Některé aspekty renormalizace kalibračních teorií se spontánním narušením symetrie / Aspects of renormalization of spontaneously broken gauge theories

Hudec, Matěj January 2016 (has links)
In this thesis, we use the Coleman-Weinberg effective potential for computing the radiative corrections to scalar masses in six simple models of the quantum field theory. We probe, for example, the theory of two scalar fields, simple generalizations of the Abelian Higgs model or some classic extensions of the Standard Model. A common feature of all the theories considered is the existence of (at least) two mass scales different in order of magnitude. Being motivated by the hierarchy problem, we study mainly the sensitivity of light scalar masses on the radiative corrections induced by the heavy fields in relevant Feynman loops. We demonstrate that while the masses of scalars with zero VEV obtain corrections proportional to the masses of the heavy fields, in theories with the spontaneous symmetry breakdown is the Higgs mass always governed by the corresponding ordering parameter, i.e., by its vacuum expectation value. For the Standard Model, understood as an effective field theory, this implies that the Higgs boson mass is as stable with respect to the effects of possible new physics on very high energies as the masses of the leptons, quarks, W and Z bosons. Polarizace ekonomického růstu v Evropské unii / Polarization of Economic Growth in the European Union

Martincová, Eva January 2008 (has links)
The theme of diploma thesis "Polarization of Economic Growth in the European Union" belongs to fundamental issues of recent regionalistics. The main aim is to demark poles of economic growth and periphery areas within the EU territory. This aim is followed by hypothesis that "at recent economic circumstances, economic activities are concentrated in the central part of the EU". First part of the thesis focuses on theoretic approaches, including economic growth poles definition, finding general factors of economic attractiveness of the region, their evolution and yet known findings about concentration of economic growth in the EU in economic, social and environmental dimension. In the following practical part, the main economic, social and environmental indicators are established. Using these indicators, areas that feature strong polarization of economic growth and in opposite, areas that can be marked as periphery, are defined within the EU.

Disková pole RAID a jejich budoucnost v éře SSD / Future of disk arrays in SSD era

Sládek, Petr January 2012 (has links)
The thesis aims at verification of using emerging Solid-State drives in disk arrays. The advent of SSD disks caused a small revolution in area of data storage, because the growth performance of hard drives has been slow compared to other PC components. But an entirely different principle of operation could mean compatibility problems between SSD and related technologies, such as RAID. This thesis aims at analyzing all the relevant technologies, mainly HDD, SSD and RAID. To achieve this objective, information from literature, articles and other appropriate sources will be used. Other objectives of this thesis are to determine how much are the SSDs suitable for use in the disk array, because low performance RAID controllers or different principles of operation could limit their efficiency. This question should be answered by submission of selected types of storage arrays to synthetic and practical tests of performance. The final goal is to use financial analysis of the test solutions as a shared file storage. Today, remote access to data is used by a wide range of job positions. Slow storage could mean inefficient use of working time and therefore unnecessary financial costs. The goal of my work is primarily to provide answers to the questions mentioned above. Currently it is very hard to find tests of more complex forms of disk arrays based on solid-state drives. This article can be also very useful for companies where fileservers are used to share user data. Based on the result of cost analysis, the company can then decide what type of storage is best for its purpose.

The Contribution of Higher Education to Regional Socioeconomic Development : The University of Buea, Cameroon, as a Growth Pole

Fongwa, Neba Samuel January 2010 (has links)
Magister Educationis - MEd / This research investigates how higher education institutions contribute to regional development, using the University of Buea in the Fako region as a case study. Policy documents reviewed and interviews with major stakeholders in the region, present a significant 'delink' or disjuncture between university policy and regional development efforts. This, from the policy perspective, has been strongly attributed to the national rather than to the regional mandate around which the university was established. However, data from the economic and social indicators investigated, reveal that the University of Buea by its very presence has been a significant agent in the development of the municipality. / South Africa

Fractional Order and Inverse Problem Solutions for Plate Temperature Control

Jarrah, Bilal 27 May 2020 (has links)
Surface temperature control of a thin plate is investigated. Temperature is controlled on one side of the plate using the other side temperature measurements. This is a decades-old problem, reactivated more recently by the awareness that this is a fractional-order problem that justifies the investigation of the use of fractional order calculus. The approach is based on a transfer function obtained from the one-dimensional heat conduction equation solution that results in a fractional-order s-domain representation. Both the inverse problem approach and the fractional controller approach are studied here to control the surface temperature, the first one using inverse problem plus a Proportional only controller, and the second one using only the fractional controller. The direct problem defined as the ratio of the output to the input, while the inverse problem defined as the ratio of the input to the output. Both transfer functions are obtained, and the resulting fractional-order transfer functions were approximated using Taylor expansion and Zero-Pole expansion. The finite number of terms transfer functions were used to form an open-loop control scheme and a closed-loop control scheme. Simulation studies were done for both control schemes and experiments were carried out for closed-loop control schemes. For the fractional controller approach, the fractional controller was designed and used in a closed-loop scheme. Simulations were done for fractional-order-integral, fractional-order-derivative and fractional-integral-derivative controller designs. The experimental study focussed on the fractional-order-integral-derivative controller design. The Fractional-order controller results are compared to integer-order controller’s results. The advantages of using fractional order controllers were evaluated. Both Zero-Pole and Taylor expansions are used to approximate the plant transfer functions and both expansions results are compared. The results show that the use of fractional order controller performs better, in particular concerning the overshoot.

Řízený zdroj vysokého napětí / Controlled high voltage source

Chloupek, Jiří January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this master thesis is to design a high voltage source for the generation of bipolar pulses, which are suitable for the process of reversible and irreversible electroporation. Further design is electronic control. The first part of the thesis analyzes the theoretical knowledge about the process of electroporation, the second part describes the principles of realization of such sources, the next part deals with the design of the source and its control. The penultimate part is a description of the user manual and the last part is dedicated to the measurement.

Sledování pohybu materiálu v průběhu výroby / Material position tracking in production hall

Sládeček, Michal January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis describes implementation of an indoor positioning system for tracking the location and movement of material and products through the manufacturing plant. The system is designed with regards to simple installation and low overall implementation costs. It utilizes method of Wi-Fi and magnetic field fingerprinting. The system employs a client hardware (active tag with Wi-Fi module and sensors designed for this project) communicating with a server software which does the mapping and fingerprinting processing. Finall positioning system is prepared to collect locations data for further analysis aiming to improve efficiency of manufacturing processes.

Vzájemná interakce magnetického pole a kavitujícího proudění / Mutual interaction of magnetic field and cavitating flow

Harazin, Přemysl January 2018 (has links)
Presented work consists of research and experimental part. Main focus of the research part is on mutual interaction between magnetic field and water and between magnetic field and cavitating flow. Prediction of the result is almost impossible, because the opinions on the effects differ, sometimes even go against each other. Experimental part consisted of three trials with permanent magnets. Electromagnetic probe was employed for measuring of the voltage. It appears, that magnetic field affects the cavitation, because in all of the trials the measured voltage changed after the switch from non-cavitating to cavitating flow. The change of the voltage was not great enough, thus application of this phenomenon in practice cannot be recommended.
