Ruský neziskový sektor: dopady zákona o zahraničních agentech / Russian NGO sector: Consequences of the Law on Foreign Agents

Dryndak, Roksolana January 2018 (has links)
The thesis deals with the Russian non-profit sector and the state restrictive policy directed towards it. Using a multi-case study, thesis examines the impact of the Foreign Agents Act on Civil Society organizations. At the introduction are identified two questions that thesis is dealing with. The first question was, what practical impacts the Foreign Agents Act had on non-profit organizations. For their identification was developed a typology, which included five types of consequences: bureaucratic burden, financial difficulties, public relations deterioration, access to public institutions and general pressure. This typology was applied to three case studies of non-profit organizations. The thesis concludes that these types are valid except for the deterioration of the relationship with the public sphere, which has not been proven. The second question was how this Law fits into the context of state strategies towards civil society between 2012 and 2017. The thesis comes with the assertion that this Act was the key legislation followed by subsequent Laws, that leads to division of the civil sector to several groups.

Moralisk stress inom ideellt socialtarbete i Sverige och Tanzania / Moral stress within nonprofit social work in Sweden and Tanzania

Cooper, Catarina, Ekström, Emma January 2023 (has links)
Moral distress is a phenomenon that can occur when a moral dilemma presents itself becauseof a collision between institutional limitations and personal values. Research shows that thephenomenon has a negative effect on social workers through various symptoms. However, there is a gap within the knowledge of the occurrence of the phenomenon among practitionersof social work within the nonprofit sector. The aim of this study is to examine if and in whatway moral distress occurs among practitioners of social work in the nonprofit sector and tomake a comparison between two different cultures through examining the phenomenon inboth Sweden and Tanzania. To examine the phenomenon, semi structured interviews havebeen conducted with three different organizations in each country which have later on beenanalyzed thematically. The results show both differences and similarities regarding theoccurrence of moral distress. Both countries face institutional limitations and risk factorssuch as, limited right of decision and shortage of staff, that can cause moral distress. Beyondthis there are also differences that can be explained by the cultural context and its conditionssuch as resistance from the client and its community. A distinguished similarity in bothcountries is the available peer support within the organization that seems to both prevent andremedy the experience of the moral distress.

Public Service Motivation im Nonprofit-Bereich : eine Fallstudie am Beispiel des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes / Public Service Motivation in the nonprofit sector: a case study using the example of the German Red Cross

Nijaki, Nadine January 2011 (has links)
Public Service Motivation (PSM) as a concept for the public sector is based on certain motives which are typical for public employees. The goal in attempting to transfer this construct to the nonprofit sector is to get a better understanding of motivation of employees and to extend the existing, somewhat scant findings in PSM research using a qualitative approach. This paper begins by presenting the theoretical background of PSM and refers to the developed theory of PSM by Perry (1996). The subsequent empirical section presents a case study which examines different types of appointments as well as areas of operation within the “German Red Cross”, a nonprofit organization. The results indicated here demonstrate the existence of PSM. Lastly, useful insights are delivered in terms of the influencing factors, this due in no small part to the choice of a qualitative study design. It may be noted that no significant difference in PSM is found between full-time employees and volunteer workers. By contrast, the way PSM is expressed by street-level workers differs widely from that of those working at an administrative level. In addition, the paper provides first attempts at an explanation and refers to the theory of the extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, as well as to self-determination theory.
