A quantitative and qualitative research study was conducted to discover what assistors promoted continuous enrollment of women in Texas Even Start Family Literacy programs. 270 women who were enrolled for a second program year or longer anonymously completed a questionnaire that was available in both Spanish and English. Statements regarding which assistors promoted their continuous participation along with demographic statements were included in the questionnaire; free response comments were requested as well. Statistical measurements of factor analysis, frequency response, Chi-Square, and Analysis of Variance were used. Compared to previous research (Quigley, 1997) that identified three categories of barriers, this research identified five categories of assistors: situational, institutional, dispositional, parental, and program specific. Parental assistors, as a group, were statistically significant more than any of the other assistors when measured according to the independent variables of participants' age, children's age, and enrollment level. Institutional and dispositional assistors were found statistically significant when measured according to the variable of participants' age. Post-hoc measures did not reveal statistical significance for any of the levels of the variables. However, free responses from the participants did provide insight as to why parental, institutional, and dispositional assistors were significant in both their lives and the lives of their children.

Master thesis is dealing with the issue of condensate creation and removal from the Nesher Ramle steam turbine during start-up and steady state. At the beginning a preliminary calculation of heat balance and the turbine itself is done. It is followed by description and design of drainage system supplemented by calculation of the steam flow through the orifices. Steam flow calculation was done via S. D. Morris, Pavelek with Kalčík and Ambrož, all three methods were compared. The main goal is the theoretical calculation of the amount of condensate created during start-up which is influenced by its initial state from which it is started. Three default states are considered, cold, warm and hot. In the last chapter the comparison of theoretical calculation with the measured data on real turbine is done and it is supported by the evaluation of the data from the measurement of the steam turbine at steady state on maximum power and half power. From the steady state analysis, percentage of water flow to expander from the total amount of condensate formed in the turbine were obtained.

Orientador: Daniela Ponce / Resumo: Introdução: Poucos trabalhos avaliaram a viabilidade e os resultados entre diálise peritoneal (DP) e hemodiálise (HD) no início urgente de terapia renal substitutiva (TRS). Objetivo: Comparar DP e HD como opções de início urgente de TRS, quanto à evolução, desfechos e complicações dos pacientes. Método: Estudo quasi experimental com pacientes incidentes em DP e HD em hospital universitário brasileiro, no período de julho/2014 a dezembro/2016. Incluídos indivíduos DRC estádio final que necessitaram de TRS imediata, ou seja, HD por meio de CVC ou DP cujo cateter foi implantado por nefrologista e utilizado em 72 horas, sem treinamento prévio. Pacientes em DP foram submetidos, inicialmente, a DP de alto volume (DPAV) para compensação metabólica. Após alta hospitalar, permaneciam em DP intermitente na unidade de diálise até efetivação do treinamento. Foram comparados: complicações mecânicas e infecciosas, recuperação de função renal e sobrevida. Resultados: Foram incluídos 93 pacientes em DP (G1) e 91, em HD (G2). Os grupos G1 e G2 foram semelhantes quanto à idade (58+17 vs 60+15; p=0,49), frequência de diabetes mellitus (37,6 vs 50,5%; p=0,10), outras comorbidades (74,1 vs 71,4%; p=0,67) e parâmetros bioquímicos ao início da TRS – creatinina (9,1+4,1 vs 8,0+2,8; p=0,09), albumina sérica (3,1+0,6 vs 3,3+0,6; p=0,06) e hemoglobina (9,5+1,8 vs 9,8+2,0; p=0,44). (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Background: Few studies have evaluated the feasibility and results of peritoneal dialysis (PD) and hemodialysis (HD) at the urgent-start of renal replacement therapy (RRT). Objective: We compared PD and HD as options for urgent-start of RRT regarding the evolution, complications and outcomes of patients. Method: End-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients who initiated dialysis urgently without a pre-established functional vascular acess or PD catheter were included in a period between July/2014 to December/2016, from a Brazilian single centre. In urgent-start PD, nephrologists performed the Tenckhoff catheter insertions. It was used high volume PD (HVPD) right after 72 hours PD catheter placement, and it was kept until metabolic and fluid control. After hospital discharge, patients were treated with intermittent PD on alternate days at the dialysis unit, until family training. Results: Ninety-three patients in PD (G1) and 91 in HD (G2) were included. In the past, safe and successful completion of a ballistic or space operation was the primary mission of the Range. Under START, the Western Range has the added responsibility of playing a major role in the verification process necessary for a safe reduction of the world's ballistic nuclear weapons. This paper describes the impact of the Treaty on both the Western Range and its users while outlining how the Range has adapted to meet the challenges introduced by the Treaty.

Entrepreneurship is part of the American dream; about 10% of the US work force owns a small business. In a stable economy owners that are focused on product and market development see continuous growth and expansion; however in turbulent economic times businesses are forced to focus on their competitive advantages. For small enterprises, the most valuable asset is the human capital of the firm; nonetheless many start-up founders tend to overlook the importance of administrative issues like human resource management (HRM). This report shall discuss how founders initially approach the employment relations in the start-up, and what effects their choices have in the long run on the business performance. / text

<p> </p><p>sonami AG is a company that is located in the Principality of Liechtenstein. It was founded in 2007. Since then it didn’t gain many customers and it is questionable how long the?company will be able to survive with having that few customers. In order to get rid of the current situation and to achieve a sustainable expansion strategy in the long run sonami asked us for help. The question thus is; how would an international expansion strategy look like.</p><p>In order to answer this question a case study approach was used. Four successful micro companies were interviewed and asked about their international strategy and their recommendations for expanding abroad.</p><p>In addition internationalization literature has been reviewed. Furthermore the concept of strategy, strategic planning and strategic management has been discussed.In the end a framework for sonami was developed. Different approaches, mixed with different recommendations and insights of the case studies were used to develop it.</p><p>The result is that sonami has major problems internally, which should be solved before entering any international path. Our developed framework names several pre‐requisites that need to be fulfilled before moving on to the next step. We have tried to generate a deliberate strategy for sonami. We also recommended sonami to take advantage of opportunities given. This would however mean that sonami would then follow an emergent strategy.??</p><p> </p>
