L’organisation des fantasmes originaires chez des enfants issus de la PMA / The organization of the original fantaisies in children issued by MAP

Chawbah, Myrna 09 November 2015 (has links)
The Medically Assisted Procreation results from a case complicated by sterility and the desire to have a child. It has its repercussions on the couple and the child conceived by dissociation between the parental sexual act and the procreation act, by the fact of having three triplets at once and the parents’ perplexity towards this all new situation. Of course this child’s primal scene fantasy which the other fantasies derive : seduction fantasy and the castration fantasy is the subject of assiduous researches: Where do I come from? How was I conceived? This mode of conception where the parental sexual act has failed will directly impact the oedipal structuration and organization of the original fantasies of the child. We will try to detect the fantasmatization of this child issued by the MAP and its effects of the oedipal organization and naturally through the psychoanalytical approach imposed throughout the case study of 9 triplets (4 boys and 5 girls of latency age) issued by this procreation mode. We organized our case study through a method that starts with the collection of anamnestic elements and continues after passing two projective tests: Family Aperception Test (FAT) and the Thematic Aperception Test (TAT).

The paternal function: conceptual and therapeutic relevance

Davies, Nicholas Charles Christopher January 2016 (has links)
: The construct of the ‘pre-oedipal’ paternal function, as distinct from the traditional ‘oedipal’ paternal function, is an important yet under-developed focus of study in both the field of infant development and psychoanalytic clinical practice. This thesis contributes towards the development of an integrated concept of the paternal function as well as to a deeper understanding of the different aspects of the construct and its application. A critical literature review of psychoanalytic literature on the ‘paternal function’ highlights an absence of recognition of the importance of the construct, as it is salient in the earliest period of infancy, and characterises it as fragmented and diversely understood when it is mentioned. Four aspects of the paternal function which appear to be the dominant aspects in the literature are identified and elaborated in some detail. Also noted is the tendency for the non-gendered nature of several aspects of the paternal function to be overlooked because of the regular conflation of the role of the father and the paternal function. Extending this theoretically based observation into the domain of therapeutic practice, the conceptualisations of the pre-oedipal paternal function and the extent to which it is employed as a clinical tool was garnered from a sample of self-identified psychoanalytic psychotherapists based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Interviews of the topic were conducted with eight experienced practitioners and subject to thematic analysis guided by existing theory. The findings articulated closely with the international literature which points to a nebulous understanding of the concept and a general absence of reference to it as relevant in clinical formulations. In addition, based on the interview data, some proposals as to why the paternal function poses such a definitional difficulty and why, furthermore, the paternal functionary is apparently persona non grata in the clinical setting, are discussed. Finally, the case for the usefulness of the pre-oedipal paternal function in clinical practice is elucidated through the discussion of four clinical cases, each addressing a particular aspect of the pre-oedipal paternal function. Based on both a critical review of the literature and empirical data in the form of interviews of psychotherapists, and case material, the thesis makes a cogent case for foregrounding and refining conceptual and applied understandings of the construct of the ‘pre-oedipal’ paternal function, highlighting the gendered and non gendered attributes associated with performance of a set of functions associated with the construct.

Situações triangulares em gêmeos durante o primeiro ano de vida : conjecturas sobre o complexo de Édipo / Triangular situations in twins during the first year of life : conjectures about the Oedipus complex

Tavares, Maria Elizabeth Barreto de Pinho 04 December 2007 (has links)
In the psychological literature, we have found researches performed with twins where the aim was to study the influence of genetic factors versus environmental ones in the structuring of the personality and also in the field of the psychology. However, there are few reports of researches related to the twins\' intra-pair interaction and between the twins and their caretakers, especially in relation to the oedipal issues. The phenomenon, so studied by the psychoanalysis, has been little investigated in the experience of triangular situations between the co-twins and their parents. Esther Bick method of Psychoanalytic Observation model inspired the planning of this thesis, which has as its objectives: to observe and to describe the oppose triangular relationships between the twins and their parents during the first year of life; to analyze the possibility that the oedipal triangulation may happen essentially between the pair of twins; to verify if the \"real presence\" of the co-twin could exacerbate the existence as a \"third excluded\" between the twins. Five pairs of just born twins and their respective families participated in the study; among them we have two male pairs (monozygotic and dizygotic twins), two female pairs (monozygotic and dizygotic twins) and a pair of different sexes. Weekly visits were carried out with an hour duration each, to the twins\' residences, during the first year of life, in order to observe the twins and their caretakers. The observer could witness what happened in the twins\' intra-pair relationship, as well as between the twins and among the other people present. After each observation session a report was elaborated including the observed behaviors and the observer\'s perceptions related to the facts. The following observed phenomena were specially studied in the twins\' families: individual attendance mother-twin; pair attendance mother-twins; dispute of mother\'s holding/attention; father-twins attendance; twins\' intra-pair relationship. The triangular relationships involving the co-twins and their parents were analyzed, having as its subsidy Freud\'s and Klein\'s theories regarding to oedipal relations. It has been noticed four triangular relationship forms besides the triangle son-mother-father oedipal one in the studied families.

Joyce...Beckett...Dedalus...Molloy: A Study in Abjection and Masochism

McCabe-Remmell, Patricia A. 14 April 2006 (has links)
Irish male identity in James Joyce’s and Samuel Beckett’s novels shows evidence of abjection. The oppressive natures of the Church and State in Ireland contribute to abjection in some Irish men. Furthermore, the state of abject being can lead to masochistic practices. According to Julia Kristeva, abjection translates into a .conceptual space. that has its roots in the Freudian Oedipal complex. Kristeva, following Lacan, also points to the connection between abjection and language. Joyce.s character Stephen Dedalus and Beckett.s Molloy/Moran both utilize this conceptual space and language in the narrative provides clues to their abject states. Joyce.s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Ulysses show Stephen.s abjection through his feelings of separation from his fellow citizens as well as his status as an Irish Catholic. Like Stephen, Beckett.s protagonist Molloy/Moran endures abjection in terms of separation from the mother. Nevertheless, abjection by an oppressive social construct such as nationalism or religion is not as evident in Molloy. Although Beckett is an Irish author and Ireland is evident in the novel, Molloy/Moran is a universal character. He is abject by his own design . what Kristeva calls .self abjection. . in order to complete the search for the mother. Molloy/Moran.s search is also a search for the self as he reconciles with approaching death. This is similar to Stephen.s self-abjection but Stephen abjects himself in order to separate himself from his fellow Irishmen. Stephen.s concerns with death take on different ramifications, as Stephen is not at the same point in his life as Molloy/Moran. Death, for Stephen, is his mother.s death and the oppressive guilt she has instilled in him by her admonitions to repent. Masochism is a response to abjection. The age of modernism influenced Joyce.s writing, just as the shift from high modernism to postmodernism influenced Beckett.s. The Irish response to the changes attendant with modernization, both at the fin -de-siécle for Joyce and in the post- World War II years when Beckett wrote, is evident in Stephen Dedalus and Molloy/Moran. According to Suzanne R. Stewart, the turn of the century brought changes in culture through advertising and the advent of consumer capitalism and the bourgeois masculine status quo was threatened. Stewart argues that masochism is partly a masculine response to these changes. I argue that Stephen and Molloy/Moran reflect that response. The result of deferring or suspending either confrontation or resolution is pleasure, or jouissance as the term is used by Jacques Lacan and Julia Kristeva. Neither Joyce nor Beckett makes clear whether Stephen or Molloy/Moran achieve jouissance, effectively leaving the reader suspended, without resolution to the characters. stories. Abjection and masochism link Stephen and Molloy/Moran as symbols of unaccommodated man and are remarkable in that they reflect not only an Irish masculine identity but also a universal masculine identity at both the turn of the century and post- World War II.

The aim was to understand the exercise of parenting and subjectivation in contemporary families regarding to the Oedipus Complex experience, from Linkage Psychoanalysis Theory. Nowadays there has been different changes in contemporary families and considering that the passage through the oedipal scene allows the discrimination of places and family duties, it is understood that is necessary to comprehend this definition and its experiences in modern families. A case study has been carried out by semi – structured interviews with two couples, represented by the grandparents who fulfil the main nurture functions with their granddaughters, and the couple formed by the biological mother and the girls’ stepfather, who also takes part in the family everyday life of the children. With the children who are 6 and 7 years old, the Family Drawing – and – Story Procedure (DF-E) by Walter Trinca was applied, analyzing love relationships, hate, rivalry, interdiction and unconscious alliances typical from this experience. It was found that the exercise of parenting is shared and held by the four interviewees, constituting a new family experience in which the parental roles are not limited in a clear way, however for all family members, the grandmother represents the main figure that acts as a mother and a father to her granddaughters, setting up unconscious alliances and transgenerational aspects which have configured the family dynamics. It was noticed that the parents’ and grandparents’ experiences with their own oedipal elaborations influence in a meaningful way the Oedipus Complex’s experience in the children. It was observed that for an oedipal construction to happen which allows a relationship triangulation and the possibility of an existence and autonomous relationships overcoming the narcissistic and symbiotic first relationships with the parental figures, it’s necessary to be performed a distinctive role not limited to gender or biological paternity, which allows the record of the differences and the inter-subjective relations’ division

Angústia: os descaminhos da liberdade / Angústia: misleadings of freedom

Turina, Sergio Roberto 25 April 2012 (has links)
This dissertation aims at studying the anti-existentialist hero in Angústia, a novel by Graciliano Ramos. In doing so, one analyzes the character´s difficulty of self-affirmation to the world in which he lives, and which will occasionally take him to the central action of the story, that is, the murder of Julião Tavares. As to hide the underlying causes of the apparent affections i.e., feelings of oppression and inferiority , the protagonist will tie them to exterior elements, such as the fact that he lives in town or to the fact that he lives with his enemy, Julião Tavares. The difficulty of self-affirmation is the cause for the underlying apparent affections and has its origins on his childhood, instead of being based on the surpassed oedipal rivalry. It risks bringing up two underlying affections shown up in the story by means of digressions in moments of self analysis done by the character. There are the fear of symbolic castration, end the guilty for wishing for his father´s death when he was a child. This is why he feels the need of hiding them and ties their existence to exterior reasons, to something objective, and this is why he feels inferior and oppressed. Ultimately, there are reasons that will make him wish for revenge and will also constitute the reasons for murder. There is an anachronistic value implied on such revenge, whose origin goes back to the patriarchal society in which the boy Luís da Silva lived: the common naturalized violence as an expression of the archaic sense of freedom an unlimited freedom. In this sense, the anti-existentialist trace of the hero will take him to the free will of murdering as an improper way trying to overcome the feeling of oppression and inferiority, whose consequence will be his own annihilation, a misleading of his freedom.
