The research consisted of a bibliographic study through which a number of his poems were selected and analised. On observing his process of creating verses, memory, voice, language, and subject, we came to the following findings: his poetic work is all marked by orality. His poems were created and kept in his mind as if they were created to be told in a public solemnity. His poems were only put on paper after some time. It is worth stating that this trace of orality is perceived not only when their poems were told in public, but also when they were put in written form. This feature of orality through the writing is responsible for a kind of dynamics, which gives a really meaningful value to the combination and harmony of the verses. It is observed that the writing does not interfere with the origin of the poet’s work. The writing function is to register and disseminate it. The poet’s ability of producing orality is also clearly observed through origin, elaboration, and memorization of his verses. The country is the place where he produces his verses. Therefore, we can realize how the social dimension, beauty, language and the relations between nature and culture are strong in his poetry. This means that the country provides him with a kind of poetry which aims at showing the unfair conditions of living of those who live there. To sum up, his poetry is universal for its quality; and constitutes a strong voice that vibrates representing the country. / Este trabalho tem como objetivo investigar o processo criativo do poeta Antonio Gonçalves da Silva, conhecido por Patativa do Assaré. Observando sua forma de criar os versos, a memória, a voz, a linguagem, a temática, verificamos que sua trajetória poética está marcada pela oralidade até mesmo quando sua obra chega a livro. Uma oralidade que convive com a escritura, sem que uma aniquile a outra, mas atuando com dinamicidade e atribuindo valor significativo na conjugação dos versos. É no contexto oral que Patativa se insere, sua poesia é feita para ser dita, portanto, a voz se mantém ouvida, vigorosa e produtiva. O suporte da escrita não interfere na gênese da obra, servindo como meio de garantir permanência e maior difusão. Analisamos a presença da oralidade nas fontes, na elaboração, na memória dos versos, como elemento constitutivo de sua produção poética. O lugar do fazer poético de Patativa é o sertão, onde podemos observar a relação natureza e cultura, a dimensão social, a beleza e a linguagem. É um sertão de poesia, que tem a intenção de mostrar em que condições vive o homem sertanejo. Percebemos que é esse o sentido maior da poesia de Patativa, uma poesia feita para todos, uma voz que vibra em nome do outro, numa linguagem que caracteriza o sertão.

A abordagem tem como ponto de partida a oralidade, tendo em vista que a poesia em questão é essencialmente oral. Em seguida, faz-se um perfil do poeta destacando aspectos considerados relevantes em sua trajetória. Segue-se a apresentação de suas principais obras, antes "armazenadas"na mente e no coração do vate, agora convergindo para a letra no papel, bem como para outras mediações, por exemplo, na música, no cinema, no teatro, na internet. Finalmente, discorre-se sobre os aspectos do sagrado, considerando o corpus de poemas escolhido. Publicado em 1956, esse livro representa um momento importante na trajetória poética de Patativa do Assaré. A questão que permeia toda a dissertação é como o poeta transita entre as formas de uma tradição popular, com um repertório composto por cordéis, desafios e pelejas, e uma tradição poética composta por formas pouco utilizadas pelos "poetas populares", como décimas, sonetos, oitavas. É utilizando essa diversidade de recursos poéticos e a possibilidade de se expressar em duas "línguas" ("matuta" e outra de acordo com a norma padrão) que o poeta redimensiona panorama da poesia brasileira dos séculos XX e XXI / Abstract: This study investigates the language and poetic creation in Inspiração Nordestina. Published in 1956, this book represents an important moment in the history of poetic Patativa do Assaré. The question that permeates the entire thesis is how the poet moves between forms of a popular tradition, with a repertoire consisting of "cordéis", "desafios" and "pelejas", and a tradition of poems composed by some forms used by the "folk poets" as decimals, sonnets , octaves.
