A construção da cena: Cindy Sherman e Stan Douglas / -Flávia Tresinari Bertinato 02 December 2013 (has links)
This study aims to shed light on the work of Cindy Sherman (1954-) and Stan Douglas (1960-), and proposes as its start-point not only the procedures that have been used by both of the artists in their creative process, but also the interest they have demonstrated in the mass culture as a subject for their work. In addiction to that, we intend to evince the type of conventions specific to the media in relation to its images and their modus operandi. By and large, it is well known that the repertoire of images subsidized by mass media correspond to those exposed in order to provide immediate access and in large scale.

Experimental study of eletrochemical migration of electronic soldering Sn/Ag/Cu \"lead free\".Mendes, Luiz Tadeu Freire 10 June 2009 (has links)
It is well known that in printed circuits boards assembled by SMT technology may occur Electrochemical migration (ECM). This phenomenon appears mainly because the new packaging has the terminals very close. Also the Electrochemical migration may become a potential reliability problem in electronic soldering when lead free technology is used in soldering electronic devices. Electrochemical migration is an electrochemical process where metal on an insulating material, in a humid environment and under an applied electric field, leaves its initial location in ionic form and redeposit. In a PCB two adjacents terminal may behave as electrodes so the dendrites grow from cathode to anode. It can show different morphologies with the different migration elements involved depending on the solder paste composition or PCB surface finishing. A structure with a comb shape printed on FR4 substrate was used in the experiments. The distance between the fingers in the structure was 102 or 254 microns, in order to simulate a real distance between dispositive terminals. The factors considered during the experiments were surface finishing (ENIG or HASL), solder paste composition, distance between terminals (102 or 254 microns) and applied voltage (2 or 3 V). It was observed that the solder paste and the surface finishing dont influence the ECM process. Tin was the main metal that migrates. All the results obtained in these study agrees with the literature.

Previous issue date: 2012-10-30 / The subject of this research is photojournalism and its montage in printed news, being
limited to the analyses of photo-essays by Sebastião Salgado in Folha de S. Paulo. The main
objective is to investigate the possibility of, through photojournalistic montage, triggering a
relational cognitive process in the reader, who would then start to construct alternative
visibilities from a given visualitity, questioning the fixed nature of knowledge. Therefore, the
problem lies in the possible performance of photojournalism as a counter-dispositive through
artistic procedures and the construction of temporalities. It is a hypothesis that the journalistic
discourse acts as a dispositive, naturalizing market logic and reducing the potential of the
images to mere esthesis. Another hypothesis suggests that the image monument presents a
single homogeneous point of view of the news that does not correspond to popular imagery,
which articulates itself with a variety of cultural texts, in a cultural and temporal regime
specific to latin-american societies. This research is built around Image and Media Theories,
and Culture Semiotics, in its attempt to further understand the communicative processes of
photojournalism. To this end, it will discuss Rancière s theory (2009a e 200b) about image
operations from the aesthetic point of view, Agamben´s theory (2008) regarding the
dispositive, Debord s (1997) Society of the Spectacle , and Morin s (2008) complex
understanding of the social-cultural processes. Temporality and its construction through mass
media s narratives, the monumentalizing process of images, as well as the post-modern
tendency of the eternal present time will be analyzed with the help of the works of Lavoie
(2003), Bellevance (2003) and Latour (2009). It will explore the relation between theses
theories and Benjamin s philosophy (1987, 2007, 2008) regarding history and technical
reproduction, as well as Didi-Huberman s (1998) reading of Benjamin s dialectical image.
Also relevant for this research are the works of Lotman (1969, 1996, 1999), Santos (2010) e
natureza fixa do conhecimento.
a simples estesia.

Through the articulation between the concept of artistic text of Juri Lotman and the theory of intellectual cinema of Sergei Eisenstein, this work offers an analysis of the film Humble life (1997) of Aleksandr Sokurov. Eisenstein\'s studies on the compositional thought on the logic of images, gave rise to a compilation of analytical tools in order to investigate the overall image of the film. Thus, analyzing the relationship between the construction of the plastic film and the overall image of a humble life. Still aligned to Eisenstein\'s theory of montage, this image is proposed as an intellectual result from three other images: circularity, harmony and homology. In this way the film is scanned in order to emphasize the formal elements that enables us to decode it as abstract qualities.

This thesis, have the object of a lonely film, that Jean-Luc Godard titled: Histoire(s) du Cinema (meaning History(ies) of Cinema) It consists of two distinct specular studies movements: before the film and after the film. The first part of our thesis try to produce a genealogy of this film. So by establishing the various and numerous projects that have resulted in a multiple versions, which have been disseminated in a parcel of time. The date that we have shown in our title corresponds to the widest possible framing, corresponding between his first writing project: « Moi, Je » (meaning Me, Myself & I) in 1973 and the releasing date of his latest version of the movie: « MOMENTS CHOISIS D’HISTOIRE(S) DU CINÉMA » (meaning Selected Moments of History(s) of Cinema "in 2004. Then in a second part, our reflection aimed at questioning two kinds of earlier elements which therefore predetermined to want to make this movie. The first being Godard himself and the traces he left before the film and the second domain concerns some people around him who were the Guardian figures: Langlois, Malraux and Bazin. The third part begins the aspect that was named after the film. It consists in producing a critique of the movie by first leading our own subjectivity to operate a plan by precise plan of the first fifteen sequences, raising the bet that it provides us with a fairly representative aesthetic range of the film. Then we have listed a lot of criticisms that have been made (up to 2008) because it seems indicative of the types of speeches that we hold in front of the film, revealing this cinematic object in the world of cinema. From a certain view we have established a pre-bibliography of the film by which this study ends.

Previous issue date: 2018-02-22 / The focus on this research was promote analytics and theories studies in short narratives,
highlighted the instances of the narrative discourse meaning production, establish the relations of
Lacraus’ short narratives textual construction, by Miguel Jorge, separating the frames and
montage process and other arts approaching. The study emphasis was the textual architecture that
promotes text and reader interaction, text effect and reception, as a contemporaneity conjunction:
genre hybridization and verify the tension actions in narrative linear and non-linear discourse in
focus. In way to accomplish the general and specifics objectives of this research, some Miguel
Jorge’s narrative texts was used in a way to analyze the theory and analytic fundamentals. From
Miguel Jorge’s works, it was observed the construction process adopted by the author on the
character’s constructions as a way to capture and silence them. Between a variety of theory
authors used in this study, Alfredo Bosi, Aguinaldo J. Gonçalves, Boris A. Uspênski, Eleazar M.
Meletínski, Gerard Genette, Robert Humphrey, Roland Barthes and Tzvetan Todorov had an
effective influence on the critical thinking.
Bosi, Aguinaldo J. Gonçalves, Boris A. Uspênski, Eleazar M. Meletínski, Gerard Genette, Robert
Humphrey, Roland Barthes, Tzvetan Todorov.

Previous issue date: 2008-05-19 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This doctorate thesis tries to understand how spacialitites
are built in cinema and television. Based on this main problem,
other related issues are also studied: the existing relationships
between space constructibility and audiovisual montage; the way
movie spacialities communicate with television constructibilities and
the communicative relations established between the studied
spacialities and the viewer.
Consequently, the main objective of this study is to
contribute to research on space organization forms in media
systems and on the ways these construction provide senses. Thus,
the study is related to others whose study object is spacialities,
aiming to investigate analysis categories that may clear out their
articulation forms.
The analysis corpus is divided into two groups. The first one,
related to cinema, consists of two movies: A ostra e o vento (Walter
Lima Jr./1997) and Elephant (Van Sant/ 2003). The second one,
related to television, consists of the first journey of the micro series
Hoje é dia de Maria, directed by Luiz Fernando Carvalho, in 2005.
The main methodological analysis strategy is the
comparative reading of the texts through ordering forms of montage
spacialities. Among them, the comparative analysis allows
detecting different forms of space design and also helps the
perception and understanding of contamination borders between
languages.
In order to do the reading and investigation of the analysis
corpus, this study uses the space analysis categories spatiality,
visuality, visibility and communicability - proposed by Prof. Dr.
Lucrécia D Alessio Ferrara; the concept of montage studied by the
Russian movie maker Sergei Eisenstein; the notions of border,
cultural text, memory and intelligent dispositive among system
proposed by Iuri Lotman; and also the notions of image, diagram
and metaphor studied by semioptician Charles Sanders Peirce.
Due to the proposed theme, this idea interweaving is fundamental
to understand how the space is thought of and ordered in montage
through the existing conflicting spacialities among sign and cultural
construtibilidades do espaço e a montagem audiovisual; o modo
investigadas e o espectador.
Dessa forma, a pesquisa
A ostra e o vento (Walter Lima Jr./1997) e Elefante (Van Sant/
espacialidade, visualidade, visibilidade e comunicabilidade ,
propostas pela Profa. Dra.

Previous issue date: 2008-10-10 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The present research castes some elements to map the specificities of the essay-documentary. The Brazilian documentary s production has grown progressively in the last two decades, however a part of it no longer limits itself to a reproduction of the reality, characteristic traditionally associated to that type of production. In order to study those new works, this Master s Dissertation broadens the documentary concept to essay-documentary , acknowledging it as a subjective reflection about the world. That perspective is an unfolding of the concept of film essay, from Arlindo Machado, which reaches the productions that overpass the limits of the documentary and do not ties to the dichotomy between fiction and non-fiction or to the concern with a truth as a mirror of the reality. About the essay, it is adopted the concept of Theodor Adorno, which refers to the construction of an experimental and not totalitarian speech. To think the documentary as audiovisual, it gets back to Jean-Claude Bernadet, which contrasted that feature in the Brazilians contemporary documental productions. It is chosen to study the construction of that writing through the montage or the conceptual editing. To understand the montage, it returns to the concepts proposed by Serguei Eisenstein and Dziga Vertov, and followed by the video language according to Philippe Dubois and Arlindo Machado, until it arrives to the concept of metamedium and of montage as a spatial composition, proposed by Lev Manovich. At last, in order to consolidate the essay-documentary, it is chosen works which allowed establishing a dialogue between the theoretical perspectives approached. In this sense, it is presented an analysis divided in three sub themes: the montage of the visual speech, the montage of the sonorous speech and the symbolic montage. Each one of those sub themes is approached from a key-documentary, with the aim of realizing a reflection more deepen: Andarilho (Cao Guimarães), Sonoroscópio SP: polifonia da imigração (Kiko Goifman e Rachel Monteiro) and Nós que aqui estamos por vós esperamos (Marcelo Masagão). The selection tried to stand out production which was not restricted to the verbal as a speech composition strategy, but which adopted both images and soundtracks to build a symbolic documental writing / A presente pesquisa elenca alguns elementos para mapear as especificidades do documentário-ensaio.
