Définition d’une expression temporelle de la performance des entreprises manufacturières / Definition of a temporal expression of the performance of manufacturing companies

Hamadmad, Hakam 17 January 2017 (has links)
Fifty years ago, the expression of industrial performance was Taylorian, mono criterion, and attached to the financial results of the company. Today, the performance has adopted both multi criteria and multilevel dimensions. More generally, such a performance is usually related to the achievement of overall objectives and is dedicated to control purposes, post Taylorian performances are thus expressed on the basis of comparisons between the fixed objectives and the corresponding measures. However, this performance is often statically expressed, generally at the final moment of the temporal horizon which is associated with the objective achievement. In this thesis, we propose a definition of the “temporal” performance, according to three performances: the instantaneous performance, the trend performance and the predictive performance. The fundamental assumption in our work consists of considering an objective as being a trajectory of what we call intermediate objectives, throughout a given temporal horizon. Instantaneous performance is expressed by the objective achievement at a given milestone of the temporal horizon. Such a performance relies on the comparison of the objective and the measurement of its achievement. Trend performance is the result of the comparison of the trend objective with the trend measurement. This performance provides information concerning the objective achievement. Predictive performance is defined at a given milestone of the temporal horizon, for a future milestone of this horizon. It is the result of the comparison of the intermediate objective of the considered future milestone with an estimation of measurement at this same future milestone. Moreover, a methodology for using these performances is proposed, based on a principle of aggregation, "in pairs", of the three temporal performances, which allows us to provide a single synthetic piece of information that is, to some extent, the performance of the objective trajectory. As a continuation of this definition step, we propose a qualitative formalization of these performances, based on the fuzzy subsets theory. Rules-based aggregations and linguistic descriptions are used in this. Finally, we illustrate these propositions with examples that are extracted from the OEE improvement project of the Fournier Company.

Predicting performance in sport using a portable cognitive assessment device

Thank you. / Cognitive processing abilities play a vital role in sport performance, and in order to perform at the highest possible level, athletes must be at optimal states of cognitive readiness to compete at the outset of competition. Therefore, athletes may benefit from using a valid and reliable assessment tool that could identify generalized cognitive deficits prior to sport competitions that may be present due to psychological or external stressors. Corrective action could then be taken to counter deficits if they are detected. The quantitative portion of the present study used a single-participant design to assess the predictive ability of a portable cognitive assessment device known as the MiniCog (Shephard & Kosslyn, 2003) on various aspects of performance in sport. Seven participants competing and/or training in five sports were used to determine if performance on the MiniCog test battery would correlate with performance in sport. The primary hypothesis was that sport performance would improve as performance on the MiniCog test battery improved. No consistent trends of support were found in the data, as the seven participants produced correlations of various strength and direction between the MiniCog Rapid Assessment Battery (MRAB) and sport performance. The MiniCog device did not appear to be an accurate predictor of sport performance for the participants in this project, but due to some trends that were seen in the data, the possibility that it could be useful under different conditions or with additional participants cannot be discounted at this time. The qualitative exploration revealed that the five participants who used the MiniCog device prior to athletic events throughout their competitive season suggested that use of the MiniCog appeared to affect their focus, confidence, and anxiety levels in both facilitative and debilitative ways. Also, excessive external distractions, time constraints, and focus on the pending athletic event limited the participants' capacity to implement the MiniCog device into their precompetitive routines successfully. The results from this portion of the project yielded useful recommendations for athletes and their coaches or sport psychologists concerning the feasibility of utilizing a portable assessment device in applied settings. / 2031-01-02

The impact of performance management on employee morale in Western Cape Provincial head office of Department of local government & housing

Aifheli, Ratshili January 2012 (has links)
A mini thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of the Degree of Master of Technology In Human Resources Management at the Faculty of Business of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology 2012 / Local Government in South Africa has undergone much transformation since 5 December 2000. Much of this change has been implemented to correct the imbalances, inequities and disparities within our local communities as a result of Apartheid policies. However, motivation for this change is also because National Government has realized that like other governments throughout the world, there is a need to continuously modernise all spheres of government. In establishing the background, readers will be exposed to the implicit objectives contained in the new local government legislation and specifically, the legislation relevant to performance management. The development of a performance management system at local government level in South Africa is a highly structured process which is determined by various sets of legislation. To develop a comprehensive understanding of the impact that the municipal has on the implementation of a performance management system, a review of the legislation is therefore imperative. In South Africa, the government's response since 1994 (Calitz and Siebrits, 2002) has been to realign its economic policies in terms of Growth Employment and Redistribution (GEAR). This has required that government becomes more efficient in the delivery and production of its services. Further, the focus has been on technical efficiency with emphasis on better or improved government services without an increase in taxes. Calitz and Siebrits (2002) con~luded that the South African government's focus at a national level has definitely shifted from its regulatory role to that of a facilitator of growth. The overall aims of performance management is to establish a high-performance culture in which individuals and teams takes responsibility for the continuous improvement of business processes and their own skills and contributions within a framework provided by effective leadership. Specifically, performance management is about aligning individual objectives to organizational objectives and ensuring that individuals uphold corporate core values. It provides for expectations to be defined and agreed in terms of role responsibilities and accountabilities (expected to do), skills (expected to have) and behaviours (expected to be). Its aim is to develop the capacity of people to meet and exceed expectations and to achieve their full potential to themselves and the\ organisation.

The use of mental imagery and mental rehearsal techniques for optimal performance in string players

Du Toit, Ane January 2016 (has links)
Mental imagery and mental rehearsal in music can be described as the imaginary rehearsal of physical activity with the focus on the senses (visual, aural and kinesthetic), aiming to recreate an experience that is similar to a physical event (Ginsborg 2004:224). The main aim of this study is to investigate whether mental imagery and mental rehearsal techniques can be effective as an aid to overcome possible setbacks experienced by string players during a performance. Three string players, with varying degrees of performance experience, participted in the study. Data was collected through three semi-structure interviews during pre-intervention and intervention stages of the study. The study uses a qualitative research approach and falls into the interpretive paradigm. It makes use of hybrid research design in order to fully investigate this phenomenon. A multiple case study design is utilised, with elements of action research. The action research component involved the intervention of mental imagery and mental rehearsal techniques based on existing mental imagery and mental rehearsal techniques. The analysis of the data provided insightful information as to which mental imagery and mental rehearsal techniques were helpful in overcoming setbacks experienced by string players. The study found that the intervention of mental imagery and mental rehearsal techniques are effective in addressing setbacks (insufficient practice time, difficulty performing from memory and poor concentration ability) experienced by string players. However, according to the research findings, the techniques are not a substitute for physical practice. The study found that the application of the techniques is most beneficial when it is applied in combination with physical practice in order to reach optimal performance and the outcome of the intervention of mental imagery and rehearsal techniques was largely postive for all the participants.
