Neuropsychologická diagnostika a psychoedukace pacientů s diagnózou psychogenních neepileptických záchvatů (PNES) / Neuropsychological diagnosis and psychoeducation of patients with psychogenic nonepileptic seizuresHrešková, Lucia January 2019 (has links)
Neuropsychological assessment and psychoeducation of patients diagnosed with psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) Mgr. Lucia Hrešková Tutor: Assoc. Prof. Lenka Krámská, Ph.D. Abstract: The term psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) refers to a conversion disorder (300.11) imitating epileptic seizures that are psychological etiology (DSM-5). Neuropsychological assessment including personality profile and mood status is an integral part of the diagnosis and treatment of PNES. The main treatment is psychotherapy. In the theoretical part of this research project, we have processed psychoeducation guide for clinical psychologists and psychotherapists working with patients diagnosed with PNES, based on recommended standards (Myers, 2014; LaFrance & Wincze, 2015; Reiter et al., 2015) and long-term clinical experiences with these patients (in particular Assoc. Prof. Lenka Kramska, Ph.D.). The purpose of our research project was to assess the presence of maladaptive emotional regulation in the profile of patients diagnosed with PNES (N = 51) compared to healthy populations (N = 51), through self-report questionnaires Affective Style Questionnaire (ASQ) and Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS). The results of our research show a significantly higher level of maladaptive emotional regulation in the...

Is Ignorance Bliss? Attributions for Seizures and Consequences of those Attributions among Participants with Psychogenic Non-epileptic SeizuresJanuary 2012 (has links)
abstract: Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES), is a conversion disorder thought to be linked to unresolved emotional distress. While some studies suggest that PNES patients do not attribute their somatic symptoms to severe psychological experiences (Stone, Binzer, & Sharpe, 2004; LaFrance & Barry, 2005), it is unclear what PNES patients do think causes their seizures, and the psychological consequences of those attributions. The aim of the present study was to investigate PNES patients' attributions for their seizures, and to determine how these attributions relate to stress and emotion regulation. It was hypothesized that participants who attribute their seizures to something (i.e., have an explanation for their seizures) will have lower perceived stress and less difficulty with emotion regulation than those who are unsure of the cause of their seizures. Twenty-four PNES participants completed a questionnaire assessing seizure diagnosis, characteristics of seizure impact, perceived stress, psychological symptoms, emotion regulation, attributions for seizures, and coping resources. Contrary to the hypothesis, having an explanation for seizures, rather than being “unsure” of seizure cause, was related to greater perceived stress. While it would seem that attributing unpredictable seizure events to a cause would lower perceived stress and emotion regulation difficulty, this study indicates that an attribution to an unknown cause may be more beneficial for the individual. / This research comprises an investigation and reflection on the National Program for Sustainable Schools (PNES) of the Ministry of Education of Brazil (MEC). It intends to contribute with the problematization of concerning issues related to the implementation of the proposal to promote the public Brazilian schools onto sustainable educational territories. The conducted studies reveal contexts, potential, problems and challenges facing the implementation of actions and management in view of the Ministry´s PNES executives and the partner universities professionals. The specific objectives were: the understanding of the meanings attributed to sustainable school in the official documents as well as in the testimonies of the ministry of education managers and partners on the same matter; identify the main problems and challenges faced during the implementation of the PNES and, ultimately, research the education process for teachers, students and the educational community from the perspective of sustainable schools. As theoretical lenses for approaching the theme, the following concepts were used: Sustainability, Environmental Education, Ecopedagogical Practices, Permaculture and Topophilia. The methodological qualitative processes were constituted by documentary research and semi-structured interviews. The statements show discontinuity and fragile institutionalization of Environmental Education, associated with the vulnerability of its tools of implementation, such as Direct Money at School Program (PDDE), as problems and challenges. Finally, it was found that this public policy proposal, of significant value to the schools that have welcomed the proposal and mobilized their communities, is currently at risk due to the fact that, at this time of Brazilian history, considering the political correlation of forces, there is currently meaningful power of interference of conservative anti-envirotmentalism and anti-ecologist networks, in addition to those who oppose to public policies that qualify education by including contemporary themes such as environmental education, the gender issues and diversity.

Previous issue date: 2005-03-31 / This thesis seeks the inclusion of teenagers in Catholic cathecism meetings who
present some type of disability and, consequently, the manner which their
participation and communion occur in the life of the community. It also establishes a
parallel to the principles of Education for Everyone in light of Inclusive Education
and the paradigm of Jesus´ pedagogy. A brief allusion is given in regard to questions
pertaining to corporality as relating to constructs and representations of the image of
God felt in the hearts of young people and teenagers whose bodies differ from the
norm established as a standard in reference to corporal normality . The concept of
resilience is treated so as to alert those who deal with handicapped teenagers in
order to fortify them in handling the confrontation of clashes and challenges inherent
to the everyday life of these young adults, thus contributing to overcome stigmas and
prejudices that are also verified here in this research paper without pretending an
exhaustive exposition.
