O trabalho focaliza as ponderações sobre cidadania e democracia contidas no objeto de estudo: as tiras cômicas da Turma da Mafalda, criadas por Quino. As tiras cômicas como mídia que produz e é produzida pela opinião pública extemporaneamente. O objetivo central é capturar o que as tiras cômicas dizem sobre o consciente coletivo do cidadão e examinar como o criador pensa o imaginário político e o socializa. Mais especificamente, objetiva-se: identificar o teor político implícito nas tiras cômicas da Mafalda; mapear o que as tiras estão reproduzindo de imaginário social representativo de um segmento desta sociedade e apontar que sentimentos transparecem sobre o governo, a humanidade, as políticas públicas, sua condição enquanto cidadão. Registrar, através de uma análise fundamentada na ciência política e em áreas afins, as contribuições políticas das tiras cômicas e suas mensagens a respeito dos enunciados de cidadania e democracia. Objetiva-se, ademais, evidenciar outra fonte de conhecimento político para além das abordagens que privilegiam as questões de ordem institucional e sociológico-estrutural. A pesquisa é de natureza qualitativa com fins exploratórios e orienta-se pela técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados do estudo demonstram que o cenário de representação política, inscrito nos conteúdos das mensagens das tiras cômicas da Turma da Mafalda, apontam sugestões de mudança política via alteração de valores sociais e da cultura política. Este mesmo cenário sugere a institucionalização de outras práticas a serem seguidas pelas instituições políticas. / The work focuses the balances on citizenship and democracy in the study subject: the Mafalda comics strips created by Quino. The comic strips as media that produces and is produced by the public opinion spontaneously. The main objective is to capture what the comic strips says on collective conscientious of the citizen and to investigate how the creator think about the politician imaginary and socializes it. The specifics objectives: to identify the implicit politician substance in the comic strips of the Mafalda; to map what the strips are reproducing of imaginary social representative of a segment of this society and pointing that feelings that growing up on the government, the humanity, the public politics, its condition while citizen. To bring up the contributions of the comic strips to the construction process of the citizenship and democracy. Objective, furthermore, to evidence another source of knowledge politician it stops beyond the boarding that privilege the questions of institutional and sociological-structural order. The research is of qualitative nature with exploratory ends and is oriented for the technique of content analysis. The results of the study demonstrate that the scene of politics representation, enrolled in the contents of the messages of the comic strips of the Group of the Mafalda, points suggestions of politics changes through alteration of social values and the culture politics. This exactly scene suggests the institutionalization of others practical to be followed for the institutions politics.
