O presente trabalho consiste no estudo da pedagogia jesuítica utilizada na missão em terras brasílicas, com ênfase nas estratégias pedagógicas não institucionais adotadas a fim da formação do gentio como cristão e súdito da Coroa Portuguesa. A metodologia utilizada para a pesquisa consistiu na análise de algumas cartas jesuíticas, sobretudo as de Manuel da Nóbrega e de José de Anchieta, e também da leitura de outros documentos produzidos no contexto do século XVI. Além disso, a dissertação contou com a contribuição de estudiosos contemporâneos que tratam sobre o tema da pedagogia jesuítica. Pode-se concluir que os jesuítas por meio de uma Racionalidade própria utilizaram estratégias pedagógicas para a conversão e educação dos gentios em diversos locais de missionação. Essas estratégias utilizadas foram, inclusive, contestadas por autoridades religiosas da Igreja e da própria Companhia de Jesus. No entanto, apesar de contestadas, a justificativa para o uso dessas práticas fundamentou-se na necessidade de enfrentar a realidade das matas da América Portuguesa para realizar a missão: a conversão dos índios ad maiorem Dei gloriam. / This Master thesis consists in the study of the Jesuit pedagogy implemented in the mission on Brazilian lands, with emphasis on the non-institutional pedagogical strategies adopted to the formation of the Gentile as a Christian and subject of the Portuguese Crown. The methodology used for the research consisted in the analysis of some Jesuit letters, especially those from Manuel da Nóbrega and José de Anchieta, and also of the reading of other documents produced in the context of the sixteenth century. Besides that, the Master thesis counted on the contribution of contemporary scholars who deal with the issue of Jesuit pedagogy. One can conclude that the Jesuits, by means of an own Rationality, used pedagogical strategies for the conversion and education of the Gentiles in various places of Missionary. These strategies were even challenged by religious authorities of the Catholic Church and by the Society of Jesus itself. However, despite of beeing contested, the justification for using theses practices was based on the need to confront the reality of the forests of Portuguese America to accomplish the mission: the conversion of the Indians ad maiorem Dei gloriam. / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES

A cultura sexual brasileira foi forjada ao longo da história, na medida em que atitudes e comportamentos, valores e normas sociais, determinações religiosas e influências dos diferentes povos íam dando forma a essa cultura. A semente dessa cultura foi germinada durante o período colonial quando chegaram os primeiros conquistadores e teve início o processo de miscigenação racial. Na atribuição do que é certo ou errado, normal ou patológico, aceitável ou inadmissível está implícito, de acordo com Michel Foucault, um amplo exercício de poder que socialmente discrimina, separa e classifica. Desta forma, as relações e influências religiosas sob esse campo temático elucidam questões pertinentes que necessitam ser observadas para que se possa entender a difusão de idéias sexuais no período. A análise de 23 escritos do Padre Manuel da Nóbrega, primeiro jesuíta a trazer os preceitos cristãos da Companhia de Jesus para o Brasil, passou a ter grande relevância científica para o construto da educação sexual brasileira, posto que em suas linhas encontra-se rico material sobre as atitudes sexuais vigentes na sociedade brasileira do século XVI, juntamente com prescrições, valores e condutas consideradas aceitáveis pela Igreja. / The target of this work is investigate and analyze the conceptions about sexuality and sexual behaviors and conducts, build through incorporation of informations and values obtained under the view, rules and relations based with the Jesuit orientations in the first century of Brazilian colonial age, represented by Manuel da Nóbrega’s speech in his letters and it could be considered the first documents about the Brazilian sexual education. The Brazilian sexual culture was formed through the history, at the same time that acts and behaviors, values and social rules, religious determinations and foreigner influences gave to this culture a form. The seeds of this culture was formed during the Colonial age, at the first conquerors’ arrive and the miscegenation process begun. In the attribution of what is right or wrong, normal or pathological, acceptable or not are implicit, according Michel Foucault, a large exercise of power that socially discriminates, separates and classifies it. This way, the religious relations and influences under this thematic field solve relevant questions that need be observed in order to understand the distribution of sexual ideas in the period. The analysis of 23 Father Manuel da Nóbrega’s writings, first Jesuit to bring to Brazil the Christian precepts of Company of Jesus, it passed to gain large scientific relevance for the building of Brazilian sexual education, since that in his lines we can find extensive material about sexual attitudes used in sixteenth century Brazilian society, with prescriptions, values and behaviors considered acceptable for the Church.
