Quanto ao conjunto dos números complexos, um importante resultado é que todo polinômio de grau n (maior ou igual a 1) e com coeficientes complexos tem n raízes complexas. De modo geral, o presente trabalho tem o objetivo de contextualizar algumas aplicações das raízes da unidade na matemática. Apresentamos sua aplicação em um caso particular do Teorema de Dirichlet, na construção de reticulados, cuja utilidade está ligada a problemas de transmissão de sinal, e na história da resolução do Último Teorema de Fermat. / The search for the solution of some relevant problems, or even of equations, has been a source of inspiration to extend the numerical sets. As for the set of complex numbers, an important result is that every polynomial of degree n (bigger or equal 1) and with complex coefficients has n complex roots. In general, the present work aims to contextualize some applications of the roots of unit in mathematics. We present its application in a particular case of the Dirichlet Theorem, in the construction of lattices, whose utility is linked to signal transmission problems, and in the history of the resolution of the Fermat's Last Theorem.

The justification for choosing the theme hovers about its contemporaneity, besides the expectation of contributing to the academic scope. The research method followed is qualitative, with a basic research approach, exploratory nature and information collection through bibliographic research. Among the main findings, it was possible to conclude that algebraic equations arise in the midst of ancient human civilizations, in the man's attempt to measure quantities and solve everyday problems of life. Therefore, it is noted that, unlike the stigma that hangs over the content of mathematics, the science it involves is not far from reality and human experience, but rather a part of it that seeks answers to the common problems of life. What makes math as a whole and the algebraic equations common problems of life that need to be learned and solved. / O presente trabalho tem como objetivo central debater de maneira conceitual sobre o processo e evolução histórica da resolução das equações algébricas. A justificativa para a escolha do tema paira sobre sua contemporaneidade, além da expectativa de contribuir para o âmbito acadêmico. O método de pesquisa empreendido segue natureza qualitativa, com abordagem de pesquisa básica, de natureza exploratória e coleta de informações por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica. Dentre os principais achados, foi possível concluir que as equações algébricas surgem em meio a civilizações humanas antigas, na tentativa do homem de mensurar quantidades e resolver problemas cotidianos da vida. Portanto, nota-se que, diferente do estigma que paira sobre o conteúdo da matemática, a ciência que envolve não é distante da realidade e da experiência humana, mas sim, uma parte dela que busca respostas aos problemas comuns da vida. O que faz da matemática como um todo e das equações algébricas, problemáticas comuns da vida e que precisam ser aprendidos e solucionados.

Orientador: Prof. Dr. André Ricardo Oliveira da Fonseca / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal do ABC, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Mestrado Profissional em Matemática em Rede Nacional, 2016. / Esse trabalho aborda o ensino e aprendizagem das Equações Algébricas na educação básica estadual paulista, tema que compõe o currículo oficial do Estado de São Paulo, mais especificamente, o segundo bimestre do terceiro ano do ensino médio. Discorre sobre os aspectos históricos das equações algébricas, as deduções de fórmulas resolutivas das equações até o quarto grau e a impossibilidade de haver fórmulas resolutivas para as equações de grau superior a quatro. Discute-se ainda alternativas para encontrar soluções de equações de grau superior a dois, sem a utilização de fórmulas resolutivas, a partir da pesquisa das possíveis raízes racionais, se existirem, e da diminuição do grau da equação, quando se conhece algumas de suas raízes. Disserta também sobre como o estudo das equações é tratado no material disponibilizado aos alunos do ensino público paulista. Traz, finalmente, algumas sugestões de atividades sobre o tema proposto, além de um estudo de caso realizado com alunos do terceiro ano do ensino médio, em que se faz uma análise dos conhecimentos trazidos por eles de estudos realizados em anos anteriores e uma avaliação formativa durante e após a aplicação das atividades. / This work addresses the teaching and learning of Algebraic Equations in São Paulo state basic education, a subject that makes up the official curriculum of the State of São Paulo, more specifically, the second quarter of the third year of high school. It discusses the historical aspects of algebraic equations, deductions from resolving formulas equations to the fourth degree and the impossibility of resolving formulas for equations of degree higher than four. It is also discussed alternatives to find equations of degree solutions higher than two, without the use of resolving formulas, from the research of the possible rational roots, if any, and the decrease in the degree of the equation when you know some of its roots . It also talks about how the study of equations is treated in the material available to students of the São Paulo public education. It brings finally some suggestions of activities on the theme, as well as a case study in the third year of high school students, in which an analysis of the knowledge brought by them studies in previous years and formative assessment during and after the implementation of activities.
