Unified framework for construction project integration and its potential association with project performance

Ospina Alvarado, Angelica Maria 04 April 2011 (has links)
The construction industry is not performing as desired by the stakeholders that compose it. Several authors and practitioners have claimed that moving the industry towards a more integrated approach to project delivery could notoriously improve the overall performance of the industry. The main purpose of this dissertation was to obtain a unified framework for project integration, by identifying the critical success attributes for achieving project integration, the different levels of importance of attributes other than the critical success attributes to improve the integration process, and by determining if there are major differences among the perceptions of respondents depending on their role in the industry. In addition, this study also sought to identify potential associations between the integration attributes and the different project performance or project success criteria. In order to develop this framework and to identify the potential associations between integration attributes and project performance, a survey was conducted. The sample of the survey was composed of construction industry practitioners; it included owners, facility managers, engineers, specialty consultants, general contractors, subcontractors, among other professionals. The sample size was 264 respondents. The main method used for developing the framework was the Thurstone Scaling Method of Successive Interval Procedure; in addition, this method was complemented and validated using correlation analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis and analysis of the means. According to the perception of respondents, 19 attributes out of the 45 attributes under study, were identified as critical for successfully achieving project integration. In addition, four other categories of importance were identified and the other integration attributes were categorized accordingly. No major differences were found between the perceptions that different project participants had in regard to the importance of the different attributes to achieve project integration, leading to the conclusion that the perception of respondents in regard to this matter is very homogeneous. The potential impact of the 45 attributes on 12 performance criteria was analyzed. According to the perception of respondents, most of the integration attributes have different levels of impact on the different performance criteria; however there is not a clear relationship between the level of importance for achieving project integration and the level of potential impact on the different performance criteria. Most of the integration attributes are divided in two groups depending on their behavior across all integration criteria; in addition there are three groups that have one attribute each. The potential impact of each of these groups differs from one performance criterion to the other; however there are some performance criteria where the behavior of the groups is similar. The groups have a similar behavior on cost, time, and productivity; they also behave similarly on quality and owner satisfaction; on functionality and user satisfaction; and on health and safety and environmental impact and sustainability.

Integrace aplikací v podmínkách telekomunikačního operátora / Integration of Applications in Terms of Telecommunications Operator

Vilímek, Josef January 2008 (has links)
This work deals with application integration in telecommunications companies. It concerns the areas of project management, software development, enterprise architecture and system integration. The theoretical part is verified in a real practical project that was realized in cooperation with a major telecommunications company operating in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work is to synthesize available information relating to application integration and apply this knowledge within the telecommunications company. Another aim is to map the current methodology that can be used in integration projects and to compare various approaches to the methodology. The final objective is to verify the theoretical knowledge in real projects realized in cooperation with the telecommunications operator. This objective involves an analysis of the current state of the integration system and to realize the initial phase of the project according to the chosen methodology. Objectives are met by systematic synthesis of information from available resources and by supplementing author's knowledge and practical experience. The contribution of this work lies in the summary of the basic theory of application integration and its subsequent integration into telecommunications business. Another contribution is the explana-tion of the development of a new version of OptiNet, realized for a telecommunications operator, including activities defined in the selected methodology.

Implementation and integration of a collaborative robot in a production line

Bafounis Kottas, Emmanouil January 2019 (has links)
Scope of this thesis is the integration and implementation of a collaborative robot in the production line. In the first chapter, the project is described, and its objectives, purpose, boundaries and requirements are defined. Moreover, the project management tools and techniques are presented. All the steps and procedures followed before the initiation of the project are analysed. In the second chapter, the basic theoretical background necessary for a better understanding of the content of this thesis is presented. The history and development of collaborative robots, as well as the industrial evolutions are mentioned. The different types of collaborative robots and their importance in Industry 4.0 and current production are analysed. The third chapter deals with the detailed description of the project. All the devices and equipment are presented thoroughly. The programming logic and working flow is explained. In the last chapter according to the initial objectives, boundaries and requirements the success of the project is assessed. An analysis of how the installation of automate corrugate loader affected the production process is performed. Future changes, improvements and technical suggestions are discussed. The ultimate goal of this thesis project is that the content in the thesis report will be used as a guide for future installations of same or similar type of robots. The aim is to avoid many of the mistakes made, due to rush decisions, lack of experience and communication between team members. The leaning curve obtained during the implementation of the project, can lead to more effective projects in the future.

TITLE: ICT as a possible implement for education in nursery school utilization of intranet to communicate faster, nursery management and further education itself, ICT Integration into nursery school AUTHOR: Bc. Ivana Koppová DEPARTMENT: Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Education, Centre for Management Education SUPERVISOR: Ing. Petr Svoboda, Ph.D. Abstract One of the important parts of the activities of the kidergarten and preschool education in a comprehensive approach is the using of ICT knowledge and skills during nursery management, further education, planning, integration of ICT in Kindergarten and above all in pre-school educational process. Characteristics of the process of this activity is contained in the thesis, which describes, explains and deals with the procedures not only theoretically, but also in practical examples. It tries to provide certain analysis of the situation, continuity of requests and matters of fact in practice of kindergarten. Using of computer technology in business management, education of adults and children is undoubtedly necessary, has its good reason and its advantages. The practical part of the thesis brings possibility of application and use of the project in the intranet medium in kidergarten with separated workplaces. The part of this thesis is the research,...
