No. of bitstreams: 1 Ricardo Brandt.pdf: 781933 bytes, checksum: 509321a63f72caaf08d7623e963701f6 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2008-08-21 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Mood states in levels considered adjusted contribute excessively for the best sport income. The objective of the research was to characterize the athletes of the Brazilian National Sailing Team and to evaluate the mood states during the Panamerican Games. This is a descriptive correlacional research that used as instruments the "Questionnaire of characterization, auto-evaluation of the life style, faith spirituality" of Andrade (2001) and the "Brazilian Scale of Mood (BRAMS)" of Rohlfs (2004). The study was made during the Panamerican Games with athletes of the Brazilian National Sailing Team. The collections of the data was made in the Hotel where the athletes were lodged, before and after the regattas and in the place of the competition, after the regattas. Six athletes participated of the study (five men and a woman) by convenience or accessibility, between 19 and 39 years ( x =25 ±3,1) that had competed in different classrooms in the sail (Hob Cat 16, Snipe, feminine masculine Rs:X and, Sunfish and J-24). The results demonstrate that the majority of the athletes presents excellent health, good quality of sleep and rest. The majority of the athletes are Jewish and catholics and believe a little in the aid of a superior being in the solutions of problems, recovery of illness or injury as well as in the sport income. In general way the athletes had presented good mood condition during the competition and the main alterations had been in the levels of anger and tension that, from empirical evidences, is considered that these variable in raised levels, can contribute positively in the sport income and are evident that better quality of sleep has relation with more positive states of mood. We concluded that the mood profile of the athletes of the Brazilian National Sailing Team during the Panamerican Games consists in high levels of vigor and low of fatigue, associates to moderate levels of tension, depression, confusion and extremely raised of anger. To understand better the mood states it is necessary to know deeply the athlete all and the context that surrounds him.

High-performance software packet processing

Fu, Qiaobin 30 January 2021 (has links)
In today’s Internet, it is highly desirable to have fast and scalable software packet processing solutions for network applications that run on commodity hardware. The advent of cloud computing drives the continued rapid growth of Internet traffic. Moreover, the development of emerging networking techniques, such as Network Function Virtualization, significantly shapes the need for implementing the network functions in software. Finally, with the advancement of modern platforms as well as software frameworks for packet processing, network applications have potential to process 100+ Gbps network traffic on a single commodity server. Representative frameworks include the Click modular router, the RouteBricks scalable routing architecture, and BUFFALO, the software-based Ethernet switch. Beneath this general-purpose routing and switching functionality lie a broad set of network applications, many of which are handled with custom methods to provide cost-effectiveness and flexibility. This thesis considers two long-standing networking applications, IP lookup and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) mitigation, and proposes efficient software-based methods drawing from this new perspective. In this thesis, we first introduce several optimization techniques to accelerate network applications by taking advantage of modern CPU features. Then, we explore the IP lookup problem to find the longest matching prefix of an IP address in a set of prefixes. An ideal IP lookup algorithm should achieve small constant IP lookup time, and on-chip memory usage. However, no prior IP lookup algorithm achieves both requirements at the same time. We propose SAIL, a splitting approach to IP lookup, and a suite of algorithms for IP lookup based on SAIL framework. We conducted extensive experiments to evaluate our algorithms, and experimental results show that our SAIL algorithms are much faster than well-known IP lookup algorithms. Next, we switch our focus to DDoS, an attempt to disrupt the legitimate traffic of a victim by sending a flood of Internet traffic from different sources. Our solution is Gatekeeper, the first open-source and deployable DDoS mitigation system. We present a series of optimization techniques, including use of modern platforms, group prefetching, coroutines, and hashing, to accelerate Gatekeeper. Experimental results show that these optimization techniques significantly improve its performance over alternative baseline solutions. / 2022-01-30T00:00:00Z

Die Kathedrale von Jaen

Alonso, María Aranda 06 September 2019 (has links)

Passive Disposal of Launch Vehicle Stages in Geostationary Transfer Orbits Leveraging Small Satellite Technologies

Galles, Marc Alexander 01 June 2021 (has links) (PDF)
Once a satellite has completed its operational period, it must be removed responsibly in order to reduce the risk of impacting other missions. Geostationary Transfer Orbits (GTOs) offer unique challenges when considering disposal of spacecraft, as high eccentricity and orbital energy give rise to unique challenges for spacecraft designers. By leveraging small satellite research and integration techniques, a deployable drag sail module was analyzed that can shorten the expected orbit time of launch vehicle stages in GTO. A tool was developed to efficiently model spacecraft trajectories over long periods of time, which allowed for analysis of an object’s expected lifetime after its operational period had concluded. Material limitations on drag sail sizing and performance were also analyzed in order to conclude whether or not a system with the required orbital performance is feasible. It was determined that the sail materials and configuration is capable of surviving the expected GTO environment, and that a 49 m2 drag sail is capable of sufficiently shortening the amount of time that the space vehicles will remain in space.

Space environmental effects on solar sails / Rymdstrålningens effekt på solsegel

Lindblad Nyman, Erik January 2021 (has links)
As the average temperature on Earth keeps rising and becoming a greater threat to life on Earth, several methods has been proposed to mitigate the effects of elevated temperatures or to lower the Earth's average temperature drastically. One suggestion is a solar sail shade that blocks a portion of the incoming sunlight. There are several difficulties to overcome for such a mission and a demonstrator has been proposed to show the feasibility of solar sail shading. This paper is a study of the space radiations interaction with solar sail membrane, in literature and with calculations of the radiation environment with the aim to investigate the feasibility of the demonstrator. The findings of this paper is that there is not enough to show that the mission will be successful, however it is feasible. The major difficulties are the temperature dependence and the still unknown reaction that thin material, the solar sail membrane, has with the space environment. The core interaction for a solar sail membrane is of an energy level range that has not been relevant in other fields, protons with energy less than 10 keV specifically, thus there is a lack of knowledge in the desired energy range.
