Konstrukce mnohoúhelníků s využitím didaktické pomůcky / The construction of polygons with the didactic aid

Průšová, Adéla January 2018 (has links)
This thesis deals with construction of polygons with use of a didactic aid a geoboard at primary education. I have done analysis of three series of mathematics books in order to know, if they include possibility of mechanical work during construction of polygons. Based on study of professional literature related to teaching mathematics, mainly geometry at primary education, I have created patterns that can be used altogether with geoboard in mathematics. The patterns had been used in three classes thank to this I could have assess their practical use. Then I have corrected wrong instruction of patterns in order to be clear. Next I described three stages of beginning to work with geoboard that I have personally done and that are written in details in protocol. I have concluded didactic potential work with geoboard and theoretical obstacles while geoboard is using.

This work contains a set of experimental activities in order to prove one of the most beautiful and important theorems in Mathematics: the Pythagorean Theorem. There are known more than 400 proofs, here we chose to use a proof due to Rudolf Wolf, by allowing a playful geometric approach by dissection of plane figures. Initially we present the general concept of similarity and areas of plane figures using properties and areas of equidecomposable polygons. Later, we do a brief historical review of some proofs of Theorem and Pythagoras's life. We also highlight a way to find some Pythagorean triples using the Fibonacci sequence. Finally, it was proposed and developed experimental activities in the classroom with the use of molds EVA, exploring the Pythagorean theorem and some of its applications.

Pokročilé partie planimetrie / Advanced Topics in Plane Geometry

Hajmová, Kateřina January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce a series of knowledge from advanced planimetry, which can be proved using the knowledge of high school geometry. Selected theorems deal with characteristic of squares with a common vertex (Finsler-Hadwiger theorem, Theorem of Four Squares, Bottema's theorem), significant points of plane entities (Gergonne point theorem, Švrček point theorem, Simson's Theorem, Miquel's theorem), Feuerbach's circle and its relation to the Euler's line. In this thesis, there is also mentioned Reim's theorem, Napoleon's theorem, and Thebault's theorem. This thesis contains a lot of illustrations created in the Geogebra Mathematical Software, which are available online in interactive form.

Dynamic hair effects

Aktan, Mikael January 2007 (has links)
Creating three dimensional hair is still one of the hardest elements when creating characters. Problems occur because of the constant changes in the software every few years. A major goal is to create as realistic hair as possible in Autodesk Maya and to supply this detailed information on to other 3D artist. Techniques are researched and reviewed on how different hair systems are created, as well as how dynamic effects react on the moving hair.

Some historic aspects are approached about the appearance of Geometry and the discussion about the Fifth Postulate of Euclides. We will demonstrate known results and important ones like Pitagora's Theorem and the addition of internal angles of a triangle. We will also demonstrate some results considered as true, even if its demonstrations are not well known, like all "triangles are a convex polygon". Lastly, some interesting results of Triangle Geometry are demonstrated that are no broadly disclosed between students and teachers, like Euler's straight, the circumference of the nine points, Ceva's and Menelau's theorems and Stward's relation. It is waited that this work serves as source of research for students and teachers, and that it also motivates them to be constant researching the study of Geometry, branch is Mathematics that presents the smallest index of learning into internal and external evaluation of the students.

CALCULATION OF THE EDGE EFFECT OFFSET FOR HIGH EXTRACTION COAL PANELS

Hescock, Joshua 01 January 2017 (has links)
The Surface Deformation Prediction System (SDPS) program has been developed as an engineering tool for the prediction of subsidence deformation indices through the implementation of an influence function. SDPS provides reliable predictions of mining induced surface displacements, strains, and tilt for varying surface topography. One of the key aspects in obtaining reliable ground deformation prediction is the determination of the edge effect offset. The value assigned to the edge effect corresponds to a virtual offsetting of boundary lines delineating the extracted panel to allow for roof cantilevering over the mined out area. The objective of this thesis is to describe the methods implemented in updating the edge effect offset algorithm within SDPS. Using known geometric equations, the newly developed algorithm provides a more robust calculation of the offset boundary line of the extracted panel for simplistic and complex mining geometries. Assuming that an extracted panel is represented by a closed polyline, the new edge offset algorithm calculates a polyline offset into the extracted panel by the user defined edge effect offset distance. Surface deformations are then calculated using this adjusted panel geometry. The MATLAB® program was utilized for development and testing of the new edge effect offset feature.

Optimization of routine to find the correct zone for GPS coordinates

Ternsjö, Simon January 2013 (has links)
In this thesis a logistics program for keeping track of delivery cars was developed. The program was developed for Jetpak, a logistics company and customer of the IT consulting company Softronic where this thesis work was preformed. Jetpak has divided Sweden into areas called ''trafikledningszoner'' (TLZs) which are used to direct the most suitable car for a new delivery. The aim was to improve Jetpaks current system for keeping track of their cars by increasing the speed at which the cars' TLZs are tracked as well as by visualising the TLZs on a map and make them editable. Two programs were developed to perform this task. The look up program uses the crossing method to calculate in what TLZ each car is in using its GPS coordinates. The editing program displays and enables editing of TLZs on a Google map. This work has resulted in the possibility of a greater understanding of the exact layout of the TLZs as well as a possibility to edit them to better suit Jetpaks needs. This is an improvement over the current system because more understanding and more control is given to Jetpak. However, these programs can still be improved to ease the editing process by adding more usable functionality.
