Du storyboard au storyboardeur : étude comparative d'une activité cinématographique en France et aux États-Unis / From the storyboard to the storyboard artist : a comparative study of a film practice in France and in the United States

Russell, Diane 28 September 2011 (has links)
The starting point of this work involves a quantitative analysis of the object »storyboard » applied on a large corpus. The taxonomy here established, crossed witha qualitative approach, allows one to reveal communication codes and invariantsinherent to this preproduction device. This first leads to the definition of the toolstoryboard among other film preparation drawings. The classification of the dataaccording to its period then brings a new perspective to the analysis: it is through theobject, vestige of its own story and vector of ideas, from which are drawn the socialinteractions and the professionalization of those who manufacture it. The studyconcerns two different conceptions of the storyboarding practice, on both sides of theAtlantic Ocean

Kučerová, Lucie January 2017 (has links)
The master thesis The media construction of feminity according to women's lifestyle magazines in years 2006 and 2016 is concerned with values, that women's lifestyle magazines present to women. These values concern with topics such relationships, sexuality, face, health and succees in career. The thesis will examine, in which roles women appear in these magazines. The first chapter is focused on historical development of magazine publishing in Czech Republic since 1989. The second chapter describes development of trends in the media content in the last decade. The third part deals with the media and lifestyle magazines ownership. The fourth part introduces a general content of women's lifestyle magazines. Open-book assessment in the qualifying examination of South African chartered accountants

Du Preez, Hanneke 21 September 2011 (has links)
The global financial environment is constantly and rapidly shifting. This has resulted in changes to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). In support of the developments in the global business environment and the swift changes in IFRS, the local financial regulators have had to follow with supporting changes in national regulations. Taking the above factors into consideration, the auditing and accounting professions all over the world face various challenges, and South Africa (SA) is no exception. Thus, it was imperative for these professions in SA to make the same radical alterations. One of the areas demanding attention was the process of becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA). Inter alia, one focus area was the final examination in the qualifying process. The Chartered Accountant Qualifying Examination Part One (QE Part 1) has been changed from a closed-book assessment to an open-book assessment. This change is relevant because of the importance of the examination itself and the apparent lack of intensive research on students’ perceptions of this type of assessment. In my research I explored the perceptions of taxation students on open-book assessment in the QE Part 1. My study commenced with a focus group (consisting of students that had no previous open-book assessment exposure). I used Interactive qualitative analysis (IQA) as qualitative research method. During this focus group, the students identified ten perceptions (also referred to as affinities) on open-book assessment. For each affinity the focus group provided a descriptive name and an explanatory definition. These affinities were: good preparation, back-up, encourage, general advantages, improve quality of answers, negative symptoms, negative environment, personal experience and hindrance, different approach and time management. This group of students also identified relationships between these different affinities. These relationships were summarized and reflected in a system interrelationship diagram (SID). Findings from this SID indicated that students perceive good preparation as the strongest driver for successful completion of an open-book assessment. The SID indicates three primary outcomes namely negative symptoms, a different approach and time management. The affinities as identified by the focus group were then used during the interviews (conducted with students who had previous open-book assessment exposure). During the IQA interviews, the students were asked to comment on the posed affinities and the possible relationships between them. These findings were summarized and reflected in an interview SID. This SID indicated that these students perceived the primary driver in the system to be a different approach with two primary outcomes - negative environment and improvement in quality of answers. The IQA method is in essence a theory–generating tool that assisted me in my understanding of a group and individual students’ perceptions, before and after exposure to an open-book assessment. / Dissertation (MCom)--University of Pretoria, 2011. / Taxation / unrestricted

Media and Crisis communication : Do frames align in cases of extraordinary crises? A qualitative analysis of FOCUS online and Bild's coverage of the 2015-Germanwings airplane crash

Le Roux, Morgane January 2017 (has links)
The media and crisis communication of a company operate according to different logics. The media are known to be more entertainment driven, while the company tries to remain trustworthy and publishes information only once it is confirmed. Does this difference in logic and in framing a crisis persist when the crisis occurs without any warning signs?Different crisis life-cycle models exist of which two of them are presented and discussed within this study. Additionally, media framing, media logic theory and crisis communication theory are further going to be clarified in order to identify if the difference in framing an extraordinary crisis persist. One of the addressed research questions aims to determine if there was a difference in covering the event between Germanwings and two German media, Bild and FOCUS online. The objective of the second research question is to discern if there was a frame-alignment between the two different types of media, Bild and FOCUS online. The results show that Bild and FOCUS online applied different frames while covering the event. While Bild merely focused on emotional stories and speculations over the cause of the accident, FOCUS online based their coverage on facts and statements. Furthermore, FOCUS online aligned their frames with Germanwings crisis reportage, whereas Bild merely covered according to the media logic theory.

Biografické snímky jako konstrukce reality / Biographies as a construction of reality

Martinů, Jakub January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on the transmediality and adaptation phenomena and on the process of adaptation translation into the performative medium, a movie. The phenomena are grounded in the academical background, and their origin and historical development of their studies are contained in the theoretical part of the thesis. Furthermore, the different approaches to evaluation of the final product of the adaptation process are analyzed and it is explained that the evaluation of the adaptation is not bound by the fidelity criteria, but rather the overall transformation of the original message into the new media, in this case a movie. Due to these findings, the method of qualitative comparative analysis was used for the analytical part of the thesis. The qualitative research was focused mainly on the adaptation shifts as defined by Katerina Perdikaki, modulation, modification, mutation. Four biographical books of well- known personalities and their subsequent movie adaptations were analyzed. From these stories, four key moments were chosen to be used for the qualitative comparative analysis in order to research the adaptation shifts in the individual stories and their impact on the process of the creation of the adaptation and the final performative piece. The sample of the books was carefully...

Interakce developerů a starostů suburbánních obcí v zázemí Prahy / Interactions of developers and mayors of suburban municipalities in hinterland of Prague

Martinovská, Denisa January 2018 (has links)
This master's thesis is devoted to the character of the interaction and negotiation about residential development between the municipality representatives and development companies, the key players in the suburban development. As the geographical area for the research were chosen selected municipalities in north-east hinterland of Prague. The theoretical part summarizes the institutional approach, residential suburbanization, spatial planning and the residential development. The practical part consists of the research itself. It was done as the qualitative analysis of the semi-structured interviews with the municipality representatives and development companies. The interviews are then evaluated on the basis of the theoretical thematic analysis. The interaction between developers and mayors is quite complicated because it represents the conflict of private and public interests. This leads to further negotiations. The character of the interaction and also the negotiations are more or less formed by various circumstances. In this thesis have been distinguished four types of interactions. These types differs in the conditions and requirements determination by the mayors and its fulfillment by the development companies. Keywords: suburbanization, spatial planning, developer, development project,...

Pressens bildrepresentation om äldre under Covid-19 2020 : En kvantitativ och kvalitativ bildanalys av äldres representation i Aftonbladet och Dagens Nyheter / The image representation in Swedish news press of elderly under Covid-19 2020. : A quantitative and qualitative image analysis of the elderly representation in Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter.

Johansson, Jesper, Johansson, Victoria January 2021 (has links)
The recommendations in Sweden following the coronavirus has led to a group of elderly people feeling discriminated – as some might not relate to the stereotypical view of people above the age of 70. This is just somewhat example how a negative stereotype towards elderly people could take form. A view similar like this towards elderly people that includes prejudicial attitudes or negative stereotypes is a form of discrimination, and goes by the name of ageism – which also might be our most accepted form of discrimination today. Sweden is a home for over 1.6 million people above the age of 70, which makes up for around 16 % of the total population. That makes the group a large target for discrimination. It might not be easy to reach out to all these people by yourself, but it’s certain that big media corporations have the power to do so. Our goal with this thesis was to study how two of the largest dailies in Sweden – Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter image distribution of the elderly people look like in terms of representation during the restrictions and recommendations of the coronavirus. In order to achieve this we used Lars Anderssons interpretation of ageism as our theoretical starting point, but also Stuart Hall’s theory about representation to answer in which way elderly people are being represented. The first level of analysis for this thesis was quantitative, as we wanted to see in frequencies which way the subject for this study is portrayed. This then gave us a broader picture we can work with for our qualitative analysis, where we then focused on analyzing semiotically of the elderly looks like in the news pictures during the given time frame for this study from 1ˢᵗ of April to 30ᵗʰ September. The results presented in this thesis did not share a similar result with most of the recent studies in the same field – which reveals how elderly people are portrayed in a negative ageing stereotype as well as underrepresented in the media.

Expresivní psaní jako terapeutická metoda / Expressive writing as a therapeutic method

Beránková, Justýna January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce expressive writing, whose therapeutic potential was discovered in the 1980s by James W. Pennebaker, and explore the method closely in our own qualitative research. Presented thesis describes the origin, the process and the effects of expressive writing on various aspects of life, the conditions under which has the method the best therapeutic effect are discussed, and several variants of the intervention are also presented. The theoretical part is concluded with theories of functioning of expressive writing. The empirical part of the thesis is dedicated to the qualitative data analysis - nineteen university students were writing expressively into online forms in their natural environment for twenty minutes for four consecutive days according to instructions. The qualitative analysis deals with the content, thus the thematic analysis, as well as with the form of the collected writings. The students' common topics were especially relationships, university studies, and lack of free time. The participants often dealt with their own personality, somatic, mental and spiritual issues, and their solitude. The analysis distinguished five basic forms of writing and a couple of sub-tools. The main categories are finally viewed through the time perspective. In conclusion,...

Analýza potencionálního vlivu současné hudby a hudebních textů na utváření genderových identit z pohledu posluchačů / Analysis of Potential Impact of Contemporary Music and Lyrics on Gender Construction from the Audience Perspective

Marxtová, Kateřina January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of gender in music and also its perception by the audience. The research topic was chosen for the increasing consumption of music media and for the lack of research focused on gender in music and on the perception of music lyrics in general. The research part uses both the qualitative content analysis of music lyrics contained in the sample of Billboard Top Charts songs for the past 50 years (between years 1970-2019), and also semi-structured qualitative interviews on a multi-generation sample. Included in the content analysis was the total of 500 songs, interviewed were 8 respondents of various genders and ages to accomplish a diverse sample. The topics of males, females and their relationship proved to be the dominant topics in the research music sample, and it also went through a significant development over time. The research identified a movement from metaphoric language to explicit, at the same time it identified a development of the metaphors. Also observed was the inclination to communicate different topics between male and female artists. Women were more focused on the topics of love, love triangle, end of the relationship, and submission. Men focused predominantly on the topics of sex, intimacy, and in the recent years also on money and addictions,...
