Pimenta, Adelino Candido. January 2009 (has links)
Abstract: This study aims at presenting and discussing the process of designing and producing a Video Case in Hypertext, meant to be used both in pre- and in-service mathematics teacher education, so that those professionals can share others' experiences. Clips are accompanied by case questions (questions about the case) that try and foster discussion. From textual case studies one moves to video ones, which add a 'reality' component to the told stories, using the visual and sound resources available and, from that, we move to the hypertext format, which adds a navigational dynamics. In this study we present a prototype video-case in hypertext as the final product of the process. / Doutor

Les aspects criminologiques et pénaux des délits culturellement motivés / Criminological issues of culturally motivated crimes / Kryminologicznych i karnych aspektów przestępstwa kulturowo motywowane

Grzyb, Magdalena 27 May 2015 (has links)
The main research problem is how penal law and criminal policy inmulticultural and liberal states should react on culturally motivated crimes committed byimmigrants. The dissertation analyses the criminal justice responses of certain westerncountries to three types of so-called harmful traditional practices, which are fine examples ofconflict of cultures. Firstly, I analyse how European countries addressed following harmfultraditional practices: ‘honour’-related violence, female genital mutilation and forcedmarriages. Secondly, I present the concept of cultural defence, generic for common law, which is a strategy of defence for offenders for culturally motivated crimes. Thirdly, I studythe different contexts and responses to culturally motivated crimes in Europe and UnitedStates, so the international dimension of the problem. Finally, I culminate my dissertationwith the conclusion that criminal law and criminal justice in democratic liberal andmulticultural states should be a guarantor of the validity of consensus for equal and nondiscriminatoryprotection of basic values for all members of society regardless their ethnicorigin or gender.

Doan, Bach Khanh Van 03 1900 (has links)
The higher education, in specific the massification and reduction of the education budget, has created a context where teaching large groups of students has become a necessity, creating a challenge for university professors. Does the size of groups influence student success? Several studies, including those of Atkinson (2010); Milesi & Gamoran (2006) and Wulff et al. (1987), show that, in this teaching format, it is not the number of participants that matters, but the quality of teaching. In particular, Mulryan-Kyne's (2010) research points out that class size would not negatively influence learning if the teacher adopts teaching strategies adapted to the appropriate context. Faced with an increasingly heterogeneous audience and in the digital era, professors are making efforts to implement non-traditional practices geared towards student success and perseverance. As a result, this research aims to answer the following questions: What motivates university professors to implement non-lecturing pedagogical practices in the context of teaching large groups? And to the five specific questions: (1) What types of teaching have university professors experienced as students? (2) What reasons do university professors give for changing their teaching practices with large groups? (3) How have university professors experienced these changes in their teaching practices? (4) How are changes in teaching practices implemented by university professors? (5) How do university professors define large student groups? A qualitative study with semi-directed interviews was conducted with 21 professors from two universities in Quebec. Through thematic analysis and using paper support and QDA Miner software, our analysis highlighted, on the one hand, the process that seems to characterize the change in pedagogical practices among the professors we interviewed and, on the other hand, the main motivations that encouraged professors to engage in this change.

Sexual Satisfaction in Relationships

Kelley, Shakina 04 April 2020 (has links)
Sexual satisfaction is a major component of human behavior. Individuals in relationships have specific demands for sexual satisfaction. Relationships and societal trends may impact the standards for sexual performance. The effects of performance can result in negative transitions in relationships. Therefore, Individuals may also consider outside variables in addition to relationship status, length of relationships, sexual orientation, gender-role, and religiousness. This poster presentation will be based on a literature review. The review reveals positive effects of religiousness on sexual satisfaction for those married more than ten years. In comparison with social behaviors, gender-roles are not influenced by traditional or non-traditional beliefs. When social norms and sexual orientation are paired in correlation with satisfaction in relationships, gay men and lesbians rate higher than heterosexuals in the area of sexual satisfaction. When long-term and short-term relationships are measured based on sexual satisfaction, results indicate long-term relationships are successful due to active communication and no sexual dysfunctions.
