Požiūrio į netektį mirties atveju ugdymas katalikiškose šeimose / Development of the approach to loss in a death situation in catholic familiesGlobytė, Milda 14 February 2011 (has links)
No one is protected from losses such as the loss of dear friends, close people, pets, change of residence, loss of job etc. Each such loss is followed by deeply painful emotions – sadness, pain, anger, hopelessness. But the strongest and most painful loss is death.
Death is unavoidable in every man’s life. When a small baby is born in a family we rejoice, and when it’s time for someone to die a natural, unavoidable death, we grieve. The modern, hurrying and usually hedonistic society avoids talking about death. It’s very unusual to talk about death freely in families, it’s usually a “taboo” in our country. That’s exactly why it’s important to talk about it, because what’s kept in the dark, what’s being avoided, is usually wrongly imagined and understood.
In the conception of Christianity, death is not the end, but just a beginning. For a religious man, death should be hope, light, a meeting with God. Therefore, a question is about what approach to loss is being developed in catholic families. The purpose of this work is to answer that question.
In this work are discussed various losses, the meaning of the catholic faith in the context of death and, by help of the research, this work reveals the approach to death of the parents of the catholic families and the children’s development to their approach of natural death. Results of the research shows, that deeply religious people, for whom faith isn’t just a hope or relief, but the essential and most... [to full text]

Also the differences and similarities were stressed among the grieving and non-grieving children’s values internalization mechanisms. The survey has revealed both external and internal factors that may influence socialization processes for such children. Among external ones would be the experienced loss in the family, child’s status in the class, teacher’s attitude towards the child’s experienced loss, and educational help character. Among internal ones – child’s need to satisfy self identification through his/her attitude towards the experienced loss within family, towards the school, his/her status in the class, and self. The educational experiment allowed evaluating the effectiveness of main strategies to make grieving children’s socialization much favorable. Such children’s socialization becomes much easier, when it has helped them to: 1) have much positive (higher) status in the class, and 2) satisfy their need of self identification.
