Příprava vysokohodnotného sádrového pojiva / Preparation of high-valueable gypsum binder

Hájková, Iveta January 2012 (has links)
This work is oriented on the preparation of high-voluable sulphate binder based on gypsum waste. One of the potential mineral resources in Moravia is Pregips chemical gypsum, produced by Precheza. This is the raw material, which is characterized by high purity, high quality and is economically acceptable. Beta burned gypsum plaster from this, however, need to modify due to suppression of the high needs of water mixing, which is determined by its morphology. The need for mixing water has a large impact on the strength of gypsum binders. Therefore it is necessary to find a suitable additive, which would reduce the coefficient of water in the preparation of porridge normal consistency.

Numerical Modeling and Experimental Studies on the Hydrodynamics and Heat Transfer of Silica Glass Particles

January 2020 (has links)
abstract: Granular material can be found in many industries and undergo process steps like drying, transportation, coating, chemical, and physical conversions. Understanding and optimizing such processes can save energy as well as material costs, leading to improved products. Silica beads are one such granular material encountered in many industries as a catalyst support material. The present research aims to obtain a fundamental understanding of the hydrodynamics and heat transfer mechanisms in silica beads. Studies are carried out using a hopper discharge bin and a rotary drum, which are some of the most common process equipment found in various industries. Two types of micro-glass beads with distinct size distributions are used to fill the hopper in two possible packing arrangements with varying mass ratios. For the well-mixed configuration, the fine particles clustered at the hopper bottom towards the end of the discharge. For the layered configuration, the coarse particles packed at the hopper bottom discharge first, opening a channel for the fine particles on the top. Also, parameters such as wall roughness (WR) and particle roughness (PR) are studied by etching the particles. The discharge rate is found to increase with WR, and found to be proportional to (Root mean square of PR)^(-0.58). Furthermore, the drum is used to study the conduction and convection heat transfer behavior of the particle bed with varying process conditions. A new non-invasive temperature measurement technique is developed using infrared thermography, which replaced the traditional thermocouples, to record the temperatures of the particles and the drum wall. This setup is used to understand the flow regimes of the particle bed inside the drum and the heat transfer mechanisms with varying process conditions. The conduction heat transfer rate is found to increase with decreasing particle size, decreasing fill level, and increasing rotation speed. The convection heat transfer rate increased with increasing fill level and decreasing particle size, and rotation speed had no significant effect. Due to the complexities in these systems, it is not always possible to conduct experiments, therefore, heat transfer models in Discrete Element Method codes (MFIX-DEM: open-source code, and EDEM: commercial code) are adopted, validated, and the effects of model parameters are studied using these codes. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Chemical Engineering 2020

Rotary Joint Module for Lenses on Infrared Camera / Vridledsmodul för objektiv på värmekamera

JOHANNA, DOLK January 2016 (has links)
This work was done on the rotary joint module of handheld cameras in the T-series made by the company FLIR. The rotary joint module holds the lens and controls the angle in relation to the rest of the camera. FLIR’s current solutions for the rotary joint had various module solutions for different camera models and the solutions have individual problems in quality, tolerances and durability. The current solutions differ in which components that are used, in dimensions and what torque is required by the user. The company was looking for a new solution for the rotary joint module; a solution with scalability. This means that the new module were to fit in several camera models with different torques and with lenses of different weight. The torque needed by the user would be quantified by evaluating solutions used today, where these values would be applied when finding a new solution. The dimensions of the module would be in consideration to the dimensions of the earlier solutions and to the interface between the joint and the camera. In the beginning of the project a pre study was made by looking at the current solutions made by FLIR to form requirements. The tools used for this were MATLAB for calculations, SolidWorks for CAD drawings and workshop tools for manual measurements of the torque. To start forming concepts solving the problem a brainstorm was performed where the ideas were visualized using sketches, and later CAD drawings using SolidWorks. These concepts were calculated using MATLAB to find the right dimensions and components. The concepts were discussed using meetings with interested parties, to get feedback on the work and sort out the better concepts. A Pugh’s matrix was used to evaluate the concepts against each other. The final concepts were of two different models; one controlled by dimensions and steel balls, connected to compression springs, clicking into grooves, and the other controlled merely by the friction between two surfaces provided under load from compression springs, where there were no actual click positions. The intention was that these two would have the same torque and they were scalable in the same way; by pre-tensioning the springs in the application to give different loads.
