Politique publique en matière d’éducation en Haïti et phénomènes de violence en milieu scolaire / Public policy in education in Haiti and violence within schools.

Jeune, Meniol 02 December 2014 (has links)
We selected maximum responses are, in view of the results, the major determinants of these phenomena: the use of verbal abuse, the use of psychological violence and even physical violence. The results of this research highlight the implications to educational level, taking into account the representations of students and teachers. They shall also highlight a hotspot for the school to ensure the necessary discipline in community life while respecting the democratic principles that enshrine the rights and freedoms of everyone. The interpretation of what students and teachers who participated in this research allows to draft responses that take into account their expectations and meet both the requirements of a rigorous educational and democratic principles of law school. As to public policy in education, the Haitian state is very low, it was not the right people to their right place. So doing, the situation remains untouchable. To remedy this, the state must implement an education policy that aims to give education its true meaning and its true value is to say form be to become citizens of tomorrow and not violent.

Contributory factors leading to domestic violence: A case study of Mangaya Village in Thulamela Local Municipality, Vhembe District, Limpopo Province, South Africa

Nemasisi, Rofhiwa Ronald 18 May 2018 (has links)
MGS / Institute for Gender and Youth Studies /  Domestic violence is a social problem experienced by people in various settings and social relationships. Factors such as cultural beliefs, patriarchal practices, economic background, socialization process, gender stereotypes are key drivers of domestic violence in our communities. Internationally, the problem is said to be a social ill that contributes to many social problems. Domestic violence takes place across all walks of life regardless of race, age, sexual orientation or gender. It takes place in urban areas and in rural areas all over the world. Domestic violence happens to people who are legally or traditionally married and amongst intimate partners. This study therefore explores the contributory factors leading to domestic violence. The study made use of qualitative research approach. Purposive sampling procedure was used to identify participants who were more willing to take part in the study. The study used Semi structured interviews to collect data. Thus, discourse analysis was used in the study to analyse data. The study was conducted at Mangaya village in Thulamela Local Municipality, Vhembe District, Limpopo Province in South Africa. The study findings revealed that unemployment is a challenge and contributory factor leading to domestic violence, most of women had suffered domestic violence for a long period of time, children are directly affected by domestic violence within families, most women sacrifice themselves in order to save their marriages and protect their children. The findings of the study indicate that there are various aspects that contribute to the problem of domestic violence. The study recommends that community and police should actively work together in helping the victims of domestic violence to overcome their irrational thinking that is combed by remaining in abusive situations. / NRF

Barns rättigheter : En komparativrättslig studie om förståelse avvåld mot barn i hemmet i Sverige och Sydafrika / Children’s rights : A comparative law study on understanding domestic violence againstchildren in Sweden and South Africa

Corsea, Elin Anoshe, Sammy, Sinead Cassandra January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate how South African and Swedish legislation as wellas case law regarding domestic violence and punishment against children is presented in both legal systems. Two methods are used as help to answer the two core questions in this thesis. The result of the study showed that the definitions of physical, psychological and sexual abusein both countries are listed as the same assaults and each country has an obligation to relocate children that have been exposed to those forms of violence. Many children in both countries have experienced some type of domestic violence during their childhood which makes the institutions whom work and have qualifications in questions regarding abused children to protect them from all forms of violence and have to strive more in order to make a better living for the next generations forward. When it comes to decision making courts and authorities in both countries have an obligation to always act in the child’s best interest which clearly appears in both constitutions.

Ohrožované dítě. Ohrožování dětí a jeho vztahový rámec u jedinců umisťovaných do diagnostického ústavu / Abused child. Child abuse and its referential framework in individuals placed to a diagnostic institute

Víravová, Jiřina January 2014 (has links)
TITLE: Abused child: Child abuse and its referential framework in individuals placed to a diagnostic institute AUTHOR: Jiřina Víravová DEPARTMENT: The Department of Special Education SUPERVISOR: Doc. Boris Titzl, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The submitted thesis focuses on the phenomenon of child abuse and neglect. The theoretical background for these issues had to be found in the science branches which have so far made the contribution to the explanation of the child abuse and neglect. Medicine (mainly traumatology) explains the mechanism of physical abuse, psychiatric- psychological approach not only enhances the topic with the psychical abuse and neglect, but also offers a backup to a non-moralizing explanation why abusing persons behave in such way. Sociological and ethological approach helps to understand the contextual factors which could foster the child abuse and neglect. The social work point of view is used to introduce the system of care of the abused children. Special pedagogy part of this thesis approaches the situation and education of the abused children mainly from the ethopedical point of view and reflects specific questions of institutional education. This part of the thesis is illustrated by real stories of abused and neglected children from the institutional education. In the research part of the...

A Comparison of Three Groups of Undergraduate College Males--Physically Abusive, Psychologically Abusive, and Non-Abusive: a Quantitative Analysis

Lundeberg, Kirsten Marie 16 October 1999 (has links)
This study compares three groups of undergraduate college males in heterosexual dating relationships: those who are physically and psychologically abusive (n=39), those who are solely psychologically abusive (n=44), and those who are non-abusive (n=34). These three groups are compared along the following variables: self-reported history of experiencing family of origin violence; self-reported history of witnessing family of origin violence; level of self-reported impulsivity; level of self-reported satisfaction with life; level of self-reported alcohol use; level of self-reported relationship satisfaction; and amount of self-reported anger management skill. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed significant main effects among the three groups of males along several of the variables examined (Wilks' Lambda F = 4.80, df = 10, 220, p <.001). Post hoc tests revealed significant differences among the three groups of males. This study revealed that these three groups differ significantly along their levels of alcohol use (F = 10.16, p <.001), their reported levels of relationship satisfaction (F = 4.23, p <.05), and their levels of anger management skills (F = 14.56, p<.001). This information can be helpful to clinicians and educators who are working with college populations. It would seem that psychoeducation might be useful for some of these men so that they might develop alternatives to violence, and may hopefully decrease the risk factors associated with the perpetration of relationship violence. Intervening early and effectively with these dating relationships can be a substantive step towards preventing the escalation and maintenance of violence in relationships. / Master of Science

Effects of Partner Violence and Psychological Abuse on Women's Mental Health Over Time.

Temple, Jeff R. 08 1900 (has links)
This study examined the distinct effects of partner violence and psychological abuse on women's mental health over time. Latent growth modeling was used to examine stability and change over time, evaluating the course and consequences of each form of abuse. The size of women's social support network was examined as a mediator. The sample consisted of 835 African American, Euro-American, and Mexican American low-income women. Participants who completed Waves 1, 2, 3, and 5 were included in the study (n = 585). In general, partner violence decreased over time for all groups, while psychological abuse decreased over time for only Euro-American women. Whereas initial and prolonged exposure to psychological abuse was related to and directly impacted women's mental health, partner violence was only related to initial levels of mental health. Surprisingly, social support was only related to initial violence and distress and had no impact on the rate of change over time. These results have important implications for researchers and health care professionals. First, differences in the pattern of results were found for each ethnic group, reaffirming the notion that counselors and researchers must be sensitive to multicultural concerns in both assessment and intervention. For example, psychological abuse had a greater impact on the mental health of African American and Mexican American women than it did for Euro-American women, suggesting a shift in focus depending on the ethnicity of the client may be warranted. Second, this longitudinal study highlights the importance of future research to considerer individual differences in treating and studying victimized women. Understanding factors that contribute to individual trajectories will help counselors gain insight into the problem and in devising plans to prevent or reduce the occurrence and negative health impact of partner abuse.

A personal research into the concept of power/knowledge abuse within the church

Van Zyl, Mathew Paul 11 1900 (has links)
This research regarding power/knowledge abuse within the church was conducted within the postmodern social construction discourse and in the context of narrative therapy, feminist theology and practical theology. It presents a chronicle of five individuals who experienced abuse within their congregations. It reflects on the co-authoring journey of these five individuals personally and within the context of the narrative group. As part of the narrative group they came to re-author their lives around what they had experienced regarding abuse within their churches. Together they challenged those dominant structures that are so often hidden just below `sacred' tradition. In conclusion the five individuals experienced a renaissance within themselves and their personal theology of God and His dealings within the church. This renaissance has led them to seek out others who have experienced this form of abuse and to give them the hope that they discovered together. / Practical Theology / M. Th. 童年情緒無效性、情緒不接納與青少年自我傷害行為之關係 / The Relationship between Childhood Emotional Invalidation, Emotional Nonacceptance, and Adolescents’ Deliberate Self-harm Behaviors

曾愛迪, Tseng, Ai Ti Unknown Date (has links)
Linehan (1993), Krause et al. (2003) found individuals who grow up in an emotional invalidating environment during childhood may have difficulties in emotional regulation, and emotional invalidation often deteriorate both psychological and behavior problems later on in their adulthood, including deliberate self-harm behaviors. Therefore, this study tried to investigate whether childhood emotional invalidation can cause one’s emotional nonacceptance, and therefore can increase the probability of deliberate self-harm behaviors. The purpose of this study was to develop the scale of emotional nonacceptance, and to explore the relationship between childhood emotional invalidation, emotional nonacceptance and adolescents’ deliberate self-harm behaviors. The study was based on questionnaires, and the participants were 478 high school students in Taiwan. The main results were as follows: First, the scale of emotional nonacceptance can be divided into two factors: self evaluation of emotion and denial of emotion. Second, negative emotion socialization and psychological abuse can predict adolescents’ self evaluation of emotion. Third, psychological abuse can predict the occurrence and accumulative frequency of deliberate self-harm of senior high school students, and self evaluation of emotion can predict the occurrence of deliberate self-harm of all high school students. Finally, self evaluation of emotion and denial of emotion do not play as mediators between childhood emotional invalidation and the frequency of adolescents’ deliberate self-harm behaviors. The investigator discussed the different stages of psychological development between junior and senior high school students, the differences between negative emotion socialization and psychological abuse, and their paths that influence deliberate self-harm behaviors.
