O presente trabalho apresenta algumas hipóteses para explicar as razões que levaram a tal silêncio, seja seu lançamento por uma editora de menor expressão e a concorrência com outro dos livros do autor - Infância -, publicado quase simultaneamente, ou o preconceito contra a literatura infanto-juvenil e o folclore, gêneros ao qual o livro pode ser vinculado. O trabalho procura também apontar suas características de registro original dentro da obra de Graciliano, uma vez que é fiel aos mesmos pressupostos que sustentam o conjunto dessa obra, inserindo elementos do conto maravilhoso e da literatura oral, o que fornece interessantes materiais de análise para a escrita do autor. Ao criar um narrador-personagem cujas ambiguidades determinam diferentes leituras, o livro sugere também discussões sobre a figura do narrador em Graciliano, abrangendo a trajetória do escritor como contista e apresentando novos enquadramentos para sua obra, distintos do binômio ficção/confissão, consagrado por Antônio Cândido. O presente trabalho pretende, por fim, atender à demanda por estudos que contemplem Histórias de Alexandre, demanda esta assinalada por diferentes estudiosos em diferentes momentos de nossa história literária, valorizando-o ao realçar suas qualidades literárias e suas singularidades e propondo alguns caminhos para continuidade desses estudos / Abstract: Ignored by the literary press to the time of its launch in 1945 and relegated to a secondary position behind the remainder of the work of Graciliano Ramos by critics and scholars of literature, Histórias de Alexandre has enjoyed great success among the reading public, since it has appeared, for decades, as the third title best sold among the publications of the alagoano author. The present work includes some hypotheses to explain the reasons for this, such as the fact that it was launched by a more effective publisher, the effect of the popularity of other books by the author such as Infância, which was published almost simultaneously, and the prejudice against childlike or 'folk' literature, which are the literary genres seemingly to exist within the book. This work also tries to point to the characteristics of Histórias de Alexandre as an original register inside the work of Graciliano, because at the same time that it is faithfull to the same propositions that support his entire literary work, it includes elements of the folktale and of the oral literature, which provide interesting materials to assist in the analysis for the writing method of the author. While raising the issue of the use of a narrator-character whose ambiguities determine different ways of reading, the book also suggests discussions about the figure of the narrator in Graciliano's writing, including his trajectory as a short story writer and ways of presenting different framings for his work from the fiction/confession binomial, as consecrated by Antônio Cândido. The present work also intends to encourage the study of Histórias de Alexandre, as different scholars at different moments of our literary history have demanded, valuing it while highlighting its literary qualities and their singularities and proposing some suggestions for ways in which such studies could continue / Mestrado / Teoria e Critica Literaria / Mestre em Teoria e História Literária

Orientador: Kelly Cristiane Henschel Pobbe de Carvalho / Resumo: Esta dissertação apresenta uma proposta metodológica de incentivo à leitura e formação do leitor estético (ECO,2003) Para tanto, realizou-se, pelo viés da dialogia, a recepção do clássico da literatura mundial Alice no país das maravilhas (2002), de Lewis Carroll, e da obra contemporânea Alice no espelho (2006), de Laura Bergallo, com 24 alunos de 7ºano C do Ensino Fundamental II, atendidos pela escola EE Mauricio Milani do município Echaporã, SP. Para fundamentar a proposta de trabalho com leitura e recepção, buscou-se respaldo teórico nos conceitos de letramento de Geraldi (2014), Kleiman (2006), Soares (2001), Rojo (2012, 2013, 2015) e Cosson (2009); nos postulados de Bakhtin (2011), que concebe a linguagem como dialógica; e nos aportes da Estética da Recepção e do Efeito (JAUSS, 1994; ISER, 1996 e 1999). Como estratégia para a leitura e recepção das obras em tela, utilizou-se em sala de aula o Método Recepcional, preconizado por Maria da Glória Bordini e Vera Teixeira de Aguiar (1993). A opção por essa fundamentação justifica-se, tendo em vista o intuito de formar leitores e ampliar os horizontes de expectativas dos alunos do Ensino Fundamental II. Nesse contexto, foi imprescindível refletir criticamente sobre as atividades pedagógicas de modo a não abordar a literatura apenas pelo enfoque tradicionalista, mas sim, valorizar a leitura literária e a práxis de maneira a propiciar meios para que o aluno se tornasse protagonista do processo de sua própria aprendizagem. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This dissertation presents a methodological proposal to encourage reading and the formation of the aesthetic reader (ECO, 2003). To this end, it was held, through dialogue, the reception of the classic of world literature Alice in Wonderland (2002), by Lewis Carroll, and the contemporary work Alice in the mirror (2006), by Laura Bergallo, with 24 students from 7th grade C of Elementary II, attended by the school EE Mauricio Milani of Echaporã, SP. In order to base the work proposal with reading and reception, theoretical support was sought in the concepts of literacy by Geraldi (2014), Kleiman (2006), Soares (2001), Rojo (2012, 2013, 2015) and Cosson (2009); in the postulates of Bakhtin (2011), who conceives language as dialogic; and in the contributions of the Aesthetics of Reception and Effect (JAUSS, 1994; ISER, 1996 and 1999). As a strategy for the reading and reception of the works on canvas, the Receptional Method was used in the classroom, recommended by Maria da Glória Bordini and Vera Teixeira de Aguiar (1993). The option for this rationale is justified, with the intention of forming readers and broadening the horizons of expectations of students in Elementary School II. Por meio de pesquisa em anúncios de livrarias e em artigos publicados em periódicos oitocentistas, reunimos dados sobre a circulação e a leitura crítica desse romance no Brasil, nos primeiros anos após seu lançamento na França (1857) e após o surgimento da tradução portuguesa (1881) até a virada do século. Investigamos também a recepção da obra na França no mesmo período, recepção essa a que certamente tiveram acesso muitos homens de letras brasileiros, considerados o interesse local que havia na época pela cultura francesa e a presença de periódicos franceses em nosso país. Os resultados obtidos foram analisados à luz de processos relevantes na trajetória do gênero romanesco no século XIX, tais como as transformações do público leitor e dos parâmetros de apreciação da prosa romanesca e a circulação internacional dos impressos / Abstract: This thesis aims to investigate the way Madame Bovary (1857), by Gustave Flaubert, was received regarding the process of consolidation of the novelistic genre. It focuses on the changes of the criteria for novels critical evaluation went through along the XIX century, both in France and in Brazil. Surveys on bookshop advertisements and papers published in journals in the 1800s produced data about the circulation and the critical reading of this novel in Brazil, in the few years after it had been launched in France (1857) and after it had been translated into Portuguese (1881) up to the end of that century. The reception of this novel in France in the same period was also investigated, as this certainly had some repercussion among many Brazilian men of letters due to the local interest at the time in the French culture and the presence of French journals in our country.
