The certified athletic trainer’s preparedness dealing with psychological issues of the collegiate student-athlete

Wieczorek, Mary H. January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Special Education, Counseling and Student Affairs / Fred Bradley / The purpose of this report is to review available literature that identifies various psychological issues collegiate student-athletes may face and how medical professionals, specifically certified athletic trainers (ATCs), are prepared to manage these psychological issues. Considering ATCs are in constant interaction with student-athletes in comparison to other medical professionals it is crucial that research is being completed to make sure athletic trainers are properly caring for student-athlete and acting quickly and appropriately to psychological issues. This report will review research on psychological aspects encountered by athletic trainers in contact with student-athletes, and; furthermore, the ATCs sense of comfort and competence in working with these issues. Questions may arise such as how well the ATC is able to assess the psychological issues and know when to assist or refer these matters, issues which may include training, competence, expectations, and ethical practice. Finally, the review of the research and literature in this area will lead to suggestions and implications for further research and continued understanding of the ATCs role in the psychological aspects of their work with student athletes.

Trust relationships in exchange protocols

González-Deleito Collell, Nicolás 20 December 2005 (has links)

A Study of Service Innovation and Consumer Purchase Intention- A Case of Certified Used Car

Lin, Yu-sheng 22 June 2012 (has links)
Over the past decade, the ratio of annual official listing in Taiwan between used cars and brand-new cars is 2:1, to show that car users increase the acceptance for used cars, also show that the market of used car in Taiwan will be expect with car dealers. However, there exist an asymmetric information situation in used car market for a long time, and it also the primary concern with consumers. Recently year, local used car dealers provide the certified system with used cars, through over hundred standardized inspections to certify the used car. Used car dealers expect to decrease the purchase risk with the concept of service innovation, and enhance the confidence in the minds of consumers. In this research, service innovation will compare with perceived risk-six dimensions from Peter & Tarpey in 1975. The goals of this research are find the mediator effect within service innovation, perceived risk and purchase intention, and the relationships between service innovation and purchase intention in certified used car market. Samples of 158 collected through questionnaire survey, verified the hypotheses by description statistics and regression analysis. The results showed that have the significant relationship between service innovation, perceived risk and purchase intention in certified used car market, moreover, the three variables did have the partial mediator effect. Base on the results, the suggestion for certified used car dealers as followed: dealers should provide multiple innovative services with customers, to decrease the perceived risk and enhance the purchase intention in the future.

Comparison of LEED to Non-LEED Certified Hospitals with Regards to Patient Perspective and Financial Indicators

Ulusoy, Eren 2012 August 1900 (has links)
As natural resources are decreasing and environmental pollution is increasing, the buildings that play an important role in this problem should be constructed sustainably so their affects are kept to a minimum. Hospitals operate 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, therefore they are one of the largest energy consumers. Hence designers have started to design healthcare facilities according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) criteria, believing that it will reduce waste production, energy consumption and increase patient satisfaction by creating brighter and less stressful facilities. To understand if the claims are correct or not, this thesis first studied the results of the patient survey, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and System (HCAHPS), undertaken at most of the hospitals in the U.S., and compares the results to LEED and non-LEED certified hospitals. To find answers for the claims related to the financial benefits, this thesis compared three financial indicators; cost of operation of plant, profitability, and inpatient revenue. In the cases where there is a large enough sample size, a t-test is used to compare two groups, however when the sample size was not large enough, two groups are compared based on their means. For the cost of operation of plant and profitability, non-LEED certified hospitals are performing better. However, the patient satisfaction and inpatient revenues are significantly higher at the LEED-certified hospitals.

To collect data, a qualitative approach was used through semi-structured interviews with seven farmers, which made it possible to understand farmers' perceptions regarding various health, environmental and social aspects. The interviews were composed of thematic blocks: history of the property, profile of the owner, characteristics of the area surrounding the home, environmental sanitation, associativism and environmental perception. The data were analyzed and discussed in a descriptive way based on previous studies and quotations on the subject, as well as excerpts from the producers' statements. The data infer that the fact of being organic producers did not configure as a determinant aspect so that the conditions of the sanitation in their properties were presented ideal, unlike the environmental perceptions. Note the importance of the research that portrays the perception of individuals, whose results reproduce the real needs and desires of the population in question, in the search for more efficient and structured public policies in the rural area.

Förvaltning av en BREEAM In-Use certifierad byggnad : Fastighetsförvaltning som verktyg för främjande av miljö och hållbar utveckling / Management of a BREEAM In-Use certified building : Property management as a tool for promotion of environment and sustainable development

Ögren, Tomas, Ökvist, Jesper January 2012 (has links)
This study has been conducted with emphasis on managing buildings according to  BREEAM In-Use, which is used as an environmental certification on existing  buildings. The report is oriented on the aspects of certifying the management and  organization carried out within the building. The connection between user and  manager is important to ensure that the goals within BREEAM are achieved. A tool to  encourage communication between these two sides is the green leases from  Fastighetsägarna, which has shown to be a necessary link.  It has been shown that  current management methods need to be extended in its routines and that  knowledge regarding BREEAM is necessary within the management. BREEAM In-  Use demands commitment and a continuous work and will result in a change of  behavior from the user, to achieve a high rating. Management has shown to have  great potential to work for less resource use and to ensure a sustainable long term  service life.

Creating fundraising professionals: the development of the certified fund raising executive credential

Aldrich, Eva E. 09 November 2017 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Credentialing has become an established albeit voluntary—and often debated— part of the fundraising profession. Despite this, scholarly attention to the phenomenon of credentialing for fundraising professionals has been woefully lacking. While the literature has discussed what the benefits of credentialing are to fundraisers and the general public, it has failed to research how particular credentials came to be and why they were created at a particular place and time. This study analyzes the origins of the first fundraising credential, the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential, which was first awarded in 1981. While touching briefly on the phenomenon of mass philanthropy that paved the way for the birth of fundraising as a profession in the early twentieth century, the study concentrates on the way in which early practitioner associations such as the American Association of Fundraising Counsel and the National Association of Fund Raising Executives worked to establish fundraising as a legitimate profession. They fended off external threats from government regulation and capitalized on opportunities to give shape to the profession through the development of criteria for determining professional standing, codes and standards of practice and, eventually, the self-regulatory mechanism of voluntary credentialing. The principal results and conclusions of this study are: 1) while the fundraising profession has been witness to major events impacting American philanthropy in the twentieth century, including the reification of philanthropy as an economic “third sector” through the impact of the Tax Reform Act of 1969, the fundraising profession as a whole has been largely disengaged from these events except when they have directly threatened the economic welfare of the profession; and 2) the creation of the CFRE credential was largely spurred by increased calls for self-regulation of fundraising in the late 1970s.

The Effect of National Board Certified Teachers on Mathematics Achievement for Students in a Title I School

Harris, Watress Lashun 14 December 2013 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to determine if there is a difference in mathematics mean scale score growth on the MCT2 mathematics assessment between students taught by national board certified teachers (NBCTs) and those taught by non-NBCTs in a low socioeconomic, high minority, Title I school. For this study, a causal-comparative research design and a statistical analysis procedure of ANCOVA were used to answer two research questions: First, is there a statistically significant difference in mathematics mean scale score growth on the MCT2 mathematics assessment between fourth grade African American and Caucasian students taught by NBCTs and those taught by non-NBCTs, while controlling socioeconomic status and 3rd grade MCT2 mathematics scale scores? Second, is there a statistically significant difference in mathematics mean scale score growth on the MCT2 mathematics assessment between fourth grade students by socioeconomic status based on eligibility for free/reduced or full pay lunch taught by NBCTs and those taught by non-NBCTs, while controlling race and 3rd grade MCT2 mathematics scale scores? The results of the analysis for research question one indicated that there was not a statistically significant difference in mathematics mean score growth on the MCT2 mathematics assessment between students by race taught by NBCTs and those taught by non-NBCT. African American and Caucasian students taught by NBCTs had a comparable mathematics mean scale score growth with African American and Caucasian students taught by non-NBCTs. The results of the analysis for research question two indicated that there was a statistically significant difference in mathematics mean score growth on the MCT2 mathematics assessment between students by socioeconomic status based on eligibility for full pay lunch taught by NBCTs and those students taught by non-NBCTs. Students identified as full pay lunch taught by NBCTs had a higher mathematics mean scale score growth than those students identified as full pay lunch taught by non-NBCTs. Students identified as free/reduced lunch status taught by non-NBCTs had comparable mean scale score growth with those students identified as free/reduced lunch status taught by NBCTs, but not statistically significant.

Are Mississippi Students Achieving at a Higher Rate as a Result of National Board Certified Teachers?

Holland, Jeanne Williams 13 May 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine if there was a statistically significant difference between the MCT scores (reading, math, and language arts) of two groups of students (those taught by a NBCT and those who were not), and if there was a difference, how those differences can be explained based on selected teacher demographic data (endorsement area of certification, sex, age, race, highest degree received, years of experience, and National Board Certification status). Teachers? National Board Certification (NBC) status and age were identified as variables that contribute to the difference in the reading, language arts, and math Mississippi Curriculum Test (MCT) scores. Students who were taught by National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) are more likely to have higher reading and language arts standardized test scores than students who were taught by non-NBCTs. While researchers have also concluded that teachers? years of experience, endorsement area (s), and highest degree received play a vital role in the differences found in students? achievement, this study did not confirm those findings. The results of this study, however, indicated that teachers whose ages ranged from 41-50 tend to have higher reading, language arts, and math MCT scores. The majority of teachers in this age group were NBCTs.
