Sistemas inteligentes para monitoramento e diagnósticos de falhas em motores de indução trifásicos / Intelligent systems for faults monitoring and diagnosis in three-phase induction motors

O objetivo desta tese consiste na implementação de sistemas inteligentes para monitoramento e diagnósticos de falhas ocorrentes em motores de indução trifásicos. Para tanto, desenvolveu-se uma bancada de experimentos que visa ensaios de falhas relacionados a curto-circuito entre as bobinas do enrolamento de estator, quebras nas barras da gaiola de esquilo do rotor e, finalmente, rolamentos defeituosos. Mais especificamente, o enfoque principal consiste na proposição de uma abordagem neural de detecção de quebras nas barras de rotores de motores de indução trifásicos mediante a análise do espectro de frequência e aplicação de técnicas de análise das componentes principais. Considerou-se o acionamento do motor de indução tanto pela tensão de alimentação da rede quanto por inversor trifásico em diferentes frequências, operando sob diversas condições de torque de carga para a avaliação da metodologia. / The objective of this thesis consists of the implementation of intelligent systems for three-phase induction motors fault diagnosis and condition monitoring. Therefore, an experimental test stand for stator winding inter-turn short circuit faults, broken rotor bar in squirrel cage and, finally, defective wheel bearing has been designed. The main focus is to propose a neural network approach, which uses spectral frequency analysis and principal component analysis techniques to detect broken rotor bar in squirrel cage induction motor. Induction motor operating at different load torque conditions and supplied with sinusoidal voltage supply and three-phase inverter at different frequency was considered in the experiment for methodology evaluation.

Sendo assim, muitas delas estão investindo em sistemas de monitoramento e rastreamento com o objetivo de melhorar os serviços, reduzir perdas e garantir maior segurança no transporte de carregamentos. Esta dissertação apresenta o SafeTrack, um modelo para rastreamento e monitoramento logístico focado em fornecer segurança durante a distribuição de carregamentos, a fim de identificar em tempo real possíveis roubos de veículos e de cargas transportadas. Através do SafeTrack, empresas de transporte podem rastrear e obter informações em tempo real sobre seus carregamentos. O SafeTrack apresenta um gerenciamento de viagens automático para inicializar e finalizar viagens sem necessitar a interação do usuário. Além disso, fornece um mecanismo para monitorar a ocorrência de desvios de rotas planejadas e erros durante entregas e coletas de carregamentos, enviando notificações de alarmes aos responsáveis através de dispositivos móveis. Para construir esse mecanismo, foram estudados conceitos de cerca eletrônica e técnicas existentes para preparar duas soluções que possibilitam descobrir, continuamente, a ocorrência de desvios em rotas planejadas. As soluções propostas foram comparadas e discutidas. Um componente denominado SafeDuíno foi desenvolvido visando realizar o controle de entradas e saídas de carregamentos no veículo. A decisão sobre a ocorrência de inconsistências durante o fluxo logístico é realizada através da fusão de informações de contextos, obtidas através do SafeDuíno e de um dispositivo móvel. As informações utilizadas são: evento de entrada/saída do carregamento, data e horário da ocorrência, código do carregamento e coordenadas GPS no momento do evento. Uma avaliação funcional também foi realizada, na qual um cenário de teste foi executado vinte vezes, mostrando que o modelo proposto possui uma boa taxa de eficiência. Além disso, foi realizada uma análise de impacto sobre a precisão GPS e consumo de energia nos dispositivos móveis utilizados. Após os testes, o modelo proposto demonstrou ser estável e confiável para realizar o monitoramento de carregamentos. / The cargo transport represents the largest share of logistics costs in most companies. Thus, companies are investing in monitoring and tracking systems aiming at improving services, reducing costs and ensuring the safety in cargos transports. This dissertation presents the SafeTrack, a model for logistics tracking and monitoring focused on safety during the distribution of cargo. The proposed model identify in real time possible thefts of carrier vehicles and cargo carried. Furthermore, it allows transport companies to track and to get realtime information about carrier vehicles and cargo. The SafeTrack presents an automatic travel management to initialize and finalize travels without requiring user interaction. Furthermore, it provides a mechanism to monitor detours in planned routes and to send alarms notification through mobile devices. To build that mechanism were studied Geofence concept and existing techniques to prepare two solutions that enable discover continuously the occurrence of deviations of planned routes. Those solutions were compared and discussed. A component named SafeDuíno was developed to make the control of inputs and outputs of cargo on the vehicle. The decision on the occurrence of inconsistencies during the logistic flow is performed through the fusion of contexts information obtained from SafeDuíno and a mobile device. The information used are: event of input / output load, date and time of the occurrence, EPC code of load and GPS coordinates at the time of the event. A functional evaluation was also performed, in which a test scene was executed twenty times, showing that the proposed model has a good efficiency rate. In addition, we provide an impact analysis regarding GPS precision and battery power consumption. After the tests, we concluded that the proposed model generates a reliable system for tracking vehicles.

A ferramenta, denominada SAAPIEnS,torna possível que o professor elabore objetos de aprendizagem customizáveis no domínio específico de dedução natural na lógica proposicional. Com base em um conjunto de ações, regradas por estratégias de ensino, almeja-se também instrumentalizar o docente no acompanhamento das atividades realizadas pelos alunos no ambiente computacional, apoiando o processo de avaliação do nível dedesempenho alcançado pelos alunos. Isso é feito por meio de um subsistema que oferece serviços de visualização e análise de dos conjuntos de interações dos alunos com os objetos de aprendizagem. A ferramenta é disponibilizada tanto via Web quanto via local (desktop), visando a uma maior flexibilidade para professor e alunos. Os possíveis impactos dessa ferramenta foram avaliados através de cenários hipotéticos de uso, que ilustram as principais contribuições possíveis para esse tipo de ferramenta. / With the increasing use of information and communication technologies in education, it becomes necessary to create supporting tools which can assist teachers in planning and implementing lessons as well as monitoring the process of teaching and learning. In some cases, access to these technologies, coupled with limited technical knowledge on the part of teachers, can compromise the way the contents are developed and used by students. This is the main research area of this dissertation, which aims to make this process more proficient, at least in the context of teaching natural deduction in the discipline of logic, through the creation of an intelligent authoring tool of learning objects, which also allows the teacher to follows the use of these educational materials by students. The tool, called SAAPIEnS, makes it possible for the teacher to prepare customizable learning objects in the specific domain of natural deduction in propositional logic. Based on a set of actions, regulated by a set of teaching strategies, the goal is to help teachers to monitor the activities performed by students in the computing environment, supporting the process of assessing the level of performance achieved by the students. This is done by means of a subsystem, which offers visualization and analysis service of the sets of interactions of students with learning objects. The tool supports Web and local (desktop) interfaces, giving greater flexibility for teachers and students. The possible impacts of this tool were evaluated through hypothetical usage scenarios that illustrate the main possible contributions to this type of tool.

Factors Affecting Breastfeeding in Preterm Infants

Even though initiation of breastfeeding among term and preterm infants has increased, the incidence and duration among preterm infants continues to lag because of the unique challenges of breastfeeding preterm infants. African American mothers have the lowest rates of breastfeeding initiation and duration, and their preterm infants are less likely to receive breast milk while in the neonatal intensive care unit. The objective of this cross-€sectional quantitative study was to evaluate the relationship between breastfeeding and maternal sociodemographic factors as well as medical and obstetrical conditions for infants born between 32-€37 weeks gestational age in South Carolina from 2009 to 2011. The health belief model provided the framework for this study. Secondary data from the South Carolina Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System included 1,752 preterm pregnancies. Results of binary logistic regression and multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that mothers who were African American and those who had lower income, no Medicaid, and lower education level breastfed less frequently. Findings may be used to decrease neonatal, postnatal, and infant morbidity and mortality, and to increase breastfeeding knowledge and support to ensure successful breastfeeding of preterm infants beyond the hospital.

Den här rapporten vill vända på perspektiven. Den beskriver inte hur samhället anser att miljölagstiftningen och miljötillsynen ska fungera. Här beskrivs istället hur företagen upplever hur den lagstadgade egenkontrollen fungerar i deras egen verksamhet och hur de upplever hur kommunens miljötillsyn fungerar. Forsk­ningen om miljötillsyn är begränsad och har hittills inte haft företagens perspek­tiv. Det är viktigt att både samhällets och företagens perspektiv lyfts fram. Bägge parter behöver arbeta på en enad front för att gemensamt kunna uppnå målet om en hållbar utveckling. Denna fallstudie, med ett begränsat antal företag i två olika kommuner, lyfter fram och bekräftar företagens syn på tillsynsmyndighetens arbete. Detta är en viktig del i dessa miljökontors kvalitetsarbete men även för framtida utveckling och användning av tillsynsmetoder. Företagen ger överlag en positiv bild om hur miljötillsynen och egenkontrollen fungerar. Egenkontrollen är ett viktigt och fungerande verktyg för de verksamheter som bedriver ett aktivt och systematiskt miljöarbete. För en mindre verksamhet kan dock system som bygger på dokumenterade rutiner kännas tungarbetat. Tillsynen upplevs ske i en givande dialog mellan myndighet och företag. Rådgivningen uppskattas och är värdefull för företagens miljöarbete. Företagarna förväntar sig däremot en mer omfattande rådgivning än vad som är myndighetens uppgift enligt lagstiftaren. / This report does not describe the way in which society considers how environmental legislation and environmental monitoring should work. Instead it describes the experience of a number of companies of the self monitoring system and the municipality's environmental monitoring functions. The research about environmental monitoring is limited and has not focused on the perspective of companies. It is important to elucidate the perspectives of both society and companies. Both parties work is needed in order to achieve sustainable development. The results of this case study brings out and confirms the view of a limited number of companies on the monitoring authority’s work. This is an important part in the quality work of the studied authorities, but is also necessary for future development and use of monitoring methods. The companies in the study give a positive picture about how the environment monitoring and the self monitoring system work. The self monitoring system is an important tool for a company which has an ongoing and structured environmental management system. For a smaller company systems that build on documented procedures, may however, be perceived as a burden. Another result of the study is that the companies experience the authorities´ monitoring as a rewarding dialogue between them and the authority. The advice given by the authority is appreciated and valuable for the companies' environmental work. Nevertheless, the entrepreneurs expect more extensive support than the authority can provide due to the legislation.

A Study of Application of RCM in the Steel Plant

The management of equipment based on Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) has been widely applied with great success in several industries such as military, commodity production, civil airliners, nuclear power plant and the petroleum industry since the reprint of RCM-II written by John Moubray in 1997.The application of RCM not only increases the reliability of the equipment and the assets of a company but also promotes the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), which includes the excellent ok yield to order and the better productivity of the equipment. As a methodology, RCM differs from the traditional equipment maintenance in the aspect of emphasis of maintaining the ¡§function¡¨ of the equipment instead of the equipment itself. Therefore, the need of equipment maintenance results from the speed and the severity of function loss, which determines the strategy and interval of equipment maintenance. This is the major difference between RCM and time based maintenance (TBM). This article discusses the critical success factors that drive the application of RCM in steel plant. The result reveals that the application of RCM could promote the reliability of equipment, cut the cost of maintenance and increase compatibility of the steel plant. In order to facilitates the implementation of RCM in the steel mill, the basic skills of the management includes the construction of vision¡Bconsensus¡Bthe set up of regulation and the cultivation of innovating culture. so as to build an effective managing teamwork features in strong execution. As for the equipment management both the standardization and the strict deviation of equipment function(6£m) are vital to sustain the excellent equipment reliability. The Integration of Maintenance Management System(IMMS) consists of three components, CMMS(Computerized Maintenance Management System) and RTMS(Real Time Monitoring System) link by RCM. RCM acts as a bridge for the information flow of maintenance management in the IMMS and promotes the effectiveness of maintenance management.

Data Mining Methods For Clustering Power Quality Data Collected Via Monitoring Systems Installed On The Electricity Network

Increasing power demand and wide use of high technology power electronic devices result in need for power quality monitoring. The quality of electric power in both transmission and distribution systems should be analyzed in order to sustain power system reliability and continuity. This analysis is possible by examination of data collected by power quality monitoring systems. In order to define the characteristics of the power system and reveal the relations between the power quality events, huge amount of data should be processed. In this thesis, clustering methods for power quality events are developed using exclusive and overlapping clustering models. The methods are designed to cluster huge amount of power quality data which is obtained from the online monitoring of the Turkish Electricity Transmission System. The main issues considered in the design of the clustering methods are the amount of the data, efficiency of the designed algorithm and queries that should be supplied to the domain experts. Comparison Of Linear And Adaptive Versions Of The Turkish Pupil Monitoring System (pms) Mathematics Assessment

Until the developments in computer technology, linear test administrations within classical test theory framework is mostly used in testing practices. These tests contain a set of predefined items in a large range of difficulty values for collecting information from students at various ability levels. However, placing very easy and very difficult items in the same test not only cause wasting time and effort but also introduces possible extraneous variables into the measurement process such as possibility of guessing, chance of careless errors induced by boredom or frustration. Instead of administering a linear test there is another option that adapts the difficulty of test according to the ability level of examinees which is named as computerized adaptive test. Computerized adaptive tests use item response theory as a measurement framework and have algorithms responsible for item selection, ability estimation, starting rule and test termination. The present study aims to determine the applicability of computerized adaptive testing (CAT) to Turkish Pupil Monitoring System&rsquo / s (PMS) mathematics assessments. Therefore, live CAT study using only multiple choice items is designed to investigate whether to obtain comparable ability estimations. Afterwards, a Monte Carlo simulation study and a Post-hoc simulation study are designed to determine the optimum CAT algorithm for Turkish PMS mathematics assessments. In the simulation studies, both multiple-choice and open-ended items are used and different scenarios are tested regarding various starting rules, termination criterion, ability estimation methods and existence of exposure/content controls. The results of the study indicate that using Weighted Maximum Likelihood (WML) ability estimation method, easy initial item difficulty as starting rule and a fixed test reliability termination criterion (0.30 standard error as termination rule) gives the optimum CAT algorithm for Turkish PMS mathematics assessment. Additionally, item exposure and content control strategies have a positive impact on providing comparable ability estimations.

Utvärdering av elektriska fördelningssystem i medicinska utrymmen / Investigation of electric distribution systems in medical areas

Detta examensarbete har utförts genom ÅF Industry i Trollhättan. Syftet med arbetet är att jämföra två elektriska fördelningssystem i medicinska utrymmen. I sjukhusmiljöer är tillgängligheten av elförsörjning av största vikt. Spänningsbortfall för livsuppehållande utrustning kan få förödande konsekvenser för berörd patient. Svensk standard förespråkar TN-S-system gentemot den europeiska standarden som anser att IT-system är mest lämpligt i dessa utrymmen. Genom att belysa dessa två systems för- och nackdelar kan ett samlat underlag sammanställas som senare används som beslutsunderlag för framtida kunder. Examensarbetet exemplifieras på Östra sjukhuset där befintligt IT-system skall uppgraderas.Skillnaden mellan dessa två fördelningssystem är deras förbindelse med jordpotential. TN-S-system har direkt förbindelse med jord jämfört med IT-system som är helt eller delvis isolerat från jord. Jordfel i TN-S-system kan generera höga felströmmar vilket kan jämföras med IT-system där minimal felström uppstår vid isolationsfel. IT-system och dess isolationsövervakningssystem kan dock anses som mer komplext jämfört med TN-S som är ett vanligare och mer vedertaget fördelningssystem i Sverige.Rapporten konstaterar att IT-system har en stor fördel gentemot TN-S-system. Anledningen är att eventuella jordfelsströmmar i TN-S-system kan bli så pass höga att säkring eller jordfelsbrytare riskerar frånkoppla fördelningssystemet. Denna problematik existerar inte i IT-system då endast små felströmmar uppstår vid isolationsfel. Rekommendationen är att bestycka dessa utrymmen med IT-system med tillhörande isolationsövervakning. Denna tekniska lösning medför tillfredsställande person- och patientsäkerhet med avseende mot elsäkerheten. / This bachelor thesis has been carried out at AF Industry. The purpose of the thesis is to compare two electric distribution systems for medical areas. In medical areas the availability of electric power always has to be maintained. Power failure of life supporting equipment will generate major risks to the patient in question. Swedish standard promotes TN-S-systems compared to the European standard that promotes IT-systems for medical areas. By comparing the advantage and disadvantage of these two systems there can be a complete report compiled, which purpose is to be used to support decision making for future customers. This bachelor thesis will be exemplified in Östra sjukhuset where existing IT-systems will be upgraded.The basic difference between these two electric power systems is their connection to earth. TN-S-systems has direct connection to earth compared to IT-systems that has none or partially connection with earth. Earth fault in TN-systems can generate major current compared to IT-systems where isolations fault generates minimal current. However IT-systems and their isolation monitoring systems might appear as a more complex system compared to TN-S which is a more accepted system in Sweden.The report states that IT-systems has major advantage against TN-systems. The reason is that potential earth fault currents in TN-S-systems might end up disconnecting the fuse or residual current breaker of affected distribution system. This issue doesn't exist in IT-systems where minor fault current is generated from isolation fault. Therefore the recommendation is to equip these medical areas with IT-systems and the associated insulation monitoring systems. This technical solution provides adequate safety for both personal and patients regarding to electrical safety.
