January 2013 (has links)
The fishermen") and As Ilhas Desconhecidas ("The Unknown Islands") to compose the analysis corpus and proposes a reevaluation of the less value given to these works. They obtained the appreciation of the great public for long decades, but a parcel of brandonian critics built in the 20th century labeled them as "minors" for being far from the literary fictional project of Raul Brandão. The dichotomy and the silence dominated since then. The aim of this thesis is to show that these works are not far from the other brandonian productions because they present thematic and stylistics components similar to the rest of the author's works. Therefore, we part from the hypothesis that there is a dialectics between impressionist and expressionist forms combining to compose plastic-literary spaces. Such hypothesis become stronger through questions about the use of traditional aesthetic styles as, for example, the landscape description and the travel literature on the two selected titles, published in the second decade of the 20th century. The reflections focus around the brandonian writing incursions by distinct artistic languages, trough a modern perspective on the landscape, the men and the fabulation. However, the accurate study of this perspective enlarges the comprehension of the fishermen, sailors, shepherds and peasants figure construction, besides the registration of the poetics and pictorial impressions of the Portuguese coast and Azores and Madeira. Thereby the approach between the works happens through the innovation in the landscape and travel perspective, the setting of poor and subdued characters by reflections of ontological and sociological nature, according with peculiar designs of spatial configurations / Doutor

Livro em deriva, percursos do EU no drama-poesia de Maria Gabriela Llansol / Book on drives, routes of the \"I\" in the drama-poetry of Maria Gabriela Llansol

Erica Zingano 13 April 2011 (has links)
(2000), by the portuguese Maria Gabriela Llansol (1931-2008), in order to traverse it, dividing it into sections to articulate reading guidelines or pathways, which follow some of the various lines-layers that compose the book. These lines, drifts understood as detours, intersect the I from different perspectives: from autobiography to theatrical playing, taking into account the questions of the authorship and alterity, to the fragment. Wanderings, wich always regard textuality as the ground zero.

O lugar do ser: espaço e lirismo em Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen / Place of the being: space and lyrism in Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen

Alexandre Bonafim Felizardo 12 April 2012 (has links)
For the Portuguese poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, the existential space of the man became a center generating the deed, a foundation forpoetic creation. The spaciousness created by language serves as a catalyst, the basis upon which the poet explains a fertile diving in the world, where beings and things are picked up by a lyrical glimpse of ecstasy and passion. Indeed, the real, in his epiphanic appearance, gains an aura of enchantment, in which the lyric voice in the world fits together, forming a truly seamless fabric. Thus, this intense relationship with the spaces, there arises a keen awareness of human limitations and of our historical condition. In a world in ruins, the poet will undertake a song of resistance, denouncing, especially in cities reified, the increasing dehumanization of man. Bothspatiality is fundamental to the work of Sophia, we can say that your writing is a\"topoiesis\" or \"topoética.\" Thus, for the Portuguese writer, man\'s being reflected, lyrically, by being in the world.

A personagem e o tempo / The Character and the time

The purpose of this dissertation is to do a study about the physical and psychological times which compose the temporality in the work Nítido nulo by Vergílio Ferreira and to verify how it is possible to reproduce in the character the experience of the human being with the time. The time is approached under two aspects, the physical time, marked by the clocks and cycles of the nature and the psychological time, measured for each person\'s individual experience. Such choice is due to the alive and concrete perception of the simultaneous existence of the two times and their effects and reflexes inside the individual. According to the presupposition that in the present moments there is the concomitant presence of a recent past and a close future that appear simultaneously to the present perceptions, we analyze moments in which there is the simultaneity of the temporary plans in question. Those moments of intersection of different temporary plans are analyzed mainly based in José Luiz Fiorin\'s, Henri Bergson\'s and A.A. Mendilow\'s theories and interpreted by Martin Heidegger\'s and Jean-Paul Sartre\'s existentialist conceptions contained in the reflections done by the character along the work. Through the intersectional moments of the text and the character\'s reflections that, sentenced to death, waits the moment of his execution, it is possible to verify the conflict of the being that is known unjustifiable finite in the time.

A representação do oriente na obra poética de Alberto Osório de Castro / Representation of the Orient in the poetic works of Alberto Osório de Castro

Goldstein, Angela Raposo de Medeiros 28 February 2013 (has links)
The present work aims to investigate how the Orient is represented in the poetic works of Alberto Osório de Castro (1868 1946). Its main axis is the dialog established between his poems and the topics and poetic forms found in the eastern tradition, especially in the Indian. This is intended in order to outline the Orientalist that can be found in the works of the Portuguese poet, assuming that Osório de Castro creates his own Orient. We seek to ascertain the specificity of this creation, identifying his strategies and possible intentions.

Jardim, Cila Maria. January 2003 (has links)
Considering that this is a crucial matter to the Romantic authors, to whom Eça de Queirós is so much critical, we try to check how he treats this subject in those stories, published in a period considered the most radical in terms of the realistic aesthetic obedience. For such proposal, the narrative procedures used by Eça de Queirós are analised and topics as narrator, characters, space and time are observed to find out how the author leads them to the desired narrative effect. In both stories, a joint of these elements is attended, allowing the conclusion that the loving feeling takes to the spiritual damage and in the case of "No moinho", also moral / Mestre

Lopes, Tania Mara Antonietti. January 2011 (has links)
De posse destes e de outros estudos da teoria da narrativa, analisamos os textos literários, com a preocupação de identificar elementos que inserem os romances mencionados na perspectiva do realismo mágico, procedendo também à reflexão sobre o diálogo que o autor português realiza com a literatura hispano-americana por meio desse procedimento, procurando compreender o processo de construção dos romances pelo viés da narrativa mágica e suas contribuições para a literatura contemporânea / Abstract: This study aims to present the features of magical realism in an analysis of A jangada de pedra (SARAMAGO, 2006) and in readings of As intermitências da morte (SARAMAGO, 2005) and Ensaio sobre a cegueira (SARAMAGO, 2007), in which that narrative procedure - taking into account the narrator - acquires a dialogical function, that comes to the fore through intertextual references about myths, legends and other forms of the Western literary tradition. The literary analysis is based on the ideas of Gerárd Genette and other authors about the narrator; for the concept of magical realism, we use essentially the reflexions of Irlemar Chiampi and William Spindler; as for the dialogues induced by the intertextuality, we make reference to the concepts proposed by Mikhail Bakhtin, Lauren Jenny and Lucien Dällembach. Using those and other studies of narrative theory, we analyze Saramago‟s texts, bearing ever in mind the need to identify elements that insert those novels in the perspective of magical realism, proceeding also to reflect about the dialogue the Portuguese author creates with the Spanish-American literature through this procedure, aiming to understand the process of novel building through the lens of magical narrative and its contributions to contemporaneous literature / Doutor

Rodrigues, Bruno Silva January 2015 (has links)
Literary works and other manifestations that demonstrate, disseminate or stimulate the practice of extremely brief narrative texts have increasingly been gaining ground in the 21st-century. This phenomenon, which varies in intensity depending on the country - seemingly more substantial in the American continent and more timid in European countries - has ramifications more or less on a global scale. Naturally, there has been, over the last few decades, a greater awareness of the dissemination of this type of productions, thanks to the visibility that new information technology, above all the Internet, has afforded. This tendency, however, just like any other human activity, is bound to have antecedents. To analyse its roots may help us to understand its relevance today. The research carried out here has as its object of study extremely brief narrative texts produced in Portugal. It focuses on a period of time which, it will be argued, is of utmost importance for the presence of micro-narratives in the Portuguese literary landscape: the period situated between the dawn of modernism at the beginning of the 1910s and the post-revolutionary moment when Ana Hatherly publishes the third volume of her overarching project entitled Tisanas, in 1980.

Borges, Joana Junqueira. January 2018 (has links)
Abstract: Proceeding the research of Translation History, in particular the recovery of classic legacy texts translated to Portuguese in previous ages and by less known writers, the actual work intends to study and to edit, in connection to accepting and producing, the translation of D. Leonor de Almeida (1750-1839), the fourth Marchioness of Alorna, for the Poetic Art of Horace, published in London in 1812. This poet, almost "canonical", has a biography that increased the interest of literary critics from the nineteenth century to the present day; often the events of her life intertwine with the history of Portugal; and increases the interest of historians to her presence in literary circles of her time. Furthermore, the historical investigation in connection to the creation of this translation allowed the contact with texts that made easier to study the possibilities that the poets and translators in that time understood the translation and, consequently, allows us to check how these questions materialize the poetics and translation of D. Leonor. In addition to a brief historical and translation study, we intend to present the edition of the Poetic Art translation from the manuscript, found in the National Archive of the Torre do Tombo, in Lisbon / Doutor
