can be found from the observed behaviour that the uncured rubber has similar but much pronounced non-elastic stress–strain relationship, which is highly non-linear and highly rate dependent. A generalized Maxwell model with modified Yeoh model is developed to constitutively describe the observed phenomena in which parameters are identified by an evolution optimization scheme. Good agreement can be found between the model and the test data. Another finding is that, similar to vulcanized rubber, multi-test data are needed to obtain compatible constitutive models. The test results, findings and the developed model help rubber engineers deeply understand the uncured rubber’s mechanical behaviour and provide a base for rubber manufacturing simulation.

jz Thermodynamically consistent electro-chemo-mechanical model for polymer membranes

Rossi, Marco, Wallmersperger, Thomas, Ramirez, Jorge Alejandro, Nardinocchi, Paola 13 August 2020 (has links)
Nafion membranes, are polymeric thin films widely employed in micro-batteries and fuel cells. These devices are expected to play a key role in the next generation energy systems for use in vehicles as a replacement to combustion engines. In fact, a minimum environmental impact is guaranteed by reduced carbon dioxide emissions. It is usually complicated to investigate the behavior of thin membranes through experiments. Therefore, numerical simulations are carried out in order to enable a better understanding of the phenomena and of the multi-field couplings occurring in polymeric membranes. A continuum-based, three-dimensional and electro-chemo-mechanical (ECM) model for a hydrated polymer membrane is presented. Different effects are taken into account: (i) mechanics, (ii) water uptake, (iii) ion transport, and (iv) electrostatics. The dissipation inequality drives the choice of the suitable constitutive equations of the multi-physics theory. In the mechanical field, an additive decomposition of the deformation gradient in (i) a distortion part, related to the ion motion, and (ii) an elastic part, is assumed. The multi-field model is numerically solved within the finite element framework. Time-dependent simulations are performed by using the commercial tool COMSOL Multiphysics. Furthermore, two closed form solutions are obtained by using (i) a one-dimensional reduced model and (ii) an approach based on the bar theory with an electro-chemical distortion field.

Stanovení hydrodynamického zatížení přelévané mostovky s využitím 2D numerických simulací / Quantification of hydrodynamic load on overflowed bridge deck using 2D numerical simulation

Pavlíček, Michal January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on a quantification of hydrodynamic load of overflowed bridge deck. Solution was pursued by using two–dimensional numerical simulation of open channel flow in vertical plane created in ANSYS 15.0 software (modules: Workbench, Design Modeler, Meshing, Fluent). Values of drag force, lift force, moment, drag coefficient, lift coefficient and moment coefficient is result of computation. Various types of bridge decks were tested in relation to the degree of inundation (inundation ratio) and flow velocity. The thesis provides comparison of numerical simulation with physical experimental testing and result published in accessible resources.
