Compromiso paterno percibido y bienestar en madres primerizasReaño Avendaño, Daniela 29 January 2019 (has links)
The current study has the main objective of analyzing the relationship between the perception
of new mothers about their father's involvement and their current well-being. In order to
achieve this, the Parental Involvement Scale created by Domecq (2010) and the Peruvian
adaptation of the Flourishing Scale and the Scale of Positive and Negative Experience
(SPANE) (Cassaretto & Martínez, 2017) were applied to 27 mothers. Maternal age ranged
from 25 to 35 years of age (M = 31.59, SD = 2.91), with children between 0 and 6 months (M =
5.13, SD = 1.54), and attending two pre and post-natal centers in Miraflores district. The results
showed a significant correlation between the area of CP-evocations and flourishing. In
addition, a correlation was found between the age of the infant and the dimension of CPinteractions.
Finally, a significant difference in maternal positive affect was found regarding
the sex of the infant.

Father involvement of children with cancer with ages between 3 and 5 years old
This research aims to describe the characteristics of father involvement in children with cancer and to compare levels of father involvement between this first group and a group of fathers with healthy children. The first group of parents was between 25 and 50 years old (M = 35.17, SD = 6.80), and their children were 13 boys and 17 girls with cancer who were receiving outpatient treatment. And the second group of parents, were between 22 and 46 years old (M = 35.7, SD = 6.39) and have 18 girls and 12 boys who study in an Initial Education Center in Lima. We evaluated those groups of fathers with the Father Involvement Questionnaire and with the Incomplete Phrases by Domecq (2010). The results indicate that fathers with a child with cancer have a higher level of father involvement than the group of fathers who have a healthy child, so the condition of a disease would improve father skills for responding to children´s demands.

The main aim of this research is to explore the relationship between attachment representation
and the level of reminiscing in father of high socioeconomic level with sons and daughter of
preschooler years. We worked with 15 dyads, the average age of the fathers was 40.27 and of
the sons 4.45. To obtain a score of the attachment representations we worked with the Adult
Script Assesment of Waters and Rodrigues (1998), and for the reminiscing levels we used a
coding system based on Farrant and Reese (2000). From this, no significant relationship was
found between the attachment representations and the reminiscing levels. As a specific
objective, it was found that the amount of emotions used by the parents in the reminiscing’s do
not differ according to the sex of the child. In addition, it was found that the inclusion of
emotions is not associated with the level of elaboration of the remembrance. Finally, there was
no difference in the way parents remember with their children, either men or women. It should
be noted that this research corresponds to a first approach to describe the way parents remember
with their children.

The experience of living with a teenage son or daughter who presents depressive
symptoms and has tried to commit suicide, brings with it a particular emotional experience.
The present study aims to explore this emotional experience in a group of five parents taking
into account their subjectivity. To do this, from a phenomenological qualitative approach,
semi-structured interviews and the application of a test of incomplete sentences were carried
out to parents whose adolescent children received ambulatory care after a first suicide attempt
in an psychiatric hospital in Lima. The results show that participants experience various
emotions that revolve around anger, impotence, sadness, guilt and relief around three stages:
the onset of symptoms, attendance at a psychiatric hospital and the perception of remission
of the symptoms. It is evident that although at the beginning the parents find it difficult to get
involved affectively with their younger children, they are able to resume their bond after a
reorganization of their role.

The present study described the relationship between father involvement and the
commitment and satisfaction in a romantic relationship in a sample of 40 fathers with
ages between 30 and 45 years old (M=39, SD= 3.27) who have kids with ages between 1
and 4 years. The Father Involvement Questionnaire (Domecq, 2010) and the Investment
Model Scale (Rusbult, 1998) were used for this purpose. Three significant correlations
were found between the areas of both scales. Also, it was found that the father
involvement is related to the father´s level of instruction, his age, the number of kids he
has and the amount of time spent at work. Moreover, a relationship between the
commitment with the partner and the age was found. The sample presented significant
differences between the father´s self-perceived score on the Father Involvement
Questionnaire and the one the mothers assigned to their partners.

The general objective of this study is describe the relationship between father
involvement and coparenting, as well as the relationship between father involvement and
maternal gatekeeping in families of preschool children from the province of Tarma. In
addition, the specific objectives of this study are describe the differences in father
involvement, coparenting and gatekeeping according to the sociodemographic
characteristics of the group. For this purpose, 128 resident parents aged between 23 and
54 years (M = 34.13, SD = 6.99) of children between 35 and 72 months of age were
evaluated (M = 54.11, SD = 10.35) using the Parental Involvement Scale: Care and
Socialization Activities to measure father involvement, the Coparenting Questionnaire
(CQ) to evaluate coparenting and the Parental Regulation Inventory (PRI) for maternal
gatekeeping. Significant differences were found in different areas of father involvement
except in the play area according to the paid work of the mother, work time of the father,
age of the father and educational level of the father. Regarding the general objectives, a
direct correlation was found between the area of teaching and discipline of father
involvement and the total coparental score of the mother. Likewise, an inverse correlation
was found between this same area, teaching and discipline, and the gatekeeping area of
criticism, which suggest that the involvement of the father in the teaching and discipline
of the child would be susceptible to the support or criticism of his partner in relation with
his performance in this area.

This research aims to explore the relationship between parent’s attachment representations and that of their preschool children in families from the top socioeconomic level. In order to achieve this purpose, 20 children between the ages of 3 to 5 and 20 parents between the ages of 27 and 51, who were living together, were evaluated using narrative techniques. To obtain the children’s secure-base script, the translated version of Bretherton, Ridgeway and Cassidy’s (1990) Attachment Story Completion Task was used, whereas, in order to evaluate the parent’s attachment representations, Waters and Rodrigues-Doolabh (1998) instrument “Narrativas de apego adulto”, was used. The results show a significant relation between the children´s attachment representations and those of their mothers. Specifically it was found that the mothers´ attachment representations were related to the child´s secure-base script in situations concerning limits and discipline. A significant relation between the children´s attachment representations and those of the fathers´ was not found. On the other hand, no association was found between the socio-demographic variables and the attachment representations of the children and mothers. In the case of the fathers, significant differences in their representations were found if both parents were considered principal caretakers or only the mother.

Compromiso paterno y regulación emocional en niños preescolaresCastillo Quiroz, Norelly Fiorella 26 February 2021 (has links)
The general objective of this study is to explore the relationship between paternal commitment
and emotional regulation in preschool children as reported by their fathers. Participants were 72
fathers between 21 and 53 years of age (M=33.04, SD=7.57). The instruments used were the
Parental Involvement Scale (CP) in its Spanish version adapted in Peru by Domecq (2010) and
the Emotion Regulation Checklist (ERC, Shields & Cicchetti, 1997) in its Spanish version
translated by Servera, Garcia-Delgar and Cicchetti (2016). A positive and medium correlation
was found between paternal commitment and emotional regulation. Also, an inverse and small
association was found between parental commitment and the lability / negativity dimension; and
a direct and medium one between parental commitment and the emotional regulation dimension.
Similarly, significant differences were found in parental commitment according to type of
caregiving. However, no significant differences or associations were found in paternal
commitment and emotional regulation according to the other sociodemographic variables.
Finally, the results are discussed according to the theories and studies reviewed.

2 =
.45, p< .05). / Pediatric cancer is a challenge for many families, especially for parents, who face different
demands throughout the disease. This research aimed to analyze the possible relationships of
caregiver burden with coping and social support in 82 parents of children with cancer whose ages
ranged between 21 and 61 years (M= 32.73; DE= 8.76). Zarit Burden Interview (Zarit et al., 1980),
the COPE Inventory (Carver et al., 1989) and the MOS Social Support Questionnaire (Sherbourne
y Stewart, 1991) were used for the measurement. The results show variations in caregiver burden,
coping strategies and social support according to sociodemographic characteristics. Likewise,
according to the general objective, there is a relationship of caregiver burden with certain coping
strategies and with global social support and its different types. Regression analyzes were
performed finding the predictive role of coping strategies of acceptance, positive reinterpretation
and focus and release emotions, social support and sociodemographic characteristics such as the
level of instruction and the age of the child in the caregiver's burden (R
2 = .43, p <.05). In the
second model, whose difference was the consideration of social support by areas, the predictive
role of affective support and the aforementioned variables was evidenced (R
2 = .45, p <.05)
