Motivace žadatelů k pobytu v domově pro seniory / The motivation of applicants in nursing home

Bláhová, Kateřina January 2014 (has links)
This MA thesis encompasses the motivation of the applicant to apply for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The theoretical part analyses the needs that seniors have, describes the system of care of the elderly and its problems, as well as the limits, motivation and psychosocial aspects of family care of the elderly, and the effect of a retirement home residence on the personality and quality of life of the elderly. The empirical part is formed as a quantitative research with the use of questionnaires. Respondents were selected out of the applicants for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The aim of the empirical part of the MA thesis is to answer the key question of the entire research: what life situation is responsible for the applicant's motivation for applying for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The empirical part describes the research objectives, research methods and research groups and poses the research questions. The received data are than analyzed, and the results are subjected to a critical scrutiny in a discussion. The results of this thesis serve as a basis for creating new projects to encourage seniors to remain at their home environment, and aimed at preventing the placement of the elderly in institutional facilities

Edukace a aktivizace seniorů v zařízení sociálních služeb / Education and activation of seniors in social services facilities

Kratochvílová, Marcela January 2022 (has links)
(in English): This work deals with the selection of educational opportunities for seniors with an emphasis on clients of social facilities, where there are not always enough erudite workers who would be able and willing to prepare activation programs according to the most internal needs of accommodated seniors. The quality of life of a surviving and often seriously ill senior can be maintained or at least slowed down by means of appropriately selected activities so that he feels that his life has meaning until the last moment. In the theoretical part of the work, attention is paid to the main theoretical framework of senior education - gerontagogy and the resulting forms of senior education. On the one hand, these are activities close to the academic environment - academies of the third age and similar, and on the other hand, there is a wide range of activation techniques, of which the greatest scope is given to reminiscence therapy. Simply put, these two groups of educational activities form a kind of imaginary boundary points in the education of seniors - academies of the third age and similar for independent, self-sufficient, sufficiently motivated and vital seniors, while the second group is more targeted at clients of social facilities who suffer a number of limitations, such as health, they...

De Oliveira Batista, Ana Flavia January 2017 (has links)

An Analysis of Economic Understanding and Values of High School Seniors in a Large Metropolitan School District

Holland ,Thomas C. 05 1900 (has links)
The problem of this study was to analyze the economic understanding and values of high school seniors in a large metropolitan school district. To attack the problem, three purposes were formulated. The first purpose was to determine if students enrolled in a one-semester, elective course in economics differed significantly in terms of economic understanding from students enrolled in a comparable non-economic social studies course. Another purpose was to determine if an already existing value orientation had some effect on a change in economic understanding. The final purpose was to see if a change in a particular value orientation was related to a change in economic understanding.

Sexualidade do Idoso: uma revisão sistemática da literatura / The Sexuality of the elderly: a systematic review of literatura

Souza, Mariana Paula de 23 May 2014 (has links)
Old age is a stage of life, which is extremely significant, deserving special attention and care, with great possibilities of continuing sources of pleasure, joy and happiness . However , to reach old age involves several exceedances of obstacles , setbacks and moments that bring us into maturity . Can be considered biologically functional morphology as a regression that affects all major physiological systems to varying degrees . However , the feelings and sensations are stable . Does not prevent the individual from enjoying life active , healthy and happy way, sexuality can be lived to the end. However , prejudice against sexuality of the elderly are diverse . The company maintains the myth of the asexual phase , excluding any of the imaginary experience of sexuality among the elderly , which in turn , believe that sexuality at this stage of life is no longer feeling . Therefore , we feel the need to study and understand how the elderly perceive sexuality . We know that to demystify this subject that permeates prejudices , myths , taboos and erroneous beliefs , it is necessary that health professionals understand the points that should be better worked at the prospect of this population in order to achieve more efficient educational activities in this context . We proposed , in this study , explore , collect , organize , synthesize, and share , through the systematic literature review , the results of primary articles relating to the perception of older people in relation to their sexuality . This is a search based on a descriptive - analytical and documentary study, based on a systematic review of scientific literature on the central theme of this study. By summarizing the main ideas of the selected studies , we identify the extreme situations and from this, we list 04 categories and 02 subcategories or developments : a lack of information about sexuality ; - Aged can not have sexual activity ; - The issues gender in the social context and its influence on the sexuality of the elderly; - factors such as disease , lack of a partner and family influence are reasons that interfere with the experiences of sexuality . Developments as a religion and its influences on sexuality of the elderly; - The physical and hormonal changes complicate the experiences of sexuality . After the results obtained from the research , it appears that the perception of the elderly on sexuality is still confusing , which contributes to a negative view . Becomes evident that there is a gap on the subject and lacking information for debunking that permeate our cultural scene with myths and taboos that hinder the experience and authentic perception of the elderly with regard to sexuality. We understand that only education , along with health professionals such as nurses , can and should assist in demystifying and transforming the repressive gaze of the elderly who deny sexuality , as well as the forerunners of own prejudices that permeate the subject

Honoring Transitions: An Examination of Junior and Senior Honors Student Engagement

January 2019 (has links)
abstract: This action research study took a mixed methods approach to examine junior and senior student engagement at the honors college in the downtown campus of Arizona State University. The purpose of the study was to better understand the lack of engagement with junior and senior students within the college. The study sought to examine the usage of year specific programs and the possibility of influence on the target populations’ engagement. In addition, the study focused on understanding the usage of such programs and its ability to influence student perception of coping with transitions. The growth of honors education and the value of student engagement lead the study. Life Hacks is a series of programs designed to engage the target population by addressing an anticipated transition. This study focused on exploring junior and senior honors student engagement and the utilization of programs to address the student’s ability to cope with transitions. The program was divided into six workshops that spanned the semester and were taught by college partners who were deemed a resource on the subject matter. Two surveys were deployed: one at the beginning of the semester and the other at the end of the semester. Participants were selected based on their academic status as a junior or senior within the honors college on campus and their age rage. All participants traditionally matriculated from high school and were between the ages of 18-25. Two focus groups, with a total of eight participants (4 juniors and 4 seniors), were conducted at the end of the semester to gather qualitative data. Findings indicated that participants allowed their emotions to influence their ability to cope with transitions. Relationships with peers and staff were important to decision making processes and network building for junior and senior participants. Students within the study set expectations for the college and themselves that influence how they relate to college and their relation to adulthood. The implications of practice that resulted from the study involved improving student access to information and assisting students with understanding the need for the resource and how to apply it to their current and future challenges. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Educational Leadership and Policy Studies 2019

Intenção linguística e corporeidade na interação: por um método para a pesquisa sobre o Alzheimer / Linguistic intent and corporality in the interaction: For a method for research on Alzheimer\'s disease

Penha, Tomás Reis Barreto 01 November 2018 (has links)
Although Alzheimer\'s disease (AD) has been discovered more than 100 years ago, many questions about it, especially about its diagnosis, stand the test of time. Some of them, even, have never really been investigated, what applies to the preservation or not, in the affected elderly, of the capacity of understanding pragmatic information. The search for the elucidation of this topic necessarily leads to the development of a method capable of checking how well this capacity is preserved, and that is what this research was done for. With the theoretical foundation provided by the functionalist and cognitivist principles of language, it was demonstrated that the pragmatic function is related to the scopes of cognitive processing, the involvement of corporeity and verbal language. Thus, these domains have been converted into analysis criteria, each composed of three factors that can be evaluated according to a tripartite gradation. From the sum of the results of each of these elements, values are obtained for the performance of the elderly with AD, which, contrasted with the results of cognitively healthy elderly, give clues about the capacity to understand pragmatic information in individuals with dementia. The elaboration of the method, therefore, is the main objective of this work, which also presents its application to a group of six female informants, equally divided between the focal group and the control group, whose results are interpreted mainly for the test of the method. Not much is known about the complexity of language in its loss, and it was intended here to decrease, at least a little, this knowledge gap.
