Por fim, é apresentada a autoavaliação da pesquisadora, oportunizando e revelando maior conscientização sobre o ensinar e o aprender nesse ambiente musical / Abstract: This research had as main objectives to deepen discussions on education in the discipline of Musical Perception and to propose the theory of self-regulated learning as reflective lead of matter, both aiming the purpose of their improvement in the university context. Assosiasie en koördinasie van notasie met klawers by die ontwikkeling van 'n leesvermoë by die klavierbeginner

Hesse, Maria Elizabetha 30 November 2005 (has links)
The study substantiates common strategies and theories regarding the teaching of sight-reading. The literature study done on sight-reading at the keyboard consists of opinions and recommendations resulting from empirical findings of well-known piano pedagogues. Seven beginner courses were analysed in order to assess their presentation of a well-structured development of piano sight-reading against the opinions and recommendations of well-known piano pedagogues and authors in this field as well as the personal experience of the researcher. During this process it was discovered that insufficient attention was paid to the development of the association between a note symbol and its corresponding key on the piano. However no attention was paid to the act of playing while reading ahead. The researcher compiled additional progressive exercises for the 7 to 9 year old beginner, to address the above-mentioned discrepancies. The exercises and their individual purposes are clearly explained with instructions regarding their performance. / Art History, Visual Arts & Music / M.A. (Musicology)

This dissertation proposes to analyze, interpret and highlight the performance of the musicologist Oneyda Alvarenga, as director of São Paulo Municipal Public Record Collection (current Oneyda Alvarenga Record Collection), bringing to light his profile of poet, musicologist and ethnologist, and of Mario de Andrade, as Director of the City Department of Culture and creator of the section that included the operation of the Municipal Disco Hall; his role as mentor to Oneyda Alvarenga; the efforts of the intellectual modernistic, musicologist and critic of art to promote the search for means of truly national expression of Brazilian music. Challenges of mainstreaming indigenous African music at intermediate phase (Grades 4-6) in South African primary schools: A Case Study of three schools in Gauteng Province, South Africa

Mailula, Kgaogelo A. 18 May 2018 (has links)
MAAS / Centre for African Studies / Since its inception, the study of music in South African schools has been fashioned on Western Classical models. The change in orientation from the Eurocentric to the Afrocentric approach required that indigenous African music be accorded space in the curriculum. This study explores challenges in mainstreaming indigenous African music in the curriculum of South African primary schools. It specifically focuses on the Intermediate Phase (grades 4-6). This study enlists a variety of appropriate qualitative methodologies, such as interviews carried out with a sample of educators and schools. It also analysed relevant DVDs of indigenous African music performances. It is envisaged that findings emanating from this study will be of value to music educators, music curriculum planners, education specialists, and other stakeholders. The dissemination methods will include publications of relevant teaching materials for classroom purposes, as well as generating research articles for scholarly discourse. / NRF

Musicking at home on the wood that sings : contemporary marimba performance practices in Zimbabwe

Maguraushe, Wonder 06 1900 (has links)
Text in English, abstracts in English and Zulu / This thesis explores the current state of marimba music performance practice in Zimbabwe. I begin by presenting a historical perspective of the marimba, and then discuss how the Zimbabwe marimba tradition came into being at Kwanongoma College of African Music in Bulawayo. The study continues to unveil how the relatively new marimba tradition has grown to popularity in its 55-year history in the country, with the phenomenal emergence of professional Zimbabwe marimba musicians. The thesis includes analyses of marimba musicians’ lived experiences, traditional and contemporary marimba music compositions, marimba music education programs and mentors, as well as the Zimbabwe marimba construction industry. Using ethnographic methods, the analysis in this qualitative study draws on an application of Christopher Small, Richard Schechner, and Pierre Bourdieu’s theoretical perspectives, amongst others. Results show that marimba music performance practice in Zimbabwe has been kept alive in various permutations, albeit in a harsh economic environment. Education, passion for marimba music, cultural tourism, and festivities are the main avenues where Zimbabwe marimba music performance practice has survived on the margins of Zimbabwe’s popular musical cultural traditions. / Le thesis ihlola isimo samanje somculo wemarimba kanye nokuqhutshwa kwawo eZimbabwe.
