The books that comprise it are: "Ler brincando", "Espelho", "Vida na roça", "Trabalho", "Saudade", "Campo e cidade", and "Alegria", from author Thales Castanho de Andrade. The books were intended for teaching and learning in Brazilian schools during the twentieth century. They present similar characteristics among them, instituting a school reading model presented and grouped in the collection, defined from educational, social and cultural values of the early twentieth century. The reading model was designed for isolated rural schools at that time. For the analysis we studied the materiality of books (Chartier); editorial documents regarding policies for acquisition of books between the State and the publishing house; in the search of intended readers, found in the data analysis of the publisher, the author and the books themselves; and the publishing market. According to Roger Chartier (1991), theoretical-methodological support of this Thesis, the methodology is focused on understanding, handling and study of texts, printed in various forms, in their historical and social context, studying the text itself and the folders that support it. Thus, it was sought to understand the text from the reading protocols and to reconstitute the process by which the book makes sense considering the relations among three poles: the text, the object supporting it, and the practice that takes it. This work allows understanding the characteristics of books that make up the Collection and the ways in which it establishes a school reading model. This model was present in the characteristics of books, in their materiality, issues and themes, layout and development of texts and in the educational... / The objective of this research was to determine the responses of Japanese quails and the elaboration of mathematical models based a factorial approach to predict the optimum intake using different levels of valine, isoleucine and leucine. Three experimental trials were carried out using 280 Japanese quails during the laying phase. The experimental design was completely randomized, with eight treatments and seven replicates composed of five birds. Treatments consisted of increasing levels of each amino acid test. Valine levels ranged from 0.196 to 0.941%, isoleucine from 0.170 to 0.815% and leucine from 0.392 to 1.881%. these levels were determined in order to analyze the utilization of these amino acids to meet the Japanese quails requirements (maintenance, response and stability or response plateau). For each amino acid trial, a control level was included in order to confirm the limitation of the respective amino acid test. The experimental period was seven weeks, being 3-week adaptation period and the other four data collection to elaborate the factorial model. The variables studied were feed intake (g), test amino acid intake (g/bird/day), egg weight (g), egg mass (g) and bird weight (g). The performance data were adjusted in the broken line and monomolecular models to determine the necessary parameters for the elaboration of the factorial model, as well as to calculate the amino acid level to optimize the egg mass of the population. The broken line model estimated the maximum response for egg output of 9.49; 9.34 and 9.54 g/day for Val, Ile and Leu, respectively. The efficiencies of utilization estimated were 75, 65 and 55% and the values of a determined were 11, 10 and 221 mg/g for Val, Ile and Leu, respectively. The values of b determined by the monomolecular function were 86, 70 and 147 mg/BWkg0.67 per day for Val, Ile and Leu, respectively. The optimal economic intake of valine estimated by Reading model was 167 mg/bird/day, which will meet 92% of the population, resulting in a gross production margin of 0.0153 bird/day. / FAPESP: 2013/25761-4

Dětský čtenář - dětský básník / Child's Reader - Child's Poet

Perglerová, Jitka January 2018 (has links)
The presented diploma thesis maps the situation of contemporary child's reading. It deals with the factors which form the child reader externally (especially family, school and libraries, or the projects supporting child's reading). The main part of the thesis presents an analysis of the contemporary poetry for children. It examines how the books can influence the readers and motivate them for further reading. For the text analysis, the books of poetry which were awarded in competitions of Zlatá stuha or Magnesia Litera in 2013-2017 were selected as representative samples, namely Poetický slovníček dětem v příkladech, Všelijaké řečičky pro kluky a holčičky and Moře slané vody by Radek Malý, Tetovaná teta by Daniela Fischerová, Vynálezárium by Robin Král and Hlava v hlavě by David Böhm and Ondřej Buddeus. When analyzing the illustrations, attention was paid to the selected books that won the art category of Zlatá stuha and the competition Nejkrásnější česká kniha roku (The Most Beautiful Czech Book of the Year) and to the books representing the model production of the publishing houses of Běžíliška, Meander and series Raketa in publishing house Labyrint. An aspect of illustration was analyzed in the concertina books Rekomando and Ferdinande! by Robin Král and concertina book O čem sní by Petr...

Reading First/Bay State Reading Initiative: Public vs. Private Implementation-Which Produces the Best Results?

Di Leo, Marlene A 13 May 2011 (has links)
The dissertation is a study to determine which program, Reading First or Bay State Reading Initiative, will demonstrate the greatest gains in reading for students in grades K-3 using a 3-Tier Reading Model. The findings from this study are intended to provide pertinent information on which best practices work in increasing student achievement for reading. Education reform continues to be a hot topic at all levels within the United States. With the spending of billions of federals, state and local dollars, the persistent talk of accountability is ongoing. Since NCLB inception, the year 2014 when all students need to reach proficiency in statewide standardized tests in mathematics and reading, continues to be a threatening time period. With each state setting its own definition and determination of what proficiency is, it is measured by the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). This AYP measurement will determine each school’s progress incrementally until it reaches 100% in 2014. 48% of all schools in Massachusetts failed to make their AYP in 2004. It is predicted that by 2014, 90% of schools in Massachusetts will not reach its APY obligation (MassPartners for Public Schools, 2005). With the pursuit of reaching AYP, the search is still on for what best practices work in increasing student achievement. This study utilizes a mixed method research design; including quantitative analysis of the reading scores, a qualitative analysis of teacher and administrator perspective on the effectiveness vii of each program and a financial cost-effectiveness comparison of the two programs. The quantitative research design includes comparing DIBELS and GRADE results of two elementary schools for students in grades K – 3 each of which uses a different reading program. School A uses the Houghton Mifflin Reading Series for their core reading curriculum while School B uses Scott Foresman Reading Street. In addition to comparing the aggregate scores of each school to each other, a number of sub-groups will also be compared. These groups will include low income students (students who receive free and reduced lunch), students with limited English proficiency (LEP), and special education students. Mean comparisons will be utilized to identify which program produces the best results. In order to identify strengthens and weaknesses of each approach a questionnaire will be utilize to obtain this information from teachers and the administrators who took part in implementing both programs. In these times of tight budgets and difficult decisions on how to meet the needs of all students it is imperative that cost effectiveness is examined between the two programs. Which of these two programs will provide the greatest gain? How much will that gain cost? Which program will reap the best results for the least amount of money?

Orientador: Mariângela Spotti Lopes Fujita / Banca: Maria Isabel Asperti Nardi / Banca: Maria Cristiane Barbosa Galvão / Abstract: The teaching of indexing procedures by means of the "Documentary Reading Model for Indexing of Scientific Articles" offers to the apprentice indexer strategies of reading and development of his previous professional knowledgement. The "Documentary Reading Model for Indexing of Scientific Articles by Fujita (2003a) is a proposal of improvement and evolution of the methodology of indexing through the indexer's metacognition (non-automatized behaviour as the reader is conscious of how the reading is being carried out), using the knowledgement of textual structures of the reader, relying on strategies of systematic approach of concepts offered in his education. Considering the learning of the documentary reading process in classroom, it is searched into the applicability of this Model as pedagogical resource to apprentice indexers. By means of introspective technique of data collecting of the Interative Verbal Protocol, observing the process of apprehending the methodology, this research reveals difficulties by the apprentice and his development towards more satisfactory grades of carring out the indexing task. It was chosen three students from the second class of Librarianship that had not attended the discipline "Indexing and Abstracting" and were intested in taking part in the applying of the Verbal Protocol combined with the indexing task. The analysis of the Verbal Protocol's transcriptions shows that the apprentices had difficulties in identifying the concepts of this Model: to choose terms to represent the concepts, to understand the terminology of the medical science and to to set up the terms' form (singular or phrases). Such difficulty is relating to the using of the Reading Model adapted from the original where there was inversion of the concepts action and object.
