Miranda, Rafael Tadeu 14 December 2018 (has links)
This paper is a study of scenic processes which came about from projects of pop culture that took place between 2016 and 2017 in the city of São Paulo, in which the researcher was a participant. The intention was to think pedagogically about the use of comics, video clips and pop songs as materials for scenic creation with young people and adolescents. The development and observation of these processes, together with the research of theorists who dealt with the themes of pop culture and cultural industry (such as Teixeira Coelho, Douglas Kellner, Umberto Eco, among others) brought to the fore reflections on the concept of pop, current issues - especially those concerning social movements - and their presence within a young audience. These reflections in this paper will be referred to as \"dialogues\", in which the search for a relationship with pop culture does not pass through a pejorative or Manichean point of view. The trajectory brought as fruits, among new reflections, the creation of two plays: - Tebaida (2017), a transposition of the language of comics to the scene, coming from a process with my guidance, wich took place in Programa Vocacional of the City of São Paulo; - PLAYLIST 43:04 (2018), a contemporary dance choreography, winner of the 22nd. The reason of research due to the fact that in our society there is a initiate prejudice against blonde women. Therefore, our general objective is prove that this prejudice is minimized in the mass pop music, since the predominance be of a positive ethnos. The work s evolution, is based in the notion of Aristóteles rhetoric and in basic precepts about the rhetoric recourse cited especially in Perelman e Tyteca, Reboul, Tringali and Meyer. Starting from biblical and mythological figures of Lilith, Eva and Aphrodite is done a comparison with the ethos of eternalized women by the history and by the modern women cited in the songs. The realized research, in the twenty-five samples, allows the identification of the several ways as the blonde woman can be seen in the Brazilian pop music: fatal, stupid, delicate, charm, grifter and desirable. Having as base the ethos above formed in the studied songs, we reach a conclusion, according the sample s numbers, that the blonde woman is dear for the men and awakes the desire, a passion that can be contained in the love, that so did the mithological figure of Aphrodite that charmed casting just the glance / Este trabalho situa-se na linha de pesquisa Texto e Discurso nas Modalidades Oral e Escrita e apresenta como tema o feminino na música popular brasileira.

2000-2010 / Hearing chinoiserie -- the discourse analysis of Chinese pop music during 2000-2010

Chung, Yung Unknown Date (has links)
In 2000, the intersection of two centuries, the globalization has been pacing merrily; “China Fever” was burning in the fashion circle; the film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” surprised the Western world; the industrial productive methods of pop music responded to the globalized cultural transmission, and the appearance of MTV Channel in the 1980s has extended the music from auditory to vision. In Taiwan, pop music has been played for decades; the freedom in inventiveness and the aroused cultural standards after the martial law being lifted in 1987 enhanced strong vitality in creations, and Taiwan has become the major distribution center of Chinese pop music. In PRC, the booming economic development after the Chinese economic reform in 1978 has brought up populations’ living standards and consumption, and the enormous market has drawn the worldwide attention. As a new type in Chinese pop music, “Chinoiserie” has emerged since 2000, and the Chinoiserie songs could string together the above narrations that seemed to be weakly related. The essence of pop music is to strive after conformity and consumption from maximum people, and undoubtedly PRC has the market that everyone eagerly fights for. Whereas “China Fever” dominates, the themes related to “China” integrate into Chinese pop music in which Western pop music takes the lead. Moreover, seeing that vision is equally important as auditory, and the image era of pop music becomes popular with music video as the perfect tool for marketing, the song themes related to “China” would absolutely contain elements that can be identified as “Chinoiserie.” Therefore, these songs have created a “Chinese” atmosphere, a “China” in music that is constructed brick by brick through lyrics, melody, arrangement, and aria. However, “China” is a sensitive term that is considered quite differently in PRC, Hong Kong and Taiwan though the civilizing roots are all from “Chinese culture.” Seeking themes and elements for creativity in the intersections of this “Greatest Common Divisor” becomes the operating practice of “China” in music, in which the identical elements of “China” are the samplings and put-together from the “database of ancient Chinese culture.” Thus “China” here is absolutely not a clearly distinguishable object, but a “virtual China” with codes of “Chineseness” that can be obviously recognized; a “China Charm” built in auditory and vision through de-contextualized elements picking and re-contextualized collage constructing; yet a cultural merchandise of mimicry and bricolage with slightly familiar nostalgia. This “China” in music, named as “Chinoiserie,” can be considered as a reverse embezzlement claimed by Chinese. While exchanging ideas and cultures, Chinese entitle the Western style pop music merged with “Chinese taste” to be “Chinoiserie,” and thus turn the term from the Western point of view to the Eastern one. In the context of globalization, “Chinoiserie” has also become the statement that the Eastern seeks to stand firmly in the tide of globalization and to avoid losing oneself at the same time. In this study, the author broadly collected information related to “Chinoiserie” songs from 2000 to June 2010 in order to describe their developments in the past decade. In addition, the researcher has not only spent two years to collect, analysis, listen to, and observe the past and present of Chinese pop music, but also interviewed 18 key roles in different professions, including Vincent Fang, Hsing-Ming Chung, and Kevin Lin. Even though the “Chinoiserie” songs in the past decade can’t be viewed as the benchmark of the decade in Chinese pop music, at least they have caused “a vogue,” which some people praise, some are not optimistic, some imitate, and some disdain. In any case, “Chinoiserie” has made a statement for the visualized auditory era of pop music, and it would continue playing to deeply impress everyone of the time.

韓國流行音樂進入大中華市場之行銷策略: 以Super Junior在臺灣為例 / The Marketing Strategy of Korean Pop Music Entering Greater China Market: A Case of Super Junior in Taiwan

Unknown Date (has links)
Korean Pop Music (K-Pop) gradually gained popularity around the world and became the most popular foreign pop music genre in Taiwan in 2009, replacing the long dominating Japanese Pop Music. The purpose of this study is to investigate how K-Pop entered the Greater China market by looking at the marketing strategy of Super Junior in Taiwan. The major finding of this dissertation is that all of S.M. and avex taiwan’s efforts were directed to making Super Junior a “local idol” in Taiwan. In other words, they wanted Super Junior to be a Chinese pop music star. These two companies tried to reduce the Korean impressions on Super Junior, and tried to create a new idol group in the Chinese pop music market.

The aim of this paper is to study the ways in which mechanisms of Social Networks Analysis can describe the context of creative production. To this end, the concepts related to structural holes, centrality and power of brokerage are presented. The research hypothesis is that, from the perspective of a structure of relationships, individuals placed in the center of the network are more likely to concentrate elements which are common to the group, being therefore able to build greater creative potential. For this paper, as a case study, the network of "Bossa Nova" composers in the period 1958 to 1964 was created in order to assess the relationship between the centrality of individuals in this group and the appearance of their own songs in a list of representative songs of the period. The results indicate strong statistical evidence of positive correlation, a result which also suggests that social network analytical tools can be also helpful to understand human behavior.

The Saxophone in China: Historical Performance and Development

Pockrus, Jason 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this document is to chronicle and describe the historical developments of saxophone performance in mainland China. Arguing against other published research, this document presents proof of the uninterrupted, large-scale use of the saxophone from its first introduction into Shanghai's nineteenth century amateur musical societies, continuously through to present day. In order to better describe the performance scene for saxophonists in China, each chapter presents historical and political context. Also described in this document is the changing importance of the saxophone in China's musical development and musical culture since its introduction in the nineteenth century. The nature of the saxophone as a symbol of modernity, western ideologies, political duality, progress, and freedom and the effects of those realities in the lives of musicians and audiences in China are briefly discussed in each chapter. These topics are included to contribute to a better, more thorough understanding of the performance history of saxophonists, both native and foreign, in China.

Vzorce užívání návykových látek u aktivních hudebníků v hudebních skupinách na Benešovsku / Patterns of use addictive substances at active musicians in music groups in the Benešovsko

Olišarová, Pavlína January 2021 (has links)
Introduction: Addictive substances among musicians is a common occurrence. However, this phenomenon is mostly described only by the musicians themselves in their autobiographies. There is little professional work to address this phenomenon. There are many factors that affect musicians and lead them to use addictive substances. Even though this phenomenon is so widespread, it is taken for granted and few pay attention to it. Aim: Aim of thesis is to identify and describe patterns of substance use in active musicians in music groups that are based in the Benešov region, but play outside this area too. Methodology Data were collected in the form of a semi-structured interview. A list of music groups was created using the bandzone website. These groups were then found on Facebook to find out their activity. They were also subsequently approached here. 9 researched musicians took part in the research. Responses from the interviews were recorded directly by hand. Overwrite was performed while data was being written. Subsequently, the data were analyzed by elements of grounded theory. Using open coding, the codes were assigned to important topics in the text. These topics were grouped using axial coding. Using these categories, patterns of substance use among active musicians in music groups based in the...

The thesis "Biblical motifs in Czech pop music of the 1960s and the 1970s of the twentieth century: The function and using of biblical motifs for pop music lyrics with the original biblical background and message" introduces the academic framework of the topic within the first chapter: the definition of the terms, the criteria and method for selecting the motifs and lyrics used. Then, the position of Czech pop music in the cultural and political context of the period is explained, which is a relevant part of the topic itself. Also an outline of the academic reflection of the related topic is referred to as well as the function of biblical motifs in other styles of music (rock, folk and underground music) with the emphasis on the projection of the stylistic differences into using these topics for the lyrics. The following four chapters are probes into the pop music and biblical motifs issue. They are meant as the reflection of the the inner dynamics of the genre as well: in the second and third chapters the selected biblical motifs (general motifs, prayers, biblicisms and biblical characters) are enlisted and the anylysis of their funcion and using for various lyrics is provided in comparison with their biblical message and introducing the original loci in the B ible.
