Caracteres morfológicos e produtivos do algodoeiro em diferentes configurações de semeadura / Morphologic and productive cotton characters indifferent sow configurationAriana Vieira Silva 20 July 2007 (has links)
The main objective of the present work was to study the morphological and productive behavior of cotton line 96/319 under ultra-narrow row, narrow row and conventional row and plants per linear meter. The experiments were carried out in an experimental area belonging to the Instituto Agronômico de Campinas, Campinas city and in commercial agricultural area in Leme city, both in São Paulo state, during the 1999/00 and 2000/01 season. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with six replications, three rows (0,30, 0,60 and 0,90 m between lines) and two densities (7 and 10 plants per linear meter). Four plants per plot were labeled and analyzed for the average plant height, insertion height of the first fruit branch, number of vegetative and fruit branches and open bolls per plant. The cotton yield was determinated in the useful area of each plot and samples of 20 open bolls randomized chosen per plot were analyzed for agronomical lab characteristics (average open boll mass, mass of 100 seeds and fiber percentage) and fiber technological characteristics (length, length uniformity, strength, micronaire and maturity). According to the experimental data obtained it was possible to conclude: cotton yield for the ultra-narrow was average 16% higher than the yields for the conventional row; for row and plant density interaction, higher plant population resulted smaller number of open bolls per plant and higher cotton yield per unit area; smaller row resulted higher average plant height and number of vegetative branches, and smaller number of fruit branches and open bolls per plant; higher plant density resulted higher insertion height of the first fruit branch and number of vegetative branches; smaller row resulted smaller average open boll mass, mass of 100 seeds and fiber percentage; and higher plant density resulted smaller average open boll mass; among fiber technological characteristics, smaller row resulted smaller micronaire and fiber maturity.

Experimentální ověření tuhosti ložisek polohovacího mechanismu pro optickou komunikaci mezi satelity / Experimental bearings stiffness verification of the pointing assembly for optical inter-satellite linkSvoboda, Tomáš January 2021 (has links)
This master´s thesis deals with the determination of the stiffness of a preloaded double-row bearing with an angular contact in the relevant conditions. The introduction describes the basic knowledge about double row angular contact bearings and the relationship between internal clearance, preload and other effects on stiffness. An overview of studies dealing with bearing stiffness and an overview of devices used for experimental stiffness determination is given. Subsequently, the solution itself is described, in which the theoretical calculation of the bearing stiffness was performed first. To determine the experimental values, it was necessary to design and construct experimental device for testing the bearing in the relevant conditions. The effect of material and temperature on the stiffness of the bearing was determined from the measured data and theoretical calculations. The result of this thesis is a functional device, which was used to test the bearing in the thermal chamber.

Effect of Axial Gap Distance on Transonic Compressor PerformanceSadek, Joseph January 2015 (has links)
The modern trend of gas turbines design is towards lighter, highly efficient, and more compact engines. Such situation imposes on engineers to continuouslysearch for improved and optimum designs. The thesis presented aims at researching possible performance improvements regarding axial gapdistance in transonic compressors. Decreasing the axial gap would result inlighter engines and achieve design goals. The influence of decreasing the axialgap on performance and structure integrity should be throughly analyzed. This thesis work includes numerical investigations on the axial gap distance effect on performance efficiency and related unsteady aerodynamics phenomena. The first one and a half compressor stages of a Siemens Gas Turbine are modeled in ANSYS CFX. Different axial gap models are simulated for differentconfigurations. The steady state solution is obtained to be initialized for transient time marching calculations. Furthermore, the computational cost of transient calculations is reduced through a geometry scaling technique. The unsteady behavior is further analyzed by a Harmonic Balance solver implemented in STAR-CCM+ software, and compared to a reference case transient calculations. The results obtained supports the presence of an optimalaxial gap distance for maximum efficiency in transonic compressors. Further, the harmonic balance method shows good possibilities for cost and time reductions in transonic compressors performance calculations.

Individual metering and charging of heat and hot water in row house areas - Comparing study of two row house areas in Stockholm / Individuell mätning av värme och varmvatten i radhusområden - Jämförande studie av två radhusområden i StockholmÅhlander Cevallos, Viktor, Åström, Henrik January 2014 (has links)
In today’s society our residents and premises consume 38 % of the total energy use in Sweden. 2011 that number corresponded to 77,8 TWh/year. Governments and the public’s strive to lower the energy use and the European Union’s goal that all member countries should lower their energy consumption with 20 % until year 2020 creates incentives to renovations and energy efficiency measures. A possible measure that could lead to reduced energy consumption for rental apartments and smaller residences like row-houses is to install individual metering. Individual metering is a method to measure how much energy is consumed in residences. Devices are installed in homes and can measure the water and heat consumption and let the residence pay for what is actually used. In this report the consumption and the costs for heat and warm water and the attitude to individual metering between two row-house areas is investigated. Both areas are located in Stockholm, in Huddinge and Farsta, where one of the areas has installed individual metering. Our study shows difference of the consumption and costs between the two areas. The installation of individual metering has result in a higher awareness for the people living in that area which has led to a reduced consumption and cost. The attitude for individual metering is positive in both areas and unchanged after the installation of individual metering.

An evaluation on the effects of additions and deletions of specific nutrient management strategies on corn yield at different plant densitiesDew, James D 09 December 2022 (has links) (PDF)
Improved management strategies are needed to increase yield production and quality. The study aimed to determine suitable cultural practices for improved corn production. Experiments were set up at Verona and Stoneville, Mississippi, from 2020 to 2022. Treatments included row configurations (single and twin-row), plant populations (79,000 and 99,000 seeds ha-1), and six combinations of nutrients with or without fungicide. The nutrients evaluated were two nitrogen rates 235 and 314 kg N ha-1, phosphorus 45 kg P ha-1, potassium 112 kg K ha-1, sulfur 22 kg S ha-1, and zinc 11 kg Zn ha-1, and fungicide at 272 ml ha-1. In trial 1 (Addition), nutrients were added incrementally, whereas in trial 2 (Deletion) nutrients were withheld in a stepwise manner. Within nutrient treatments, results were erratic among years and sites. Overall, producers must find a balance in terms of yield and profit by taking soil testing and fertilizer prices into consideration.
