Prado, Rejane Rossi. January 2006 (has links)
Abstract: Because of mobility restrictions, sewing movements can easily cause back or muscular pain, and because of the long period in a seated position, a tension in the lower part of the back may occur. Back pain is a frquent pathology nowadays, representing 70% to 80% of sickness leaving in industrialized countrie. Among the risk factors are the standstill postures, frequent movements of rotation and the upper part of the body bending, and over weight. The present work studies the dressmakers who work in the seating position. The main objective is to verify the dressmakers' quality of life working in the clothing industry; and for the specific objectives: to evaluate the real severity and the level of physical impairment caused by back pain, and to identify the impact caused by back pain in the life quality of this population. In conclusion, it was understood that regarding to the dressmakers' quality of life, the back pain causes larger impact in the parameters of functional capacity, social aspects, overall health, pain and emotional aspects. The paremeters of physical aspects, mental health and vitality didn't represent significant impact in their life quality. It was noted that the impact of the back pain in the dressmakers' quality of life bearing the pathology, when correlated with the parameter of pain, demonstrated larger correlation with the parameters of overall aspects of health and vitality. / Mestre

Le spectacle et le spectaculaire chez les frères Goncourt : représentation de la société et création de soi / Spectacle and spectacular in the Goncourt brothers’ work : representation of society and production of the self

Jotham, Justine 08 December 2015 (has links)
Paris, under the Second Empire, was the world capital of spectacle. This image, as much as it is a myth, also depicts the reality of social relationships that were akin to the rules of drama. This is the milieu Edmond & Jules de Goncourt live in. The spectacle and spectacular of all kinds fascinate them and account for their work, and also their place as writers in society. These two words tell us about their inspiration and style, which are infused by drama and painting, as well as their artistic position among literary sociability, artists, bohemians, and the press of the middle of the nineteenth Century. In their books, the Goncourt brothers give a representation of this time by revealing the codes of make-believe. Their stylistic aspiration, deemed “écriture artiste”, which goes across the rules and borders of literary genres, claims their position of superiority to show their aristocratic aspirations and their artistic tastes. Their position is that of modern men, thinking about modernity as Balzac and Baudelaire did earlier, but in some ways, their position also seems to be an anti-modern one. Their artistic observation, or oeil-artiste, enriched by painters and playwrights, who they converse with or whom they emulate, is shrewd. Their production is both spectacular and specular. This mirror, which they are presenting society with, is inspired by painting techniques, literary genres and tones, like dramatic pantomime, parody, comedy and satire. It shows kaleodoscopic views of their contemporaries and of their own life, scripted and staged like a work of art.

An Investigation of Finger Motion and Hand Posture during Clarinet Performance

January 2011 (has links)
abstract: Finger motion and hand posture of six professional clarinetists (defined by entrance into or completion of a doctorate of musical arts degree in clarinet performance) were recorded using a pair of CyberGloves® in Arizona State University's Center for Cognitive Ubiquitous Computing Laboratory. Performance tasks included performing a slurred three-octave chromatic scale in sixteenth notes, at sixty quarter-note beats per minute, three times, with a metronome and a short pause between repetitions, and forming three pedagogical hand postures. Following the CyberGloves® tasks, each subject completed a questionnaire about equipment, playing history, practice routines, health practices, and hand usage during computer and sports activities. CyberGlove® data were analyzed to find average hand/finger postures and differences for each pitch across subjects, subject variance in the performance task and differences in ascending and descending postures of the chromatic scale. The data were also analyzed to describe generalized finger posture characteristics based on hand size, whether right hand thumb position affects finger flexion, and whether professional clarinetists use similar finger/hand postures when performing on clarinet, holding a tennis ball, allowing hands to hang freely by the sides, or form a "C" shape. The findings of this study suggest an individual approach based on hand size is necessary for teaching clarinet hand posture. / Dissertation/Thesis / D.M.A. Music 2011

Correlação dos parâmetros do equilíbrio sagital da coluna e pelve (sistema Keops) com as variáveis posturais da biofotogrametria (sistema SAPO) em adultos jovens / Keops Correlation of the parameters of the sagittal balance of the spine and pelvis (Keops system) with postural variables of biophotogrammetry (SAPO system) in young adults

Marília Simões Lopes Quintana 19 June 2018 (has links)
Não houve correlação entre os parâmetros avaliados pelo programa / Bipedal stance raises the center of mass, reduces the support area, and demands action of the postural control system, which maintains balance and orientation of body segments. Postural alterations may affect the control system, causing pain and motor dysfunctions. Postural assessment is fundamental for therapy recommendation, and some parameters related to the sagittal balance of the lumbar spine and pelvis, like the pelvic incidence angle (PI), have been studied in alterations of the spine. The goal of this study is to assess and look for correlations between postural measurements, with photographs marked in anatomical points, through the Postural Assessment Program (SAPO), and radiographic assessment of the spine to analyze the pelvic incidence angle (PI), using of the computer software Keops. Casuistry and methods: eighty-one healthy individuals of both sexes, aged between twenty and thirty-five were evaluated. Results: in the Keops assessment, 17.5 % of the sample had high pelvic incidence angles ( > 60o), 31.5 % had low pelvic incidence angles ( < 45o), and 51.2 % had medium pelvic incidence angles (between 46o and 59o). SAPO showed 12,5% of lordosis , 40% of retroversion and 47,5% normal curvature. In the right lateral view, the pelvic incidence angle had a moderate and positive correlation with the vertical alignment of the trunk and with the vertical alignment of the body and negative and moderate with the horizontal alignment of the pelvis. In the left lateral view the pelvic incidence angle had a weak and negative correlation with the horizontal alignment of the pelvis. There was no correlation between the parameters evaluated by the Keops program
