Elementos Finitos a partir do software DIANA?.
alvenaria. / Masonry is a composite material, consisting basically of units and mortar joints (vertical
and horizontal), and may also be associated with other materials, such as steel and
grout. In Brazil, from the 1980s, structural masonry consolidated itself as a highly
productive, rational and economical construction system due to characteristics as:
simplification of execution techniques, less diversity of materials employed, reduction
of labor and speed execution. In structural masonry, one of the execution possibilities
that can be explored is the non-filling of vertical joints, also called dry joints. The
adoption of this practice generates certain advantages as the reduction in the
execution time of the construction, the reduction of the consumption of materials and
the minimization of the cracking caused by the intrinsic deformations, such as
retraction and thermal deformations. However, despite be employed to some years in
country, the implications of its use often has been not properly considered in the
projects, this is due to the fact that there is few research that deals with this subject.
Moreover, the existing researches sometimes present results that diverge from each
other, mainly with respect to the resistance to compression and shear. In this work,
numerical simulations of small walls of ceramic and concrete units, with and without
vertical joints, tested with the requirements of NBR 15812-2 (ABNT, 2010), NBR
15961-2 (ABNT, 2011) and NBR 14321 (ABNT, 1999). The purpose of this work was
to evaluate the influence of non-filling of vertical joints on the compressive strength and shear strength of the masonry. For the numerical analyzes, the Finite Element Method
was used from DIANA? software. According to the numerical results obtained in the
models in compression, and the comparison between these and the experimental
results, it was possible to conclude that the absence of the vertical joints did not
influence the compressive strength of the masonry. However, from the results obtained
in the shear models, it was concluded that it was not possible to quantitatively evaluate
the influence of the vertical joints on the shear strength of the masonry.

Estudo teórico e numérico de modelos constitutivos de ligas com memória de forma e associação com sistemas vibratórios / Theoretical and numerical study of constitutive models of shape memory alloys and their association to vibrating systemsPinto, Aurélio Alves 29 April 2011 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In recent times, much research effort has been undertaken aiming at the development of the so-called
smart materials, understood as those that exhibit coupling between two or more physical domains in
such a way that, when stimulated externally, they undergo controlled variations of some of their
properties, such as viscosity, stiffness, volume or electrical conductivity. The degree of maturity of the
technology of smart materials and structures is confirmed by numerous examples of applications
found in industrial products. The present work is dedicated to the study of shape memory alloys, which
are considered as being some of the most promising smart materials in terms of potentiality for
industrial innovation. Those materials present the capacity of, once submitted to external loads,
recovering their original form and dimensions through the application of thermal cycles or by removing
the load. This behavior is due to two effects exhibited by those materials: shape memory and
pseudoelasticity. The present dissertation reports the study carried-out by the author concerning some
of the most relevant constitutive models intended for the description of the thermomechanical behavior
of shape memory alloys, based on assumed transformation kinetics and on internal variables with
constraints. The understanding of such models is considered to be essential for the development of
modeling procedures of intelligent devices. After the description of the potentiality of applications of
the shape memory alloys in the context of the smart material and structures technology and the
assessment of the most relevant phenomenological aspects, specially the underlying phase
transformations, the formulations of some constitutive models, chosen among those considered to be
the most representative ones, are described, namely: models with assumed transformation kinetics
(Tanaka, Liang-Rogers, Brinson, and Boyd-Lagoudas models) and models based on internal
variables with constraints (modified Fremond and Savi and coauthors models). Numerical simulations
are carried-out with the aim of evaluating the main features of the models considered and validating
the numerical implementations by comparisons with results extracted from the literature. Afterwards,
the analytical developments and numerical simulations regarding the incorporation of the Liang-
Rogers model in a single-degree-of-freedom vibrating system are presented, enabling to evaluate the
interest in using shape memory alloys for the purpose of vibration control. The study reported herein
has been developed in the context of the National Institute of Science and Technology of Smart
Structures in Engineering, leaded by the Structural Mechanics Laboratory Prof. J.E.T. Reis, of the
School of Mechanical Engineering of the Federal University of Uberlândia, which is dedicated to the
study of the foundations and applications of intelligent materials to various problems of engineering as
well as to multidisciplinary problems.
O presente memorial

Contribuição ao estudo e emprego de modelos simplificados de dano e plasticidade para a análise de estruturas de barras em concreto armado / Contribution of the study and application of simplified damage and plasticity models for analyse of reinforced concrete bars structuresManoel da Silva Álvares 25 June 1999 (has links)
This work is related to formulation and numerical analysis of a damage and plasticity model which considers such effects localised on zones previously defined along the structural beam elements, extending the concepts of the classics lumped plasticity models. First of all, a brief bibliography revision on damage and plasticity based models is given, enlightening the ones which propose some kind of simplification at the level of the formulation or only at the stage of the numerical implementation, for instance using a layered technique in a beam element discretization. Afterwards, on the field of the so called simplified models, a stiffness matrix of an elastic damage beam element is deduced, extending the formulation of a framed structures model proposed in the bibliography. The main characteristic of the new element is that the damage processes is localized on hinges at the extremities of the beam element, being the associated damage variables dependent on each other and reducing progressively the transmission efforts factor along the element. Two basic numerical examples show the performance of the model when implemented in a finite element code. Next, a study on the feasibility of the model to analyse reinforced concrete structures is presented. In order to enlarge the application field, cases where longitudinal reinforcement is asymmetrically distributed in the cross section are also considered. As a result of the study, a change in the damage criteria function originally used is suggested, aiming to improve the valuation of the dissipated energy related to the damage process. The response of the modified resulting model is valuated by a confront between experimental and numerical results of beams and frame reinforced concrete structures. The results show a very good performance of the modified model. Finally, some topics for further research on the theme explored in this work are suggested.

[en] CONSTITUTIVE MODELING OF SOILS WITH EMPHASIS IN UNSATURATED SOILS / [pt] MODELAGEM CONSTITUTIVA PARA SOLOS COM ÊNFASE EM SOLOS NÃO SATURADOSJUAN PABLO IBANEZ 19 April 2004 (has links)
A seguir, e
organizadamente as conclusões gerais e particulares
tema do presente trabalho. / [en] The objective of this thesis is to present a critical
review of the main constitutive soil models published in
the literature, discussing and evaluating their abilities
to simulate the mechanical behavior of geological
materials under the theoretical and numerical points of
view, with emphasis on unsaturated soils. Firstly, some
basic, classical and advanced soil models are presented and
discussed, as well as a few other recent constitutive
relationships specially developed for unsaturated and
structured materials. In the sequence, in order to assess
the efficiency and overall performance of some selected
models, the respective constitutive matrices were
numerically implemented for prediction and back-analysis
of the response of three residual soils, in saturated and
unsaturated conditions. As a complement of this research,
one of the soil models is used to simulate the results of
some plate load tests on a residual soil deposit through
the finite element method. Finally, the general
conclusions of this work are presented and some
suggestions are made to aid future research in the area of
soil modeling.

[pt] AVALIAÇÃO DO COMPORTAMENTO MECÂNICO DE POLÍMEROS EM ALTAS DEFORMAÇÕES MEDIANTE USO DA TÉCNICA DE CORRELAÇÃO DE IMAGENS DIGITAIS / [en] EVALUATION OF THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF POLYMERS AT LARGE DEFORMATION USING DIGITAL IMAGE CORRELATIONAYRTON ALEF CASTANHEIRA PEREIRA 08 August 2019 (has links)
[en] Low cost, coupled with weight reduction and consequent increase in efficiency, reaching the same desirables levels of mechanical strength, has seduced several industry sectors to expand the use of thermoplastic polymers in their final products. Within these sectors, the increase in volume of polymer has not only grown in general use, but also in structural applications. Thus, in order to ensure their proper properties in work, the detailed knowledge of the mechanical behavior of these materials is necessary and the use of constitutive models for the prediction of the final mechanical behavior becomes attractive. However, polymers are semi-crystalline materials that show complex deformation and failure mechanisms. Most of the polymers deform homogeneously until the yield point, but after, due to necking, the strain field becomes heterogeneous, making the use of classic experimental techniques, such as extensometry, inadequate. Among the most appropriate methods for the evaluation of polymers at large deformation, it is possible to highlight the digital image correlation (DIC). DIC technique allows the evaluation of local strain and is able to provide a complete description of the strain field, including the neck region. Despite the potential of DIC in polymers, its use is still incipient due to the recent development of the technique. Thus, the present work has the objective of evaluating the behavior of thermoplastic polymers under large deformation using DIC. Given the high cost of commercial DIC systems, a simple arrangement and procedure for the acquisition and analysis of the digital images was developed. In order to predict the mechanical behavior and to better understand the mechanisms of deformation involved, several constitutive models were also tested.

[en] NUMERICAL MODELING OF STRUCTURAL STRENGTHENING OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS / [pt] MODELAGEM NUMÉRICA DE REFORÇO ESTRUTURAL EM VIGAS DE CONCRETO ARMADOMARCELLO VARELLA SOUTO FILHO 10 March 2003 (has links)
No desenvolvimento deste trabalho,
[en] The frequent use of composite materials, in the
strengthening of reinforced concrete structures requires
complete knowledge of the structural behavior because of
the changes that such strengthening will cause to the
overall stiffness, the collapse load, the cracks
distribution and the behavior and position of the
neutral axis. Over the last few years experimental studies
have been performed, bringing out more trustworthy
parameters for ultimate strength design. In this work, a
computational program was implemented based on the finite
element method, which is able to describe the flexural
strengthening of reinforced concrete beams. The model used
in this program is that of Elwi and Murray -1979-, which
assumes a so-called hypo elastic theory for concrete and a
approach to simulate the reinforcement. These relationships
were derived from reinforced concrete analytical and
experimental studies and are originally implemented in the
FEPARCS program -Elwi and Murray, 1980-, which has been
modified in order to obtain a more realistic approach to in-
service structural strengthening. The program developed,
which is able to perform non-linear numerical analyses, is
coupled to pre and pos-processing graphic programs
specially developed for model generation, management of the
calculation sequence and presentation of final results. The
results produced by this program have been validated by
comparison with experimental results available in
literature.

[en] 3D ELASTOPLASTIC ANALYSIS FOR SHALLOW FOUNDATIONS AND EMBANKMENTS BY THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD / [pt] ANÁLISE ELASTO-PLÁSTICA 3D DE FUNDAÇÕES SUPERFICIAIS E ATERROS POR ELEMENTOS FINITOSNILTHSON NORENA VALVERDE 23 February 2018 (has links)
[en] The vast majority of geotechnical works, such as some foundations, embankments and excavations, show a typical three-dimensional geometric configuration. However, depending on the complexity of obtaining solutions considering the aspects inherent to the three-dimensional deformation and stress, the analysis of these works have been performed by adopting common approaches and plane strain or axisymmetric. This dissertation presents a computational model based on displacement formulation of finite element method for simulation of mechanical problems of static equilibrium condition of geotechnical works in three dimensions. It highlights the problems of load capacity of shallow foundations and the simulation of embankment construction. The soil is considered as material non-linear elastic-plastic models and non-associated Mohr- Coulomb and modified Lade-Kim are adopted to represent their relationship stress-strain-resistance. The nonlinear solution strategies, both overall and in the Gauss point level, are presented and discussed. Examples of load capacity of shallow foundations are compared with the results of the theory of limit equilibrium and limit analysis showing good results. The effect of tension in the intermediate stress path is presented and discussed in the simulation examples of the construction of embankments.

Definición de criterios de influencia entre parámetros geotécnicos y profundidad en excavaciones, mediante la aplicación de un software de elementos finitos para la grava del conglomerado de Lima Metropolitana / Definition of Criteria of influence from Geotechnical Parameters and Depth in Excavations, through the application of a finite element’s software for the Metropolitan Lima conglomerate gravel.Luque Aldana, Luis Alejandro, Rodríguez Manyari, Adrián Franz 31 October 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to establish criteria of influence between geotechnical parameters and depth of excavations in burdensome soils, through the application of finite element software. For this, 5 geotechnical studies developed in Metropolitan Lima (Santa Anita, San Isidro, Miraflores and San Luis) were taken as a reference, where various tests were used in order to obtain parameters necessary for their modeling. For example, thanks to these studies, ranges were determined for the geotechnical parameters (Angle of friction, Cohesion and Specific Weight) that will be considered in the modeling of the case studies. According to these studies, the Angle of Friction ranges from 25 ° to 46 °; Cohesion between 10 kPa and 84 kPa; while the Specific Weight has a range from 18 kN / m3 to 24 kN / m3. The excavations that will be evaluated during this investigation will be 8m, 12m and 16m deep and will also have ranges for the Modulus of Elasticity (E50) and the Coefficient of loading and unloading (Eur) necessary to analyze the physical behavior of the soil.
The results obtained after using the Hardening Soil Constitutive Model were that as the friction Angles of the soil and the Modulus of Elasticity (E50) increase, the displacements gradually decrease (we are talking about an inversely proportional relationship). Likewise, there is a directly proportional relationship between excavation depth, modulus of elasticity and soil displacements considering an anchored reinforcement system. / Tesis

[en] FORMULATION AND SOME APPLICATIONS OF MATERIAL POINT METHOD IN GEOTECHNICAL PROBLEMS IN STATIC AND DYNAMIC CONDITIONS / [pt] FORMULAÇÃO E ALGUMAS APLICAÇÕES DO MPM (MATERIAL POINT METHOD) EM PROBLEMAS DE GEOTECNIA EM CONDIÇÕES ESTÁTICAS E DINÂMICASLUCAS LUDEÑA GUTIERREZ 10 May 2018 (has links)
[en] In geotechnical problems can happen large strains because of prolonged rains, earthquake, slide slope, etc. Material point method is a solution method based on the finite element method (FEM) which offers advantages for static and dynamic calculation that involve that kind of strains. The objective in this dissertation is to use the MPM in geotechnical problems in statics and dynamics conditions. This research shows the analysis procedure of MPM for uncoupled condition (only solids, without water) and then coupled. Before the mathematical theory of MPM, a review of the theory of FEM in the conservation of quantidade de movimento is done. In this two methodology were raised three examples. The first one is a soil column that was modeled elastically, in which the main objective in to analyze the vertical displacement because of own weight. This was solved by four different methods: analytically, FEM weighted residual, FEM conservation of momentum, and MPM. All of them consider only the solid phase. The second example is a square of soil with side 1 meter, where the objective is to know the pore-pressure in the permanent condition and at the same time the vertical displacement were generated, it means that the analysis is coupled and were solved by MPM. In order to make a more realistic application, Palo Redondo dam is analyzed (uncoupled condition), which belongs to the Chavimochic project located in La Libertad, region of Perú. This dynamic analysis was done considering two constitutive models: Elastic and Mohr Coulomb, additionally seismic forces.

Numerical modeling of failure processes in steel fiber reinforced cementitious materials.Bitencourt Júnior, Luís Antônio Guimarães 10 November 2014 (has links)
This work presents a numerical strategy developed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) to simulate the failure process of Steel Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites (SFRCCs). The material is described as a composite made up by three phases: a cementitious matrix (paste, mortar or concrete), discrete discontinuous fibers, and a fiber-matrix interface. A novel coupling scheme for non-matching finite element meshes has been developed to couple the independent generated meshes of the bulk cementitious matrix and a cloud of discrete discontinuous fibers based on the use of special finite elements developed, termed Coupling Finite Elements (CFEs). Using this approach, a nonrigid coupling procedure is proposed for modeling the complex nonlinear behavior of the fiber-matrix interface by adopting an appropriate constitutive damage model to describe the relation between the shear stress (adherence stress) and the relative sliding between the matrix and each fiber individually. This scheme has also been adopted to account for the presence of regular reinforcing bars in the analysis of reinforced concrete structural elements. The steel fibers are modeled using two-node finite elements (truss elements) with a one-dimensional elastoplastic constitutive model. They are positioned using an isotropic uniform random distribution, considering the wall effect of the mold. Continuous and discontinuous approaches are developed to model the brittle behavior of the bulk cementitious matrix. For the former, an isotropic damage model including two independent scalar damage variables for describing the composite behavior under tension and compression is considered. The discontinuous approach is based on a mesh fragmentation technique that employs degenerated solid finite elements in between all regular (bulk) elements. In this case, a tensile damage constitutive model, compatible with the Continuum Strong Discontinuity Approach (CSDA), is proposed to predict crack propagation. To increase the computability and robustness of the continuum damage models used to simulate the failure processes in both of the strategies, an implicit-explicit integration scheme is used. Numerical analyses are performed throughout the presentation of the work. Initially, numerical examples with a single reinforcement are presented to validate the technique and to investigate the influence of the fibers geometrical properties and its position relative to the crack surface. Then, more complex examples involving a cloud of steel fibers are considered. In these cases, special attention is given to the analysis of the influence of the fiber distribution on the composite behavior relative to the cracking process. Comparisons with experimental results demonstrate that the application of the numerical tool for modeling the behavior of SFRCCs is very promising and may constitute an important tool for better understanding the effects of the different aspects involved in the failure process of this material.
