Classe et genre : l’idéal d’une éducation égalitaire pour tous : l’exemple de Fécamp (1806-1906) / Class and gender : the ideal of equitable education for all‎ : the example of Fecamp (1806-1906)

Simon, Elisabeth 11 May 2017 (has links)
The promise of equality for all in education at the time of the Revolution will not be achieved in the following years. France does not have the means to set up education for its ambitions. With Napoleon and the return of the monarchy, the congregations find the privileged position they held under the old regime to supplement these deficiencies. The two main obstacles to equality that are socially and gender difference, and solutions to address these brakes, are studied in this thesis based on the concrete example of the maritime city of Fécamp (Seine maritime, France) from 1806 to 1906 where three congregations, the sisters of Providence of Rouen, the Christian brothers and the sisters of Saint Vincent de Paul, shared education (through schools and orphanages) with teachers and laic personnel.

Hospital optimizer software : allocation of operating rooms to surgeons

Singh, Pankaj Kumar 25 March 2024 (has links)
We study a problem arising in the health system that consists of assigning surgeons to operating rooms in a hospital. This problem occurs at the Brockville General Hospital and was brought to us by our industrial partner Thales Digital Canada. The assignment of surgeons to operating rooms is subject to different constraints. The rooms must be properly equipped to satisfy the needs of the surgeon. The demand for each surgeon specialty must be fulfilled. The operating room should be used at their full potential. Finally, surgeons should have regular schedules, i.e. they should have similar schedules week after week. This problem is studied in the literature, but as it is often the case with operation research problems that occur in the health system, it was studied with variations that are not suited for the Brockville General Hospital. We therefore explain what is done similarly and what is done differently in the literature. This thesis introduces a methodology that utilizes constraint programming to allocate operating rooms to surgeons. A specialized software has been developed to create schedules of variable lengths. This software takes as input a set of requirements and generates a schedule that assign surgeons to operating rooms. A Large Neighbourhood Search iteratively improves the solution until the quality of the solution is satisfactory. The experiments conducted demonstrate that one can obtain satisfactory results in a few minutes. These schedules significantly enhance the utilization rate of operating rooms. We compared two versions of our software and showed that none dominates the other. However, we propose as a future work that these two versions could be combined into one in order to take advantage of both techniques.

The use of cinema as educational practice significantly facilitates the dialogue between curriculum content and the more general knowledge. The analysis of images and tools used by seventh art contribute to the development of critical understanding of the world and new forms of entertainment and thus the formation of the citizen. From the problematization of the cinema as able to transform the spectator into player and bolstered by theoretical supports Rosalia Duarte, Jacques Aumont and Robert Stam, among others, this research seeks to introduce paths for a pedagogical practice involving the film and school. In addition, presents a significant set of discussions and ideas that allow the formation of the reader, from a phenomenological analysis of tree films by Walter Salles, "Foreign Land" (1995), "Central of Brazil" (1998) and "Behind the Sun" (2001), as well as comment from other directors who influenced the field of film studies, art, culture and aesthetics. This dissertation seeks a response of dimensions that this theme, the cinema, has influenced the formation of the reader, search also the expansion of the concept of reading from a cinematic experience where the Viewer is participatory and recognize the language tags and the knowledge gained throughout their schooling. Search still incorporate the art of cinema to the cultural repertoire of the spectator, increasing, so your potential in a critical and reflective stance in life.

O pensamento econômico de Francisco Salles, João Pinheiro e João Luís Alves e o desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (1889-1914) / The economical thought of Francisco Salles, João Pinheiro and João Luís Alves and the development of Minas Gerais (1889-1914)

Oliveira, Marcos Fabio Martins de 22 October 2012 (has links)
The object of analysis of this thesis is the economical thought of three politicians of the Minas Gerais state, in the first decade of the twentieth century. We analyzed how Francisco Salles, João Pinheiro e Joao Luís Alves equated protectionism and diversity, while developing ways to the state of Minas Gerais, through speeches and agreements that made the Agricultural, Industrial and Commercial Congress of 1903 that took place in Belo Horizonte. The intention is showing how the academic formation of the characters mentioned resulted in ideas close to developmentalism. However, they didnt have the expected results to the state of Minas Gerais because, they werent and/or couldnt been applied for reasons to political ambitions of Minas Gerais, in the period we can call Hegemonia Sul-mineira. In this way measures of cooptation policy marked the administrations of Minas Gerais between 1898 and 1914, impossibiliting the adoption of economic planning agreeded in the mentioned Congress

Identidades imaginárias: um estudo comparado do livro A máquina de fazer espanhóis, de Valter Hugo Mãe, e do filme Terra estrangeira, de Walter Salles e Daniela Thomas / Imaginary identities: a compared study of the book \"A máquina de fazer espanhóis\", by Valter Hugo Mãe, and the movie \"Terra estrangeira\", by Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas

Fabrio, Paula 17 September 2015 (has links)
The novel by valter hugo mãe, a máquina de fazer espanhóis, brings the discussion about the identity fragmentation of Portuguese people, revealing the discomfort in front of the social economic situation since the post-Salazar period and in the face of the context of neoliberal globalization, as well as its relation with hegemonic blocs of power and the former colonies. The motion picture Terra estrangeira, by Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas, dialogues with the globalization scenario of Mãe\'s work and suggests a reflection about the identity fragility of the Brazilian people during the Collor government and, consequently, the phenomenon of the immigration to Europe. Comparing both works, especially the historic periods and the differences of narrative focus, this study examines the relations between peoples identity and representation of History by literature and cinema.
