Símbolos da evolução: dialética de matéria e espírito na mística : uma abordagem a partir de São João da Cruz, Jung e Rahner

The spiritual writings of St. John of the Cross are used as a source of mystical description of the phenomenon. Initially, an interpretation of the concept of spirituality from Analytical Psychology was created. This interpretation – based on the theory of archetypes and the collective unconscious with its biological implications – pointed evolutionism as an important hermeneutical key to the understanding of spirituality and mysticism. Evolutionism, a central issue for Rahner while dialectics in which matter progressively acquires the characteristics of the spirit (self-awareness and openness to the Mystery of God), thus proved a possible link between Jung and Rahner in the analysis of mystical experience. In developing this work central themes were brought in Jung's work (such as the symbolism of the Self , the conjunction of opposites, the alchemy) and compared with the metaphysical concepts used by Rahner. This combination of thought of both authors proportionate the mystical interpretation from an evolutionary point of view, which implied considerations on the most current areas of scientific psychology, especially neuropsychology. The attempted synthesis of broad fields of knowledge that is this dissertation is something important to the current state of science, admittedly fragmentary and scattered on specific topics. This reason justifies a job in the mold of an exploratory study where they stand in general essential and relevant connections between different theories, connections that make more visible the nature of its objects and its relation to human existence. / A dissertação tem como objetivo analisar a experiência mística utilizando o arcabouço teórico do teólogo católico Karl Rahner e do psicólogo Carl Gustav Jung, fundador da Psicologia Analítica. Os escritos espirituais de São João da Cruz são utilizados como fonte de descrição do fenômeno místico. Inicialmente, foi elaborada uma interpretação do conceito de espiritualidade a partir da Psicologia Analítica. Esta interpretação – baseada na teoria dos arquétipos e do inconsciente coletivo, com suas implicações biológicas – apontou o evolucionismo como uma chave hermenêutica relevante para a compreensão da espiritualidade e da mística. O evolucionismo, questão central também para Rahner enquanto dialética na qual a matéria progressivamente adquire as características do espírito (a autoconsciência e a abertura para o Mistério de Deus), mostrou-se, assim, um possível elo de ligação entre Jung e Rahner na análise da experiência mística. No desenvolvimento do trabalho foram trazidos temas centrais na obra de Jung (tais como o simbolismo do Si-mesmo, a conjunção dos opostos, a alquimia) e comparados com os conceitos metafísicos utilizados por Rahner. Esta conjugação do pensamento de ambos autores proporcionou a interpretação da mística do ponto de vista evolutivo, o que implicou em considerações nas áreas mais atuais da psicologia científica, especificamente a neuropsicologia. A tentativa de síntese de campos abrangentes do conhecimento que representa esta dissertação é algo importante para a situação atual da ciência, reconhecidamente fragmentária e dispersa em temas específicos. Este motivo justifica um trabalho nos moldes de um ensaio exploratório onde se destaquem em linhas gerais conexões essenciais e relevantes entre diversas teorias, conexões que tornem mais visíveis a natureza dos seus objetos e sua relação com a existência humana.

Structure de l'acte de foi chez Hans Urs von Balthasar et Karl Rahner

Ce mémoire présente les structures de l'acte de foi développées par Hans Urs von Balthasar et Karl Rahner en les replaçant sur la trame de leurs logiques théologiques respectives. Après une introduction justifiant la pertinence de la question et des théologiens traités, le premier chapitre situe historiquement l'acte de foi selon des perspectives sémantique, biblique, théologique et magistérielle. Le deuxième chapitre, consacré à Balthasar, présente l'acte de foi comme l'eros christique et humain qui répond à l'eros de la Révélation. Chez Rahner, qui fait l'objet du troisième chapitre, la foi est plutôt une reductio in mysterium, un abandon de l'homme au mouvement illimité de sa transcendance. La conclusion présente de manière comparative le positionnement respectif de Balthasar et Rahner par rapport à la théologie de l'acte de foi, et propose une voie pour penser l'irréductibilité du différend entre ces deux auteurs.

Direct experience of God in contemporary theology

'Direct experience of God' is a term frequently used by theologians without adequate clarification regarding its meaning. The understanding thereof has become increasingly complicated by the process of secularization. In the 1960's, it was repeatedly asserted that modern people could not have direct experiences of God, albeit that one could still live by faith and by commitment to the way of Jesus in a world in which, it was asserted, "God is dead". This claim, although long predominant, has been challenged by the upsurge of interest in mysticism, both Eastern and Western, and the burgeoning of Pentecostalism and the Charismatic movement, in which circles direct experience of God was frequently claimed. If direct experience of God is something natural to humanity, interpretation of it will vary in exactly the same way as interpretation of all other human experiences. This could be a possible reason for it being so very poorly integrated into everyday life, resulting in the loss of meaning and value.

La signification salvifique de la mort du Christ

Dans ce mémoire, nous avons voulu répondre, en nous référant à K. Rahner, F.-X. Durrwell et H. U. von Balthasar, à la question suivante: Pourquoi le Christ devait-il faire l'expérience de la mort pour accomplir notre salut? L'analyse ainsi que la synthèse des interprétations de chacun de ces auteurs, ont été élaborées en trois étapes: 1- La mort du Christ considérée dans sa réalité existentielle; 2- La mort du Christ, traduction humaine ultime de son être filial divin; 3- La signification salvifique de la mort du Christ. Cette étude nous a permis d'élaborer la synthèse suivante: En assumant, dans son obéissance filiale, l'expérience de la mort entendue non seulement comme accomplissement de la vie humaine dans l'expérience du vide de la fin corporelle, mais aussi comme solidarité psychique avec le destin eschatologique des pécheurs non rachetés, le Christ a accompli pour nous en sa personne le jugement divin sur le péché du monde, qu'impliquait notre réconciliation avec Dieu. Désormais ressuscité d'entre les morts, il peut, dans l'acte d'amour absolu que fut sa mort - et en lequel il est fixé éternellement -, se communiquer à tous les êtres humains pour qu'ils puissent, en lui, échapper au jugement et avoir de nouveau accès à la vie de Dieu.
