Srovnání vybraných komerčních reportingových BI platforem / Comparison of selected commercial reporting BI platforms

This Diploma thesis focuses on a comparison of selected commercial reporting BI platforms. The goals of the thesis are to create pilot dashboards based on three Business Intelligence tools, compare these tools among themselves and select the most optimal one for creating dashboards. The theoretical part describes the problematics of Business Intelligence, its principles and components. These are divided into several layers such as production systems, transformation and data layers, data analysis and presentation layer. The performance dashboard are then described and an indepth analysis of the commercial tools market has been performed. In the practical part pilot dashboards are created based on retail chains data in three selected Business Intelligence tools Power BI, QlikView and Tableau. These are then compared and based on a multi-criteria analysis the optimal tool for creating dashboards is selected and recommended. The evaluation criteria, their weights using Fuller´s method and the final evaluation based on the Weighted Sum Approach are set in the analysis. The Diploma thesis is set up for a project of the Competency center Retail Analytics and for the professional community. It shall be used as one of the sources in the selection of BI reporting platform.

This master’s thesis focuses on monitoring and profiling multidimensional database and reports. The project was created in MS SSIS to this purpose and it contains 4 ETL packages. The thesis is divided into three main sections. First section consists of theoretical background needed to accomplish the goal. In second section there is analysis of the company for which is the solution created and in the third part of the thesis there is described the proposal and it’s solution. Proposal of the solution and the solution itself was created in MS Visual Studio 2015, MS SQL Management Studio and Power BI.

The thesis is divided into three main sections – theoretical, analytical and practical. The main goal of these sections is an explanation of important concepts that are necessary to understand the solution, which is being created, analysis of the current state of selected company and detailed description of creating main solution. In this thesis following Microsoft programs were used - Visual Studio 2015, SSIS, SQL Server Management Studio 2017 and Power BI.

The data that will be used by the application are obtained from the QI system in which they are transformed into multidimensional cubes that are automatically uploaded to Microsoft SQL Analysis Services Server.

Subject of honor thesis is self-service business intelligence. Its goal is to prove that it is pos-sible to create a unified industry-specific dashboard above set of different ERP systems. First part familiarizes readers with the main theme of the paper, business intelligence, and selected tool for dashboard creation, Microsoft Power BI. The next part characterizes Soli-tea holding of which project is used and described later in this paper. There is also a place for analysis of all ERP systems provided by the group, from which is in the end chosen a sample for dashboard design. Own contribution to this field of study is proven fact that it is possible to achieve universal business intelligence solution in Power BI in a manner of single dashboard above any ERP system.

This master thesis deals with an analysis of reporting in business and its technological coverage by Microsoft Business Intelligence portfolio. The main objective of this work is to analyze the individual organization's requirements on reporting and coverage options. This work can serve as a tool for implementation of reporting in a company or for increasing the efficiency of reporting. The first part is theoretical. It deals with Business Intelligence as an environment for reporting. It also defines the basic concepts. The next part covers the area of reporting. This section provides an insight into the history, definition of outcomes and detailed classification of reporting from different perspectives. Furthermore, the definition of users reporting and the reporting standards in companies is also covered. At the end of this chapter, there is the definition of the benefits of reporting for companies. The main part of this master thesis is an analysis of the requirements for reporting in companies. The chapter defines five key perspectives which are described in a greater detail. The methods how companies should methodically approach these requirements are also discussed. The chapter further looks at the requirements for a concrete report. An output of this chapter is an effective template for gathering requirements for a specific report. The last chapter focuses on reporting portfolio analysis of Microsoft and defines the concept of Microsoft. It provides detailed information about reporting products that Microsoft offers. An analyses and a mapping of the individual characteristics of the products and the requirements is defined in this thesis.

El presente proyecto de investigación es un análisis desde la perspectiva de negocios y estadístico de la empresa Agrokasa. El objetivo principal es encontrar nuevos mercados alternativos en crecimiento que le permitan obtener una mejor rentabilidad por el precio de kilo exportado de palta. Para alcanzar lo mencionado, se llevó a cabo un análisis empresarial que nos permita comprender el contexto y rubro de la empresa. Una vez alcanzado ese objetivo, se aplicó la metodología de la ciencia de datos para encontrar países de destino que son atractivos para Agrokasa. En cuanto al conjunto de datos, se obtuvo de diferentes fuentes públicas y privadas como Veritrade, Trade Map y Adex Data Trade. En consecuencia, se logró identificar 03 mercados alternativos y potenciales, tales como, Rusia, China y Corea Del Sur. En el análisis se utilizaron diferentes herramientas tecnológicas para la compilación, depuración, procesamiento y visualización de los datos, tales como Excel, Power Bi y Python. Con lo cual se demostró la importancia de ver todas las variables en una visualización que nos permite entender el comportamiento de los datos y nos sirve como fundamento para la toma de decisiones. En cuanto a los nuevos mercados, China presento el mayor valor total FOB exportado en el periodo analizado, 2018 -2020. Pese a presentar una tendencia negativa en la Regresión Lineal. Sin embargo, el precio promedio por kilo de palta aun es conveniente. Por otro lado, Rusia fue el mercado con mayores perspectivas de crecimiento y Corea Del Sur con un mejor precio por KG. Finalmente, para todos los mercados se utilizó una técnica de ciencia de datos con aprendizaje supervisado con un enfoque predictivo para pronosticar las importaciones de cada uno de ellos a fin de establecer estrategias comerciales para penetrar en ellos. / This paper is an analysis from a business and statistical perspective of the Agrokasa company in order to find new potential markets that allow it to grow in the volume of its avocado exports and in profitability per Kg exported. To achieve the aforementioned, a previous analysis from a business approach has been used, to understand the context and business area. Once this is understood, the methodology of data science has been applied to find destination countries that are attractive to Agrokasa. The data set was obtained from different public and private sources such as Veritrade and Trademap, with which it was possible to identify 03 potential markets that were China, Russia and South Korea. In the analysis, different technological tools were used to compile, debug, process and visualize the data, such as Excel, Power Bi and Python. With which it was demonstrated the importance of seeing all the variables in a visualization that allows us to understand the behavior of the data and serves as a basis for decision-making. China was the market with the highest total FOB value exported in the analyzed period, which was from 2018 -2020, however, with a negative trend, but with a convenient average price. On the other hand, Russia was the market with the best growth prospects and South Korea with a better price per KG. ​Finally, for all markets, a data science technique with supervised learning with a predictive approach was used to forecast the imports of each of them in order to establish commercial strategies to penetrate them. / Trabajo de investigación

Valet av IT-system kan vara en omfattande process som trots många iblandade kan resultera i ett misslyckade, vilket kan leda till stora och oförutsedda kostnader. Om jämförelsen inte sker enligt en säker och beprövad process är risken större att valet blir fel då det snarare grundas på känsla och marknadsföring än en opartisk jämförelse. Företaget Genero Solutions erbjuder en IT-lösning för säljstyrning som bland annat tillhandahåller rapporter över fältsäljkårers besöksstatistik och ser ett behov av ett bättre rapportsystem som ger granskare av dessa rapporter större frihet vid exploatering av data. Många leverantörer av IT-system inom Business Intelligence erbjuder den här typen av rapportsystem, vilket gör det än svårare att välja vilket system som passar Genero Solutions bäst. Eftersom det finns en väldig mängd av dessa system är risken stor att valet blir fel om jämförelsen inte sker enligt en säker process, utan istället grundas på känsla och marknadsföring. Denna rapport innehåller en metod som jämför tre olika rapportsystem baserad på en etablerad jämförelsemetod för att undersöka möjligheten att åstadkomma ett vetenskapligt resultat. Jämförelsen granskar de tre Business Intelligence systemen Microsoft Powber BI, The Diver Solution och Qlik Sense och baseras på Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Rapporten resulterar i motiverad metod som är lämpad för undersökningen samt en rekommendation till Genero Solutions av det rapportsystem som är bäst lämpat. / Selecting the right IT-system might be an extensive process which, despite many people involved, might lead to a failure which can mean high and unforeseen costs. If the comparison of systems isn’t done according to a proven method there is a higher risk that the final choice of IT-system is based on emotions and good marketing rather than a straight and fair comparison. Genero Solutions offers an IT-solution for sales control which is partly providing reports containing statistics from the sales force on field. Genero Solutions is in need of a better reporting system which gives the inspector of the reports more flexibility when exploring data. There are many providers within Business Intelligence who is offering this kind of reporting service, which makes it even harder choosing the system fitting Genero Solutions needs. This report develops a method which is based on scientific theories and the established comparison method Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), aiming to achieve a scientifically proved result and apply it by examine the Business Intelligence systems Microsoft Power BI, The Diver Solution and Qlik Sense The result of this report in a motivated method that is suited for this investigation and also a recommendation for which system that is best suited for Genero Solutions needs.
