Magister Public Health - MPH / Cleft lip and/or palate deformity is the most common facial birth defect with an incidence of 1 in 600 for every live birth worldwide. Despite the availability of specialised cleft care in Nigeria, many cleft patients are not aware that CL±Ps can be repaired and, thus, present late for treatment. As a result, there is a high incidence of unoperated CL±P in the country which has a grim negative health impact on the population. Furthermore, it was noted that the family caregivers including parents and other members of the extended family are crucial in getting early care for these children with CL±P. Therefore, understanding the perception of CL±P, attitude and experience with cleft services would go a long way in reducing the problem of late presentation and under-utilisation of these services. Therefore, the aim of the study was to explore the care givers’ perception and experience in accessing cleft services at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, Nigeria. In this study, we employed an exploratory qualitative methodology that gave deep insights and provided clear understanding of the perceptions by caregivers of children with CL±P on the aetiology of cleft, family reactions and their experience in accessing cleft services at our hospital. Data analysis was done following verbatim transcription using thematic analysis. Ethics statement: Before commencement of the study, ethical approval was obtained from the Institutional Review Boards of the University of Western Cape and the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Health Research and Ethics Committee. Informed consent was sought from each prospective participant and the signed form appropriately documented.

Eating disorder clients show low motivation, poor follow-through, and inordinate premature dropout rates in treatment. Earlier studies support the use of pretherapy training to help clients understand the tasks and challenges of therapy. However, a pretherapy intervention, such as showing prospective clients a video that outlines recovery issues and themes, had not yet been developed specifically for the prevalent, recalcitrant problem of eating disorders. Thus, of particular interest to clinicians who treat eating disorders may be the development of a theoretically sound, pretherapy videotape that outlines recovery issues. One of the purposes of this study was to review prior investigations of the effects of pretherapy films/videos on therapy outcomes. However, the central focus of this dissertation was to develop a pretherapy video for use with eating disorder clients, and using quantitative methods, assess the quality and likely therapeutic utility of the pretherapy video. The video was developed to be theoretically consistent with Bandura's modeling paradigm, social learning theory. Eating disorder clients, a comparison group of college women, and professional clinicians who are experienced at treating women with eating disorders were asked to view and evaluate the video (developed to orient prospective clients to recovery issues during treatment for eating disorders). All three groups reportedly found the recovering women portrayed in the video credible, believable, and persuasive. All groups of observers indicated that the video presented an understandable and hopeful message possessing emotional impact, and they avowed that the video created expectations for improvement. Also, the viewers believed the pretherapy video would likely increase knowledge of eating disorder recovery, and that future eating disorder clients viewing the video would likely learn new information that would facilitate their recovery. Additionally, the three groups indicated the video seemed to be of general relevance and therapeutic utility to women with eating disorders.

In this thesis, you will find a review the development process of a multimedia presentation designed to assist the teaching of chemical equilibrium using analogies. The objective of this thesis is to report on the process of designing animated analogies and the subsequent employment of these analogies in a teaching program for grades 11 and 12 students. This thesis describes a case study in the effective use of technology in the classroom based on established research in the field of analogical thinking. The work begins with a review of relevant literature from the fields of constructivism, collaborative learning and multimedia in education. The design phase of the research sought to discover if analogies for chemical equilibrium could be successfully transferred to a multimedia presentation on a computer. The subsequent testing of the software endeavoured to discover the most appropriate teaching strategies and if the use of such a program could enhance the learning process for students. The work resulted in a completed CDROM with full teaching program included which you will find attached to this thesis. The results indicate that the experience was a positive one and that there is some evidence to show increased ability in the students in their attempts to understand a conceptually difficult area of chemistry theory.

Sinnesöverbelastning och kognitiv överbelastning medför att användaren riskerar att inte längre kunna utföra sina uppgifter tillräckligt snabbt, tillräkligt säkert eller överhuvudtaget.</p><p>Taktil presentation är presentation som använder känselsinnet. Genom att använda taktil presentation kan man avlasta övriga informationskanaler såsom synsinnet och hörselsinnet. Dessutom är det visat att även om en människa inte klarar av att ta in mer information via ett sinne kan det totala informationsintaget ökas genom att använda flera sinnen.</p><p>I det här examensarbetet har två demonstratorer utvecklats till Saab Aerosystems AB för att illustera hur man kan använda taktil information för att avlasta övriga sinnen och för att öka en användares situationsmedvetenhet och därmed öka prestationen.</p>

The movement of blog is its usage of friendly interface, which makes fearful people overcome the barriers to the technology. Moreover, blog makes people hold the power, which in the past only a few privileges could have to contact the society. Its model of usage also becomes uploading from downloading. Blogging has people be the public communicators to the whole world. Blogging, which contains the characteristics of personality, free writing style, immediateness, and hyperlinks, has become the top ten of popular internet activities in Taiwan since 2006. Blog is the virtual environment controlled by its owner. Therefore, the correct self-image presented in front of the audiences is quite important. Trammell and Keshelashvili found that A-list bloggers not only express much more self information than common users but also actively engage in the impression management. The purpose of this research uses the dramaturgy of Goffman, self-concept of James, and impression management of Jones to discuss these popular bloggers how to play each self-performance and fulfill the dreams to be super stars in their fields through the usage of some blog elements, such as words, multimedia and so on. A-list blogs are not merely searched, hyperlinked and subscribed by other blogs but their views can compete with the mainstream media as well. Therefore, this research has tried to investigate the internal characteristics of blog content and the self-presentation and the strategies of impression management of A-list bloggers. The results of this research are divided by the discussions in the three dimensions. First, the external characteristics of A-list blogs remain the basic or original structure and a little change. Moreover, A-list blogs use few stretched elements and their articles are published with both words and pictures. Second, the research has found that these A-list blogs are mainly diary-type and besides, personal and life-style typologies. In other words, A-list bloggers view blog as the platform of their expression and self-record. Especially, the female A-list bloggers prefer to the diary-type blogs. On the contrary, more male A-list bloggers have the filter-diary blogs. Furthermore, hyperlinks extend the bloggers¡¦ views, express their personal information and also present the image as¡§blog is me¡¨. Third, the self-presentation of A-list bloggers is the performance of the front stage, which most bloggers carefully control in front of the audiences to get their liking and praise with the ingratiation and self-promotion.

Automated warehouses are frequently used within the industry. SQL databases are often used for storing various kinds of information about stored items, including their physical positions in the warehouse with respect to X, Y and Z positions. Benefits of this includes savings in working time, optimization of storage capability and – most of all – increased employee safety. IT services company Sogeti’s office in Karlstad has been looking into a project on behalf of one of their customers to implement this kind of automated warehouse. In the pilot study of this project, ideas of a three-dimensional graphic visualization of the warehouse and its stored contents have come up. This kind of tool would give a warehouse operator a clear overview of what is currently in store, as well as quick access to various pieces of information about each and every item in store. Also, in a wider perspective, other types of warehouses and storage areas could benefit from this kind of tool. During the course of this project, a graphical visualization tool for this purpose was developed, resulting in a product that met a significant part of the initial requirements.
