A preliminary examination of teacher development in farm schools through an illuminative evaluation of a teacher development course implemented by the 1820 Foundation Farm School Project

Gale, Frances January 1989 (has links)
The 1820 Foundation INSET Farm School Project is described in order to set the context in which this illuminative evaluation of a Teacher Development course took place. The concepts of training, education and development are discussed and it is suggested that the term 'education' encompasses a training-development continuum. The design and implementation of the Teacher Development course, which attempts to promote both personal and professional development, are presented, and the facilitator discusses i) her attempt to encourage teacher control of the course and, ii) the factors which mitigate against teacher control. The decision to use the illuminative evaluation method is placed in the context of interpretive research methodologies, and the methods of data collection are discussed. A wide range of data sources is used, but primary importance is attached to i) a questionnaire administered to the five teachers involved and ii) a group interview and individual interviews with the teachers. Factors which emerge in the illumination of the data indicate that teacher control of development courses in farm schools in the Eastern Cape is problematic, that the teachers' preference is for professional development, and that development seems to take place through implementation of training strategies.

The Dissemination of the class project throughout primary school : a question of social influences between teachers ?

Boncompain, Lucile 19 December 2014 (has links)
The school project is based on official documents as is officially considered the guideline that should motivate the teaching staff. Research (Dubet, 1992; Rich, 1998, 2010; Gather Thurler, 2000) has shown that school projects, even if they are official, do not always become reality. This thesis proposes to take the perspective of classroom practice and not to begin with what the official texts require. Might not the process of dynamism within schools take its roots in the dissemination of class projects toward other classes or even the entire school? The phenomena of dissemination, if they indeed exist, are studied through the theories of social influence (Moscovici, 1979, 1984, and Mugny Perez, 1993). Can class projects influence other classes and even the entire school? This is the main question addressed in this work. The methodology of the study includes a preliminary investigation from eight exploratoryinterviews and a thorough quantitative phase with 166 questionnaires followed by another qualitative phase composed of 20 interviews. By crossing the data, the results point to a phenomenon of influence. Types of teacher behavior are also revealed through these mechanisms. This work analyzes these types of behaviors and the functioning of specialgroups in some schools.

Výtvarná výchova jako předmět spojující a rozvíjející / Art education as a connecting and developing subject.

Filcíková, Veronika January 2020 (has links)
The theoretical part deals with the development of children's drawing as a basic understanding of the developmental stages of the child to better determine the workflow in creating a curriculum or project connecting art education and other subjects. It also deals with the embedding of art education in the framework educational program and cross-sectional topics. Various art exercises are proposed for presented topics. The didactic part is devoted to organizational forms of teaching and the definition of the concept of interdisciplinary teaching. In the practical part, two authorial and one adopted project are then analyzed - art education is used in those projects as a connecting element of teaching. In the Kafkomix project, art education is connected with the Czech language, specifically with work The Transformation by Franz Kafka. In the project The Road to Freedom, students are introduced to the history of communism in our country and to the events related to the Velvet Revolution through visual documentation. Part of this project is also an analysis of a questionnaire survey, which was done to determine the level of memorized material by students. ZE MĚ MY project, presents how the project can works across schools. KEY WORDS Interdisciplinary teaching, project teaching, interconnection of...

Elevers uppfattningar kring bedömningsmatriser i svenska

Nordman, Cristina January 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to examine pupils’ perceptions and experiences of scoring rubrics in Swedish. The essay is part of a of school development project focusing on knowledge, assessment and on the Individual Development Plan, at Fäladsgården, a compulsory school, in Lund, Sweden. In the survey, I want to achieve a deeper understanding of how pupils perceive and use scoring rubrics, and what they need to obtain a constructive feedback.Eleven qualitative interviews with pupils in school year seven and nine were carried out in December 2008 and January 2009. These pupils’ views are the basis for the paper. The results of the survey show that the pupils’ perceptions of the scoring rubrics are basically positive, but that they are asking for additional comments on it. They also want more time to familiar with the meaning of the scoring rubrics. The conclusions of this essay, which have generated a theory of the importance of the activity and a working model, may well indicate the continued development of this particular school and other schools, which use scoring rubrics for enhanced learning.

Problematika výuky dřevin na 1. stupni ZŠ / Timber species education of the elementary School

Hladíková, Hana January 2011 (has links)
The main objective of this thesis is the preparation and realization of project about timber species for pupils attending fourth grade of elementary school. Introductory chapters present basic curricular documents about environmental education. The author analyses elementary school textbooks focusing on naturalistic topics and finds out the ways in which the subject matter of timber species is covered in textbooks of fourth and fifth grade of elementary school. In the chapter Characteristics of Rieger's Park, the author examines the history of the park and mentions woody species to be found on the park's territory. One part of the thesis deals with results arising from questionnaire survey carried out at schools in the adjacent park surroundings. The main purpose of the questionnaire survey was to find out how much interest there is in the project dealing with issues of timber species in Rieger's Park. The author set the objective at the same time of finding out what form of the project would be the most convenient for teachers of the selected schools. Practice-oriented part contains the project "Timber Species in the Rieger's Park". Four walks to the Rieger's Park in different seasons of the year with accompanying working sheets made stand for the basis of the project. In the final part of the...

The main thematic that led this work was the construction of school educational project - PEE - in the context of a marajoara riverside school, located at the city of São Sebastião da Boa Vista in the archipelago of Marajoara, state of Pará. The central objective was to evaluate the participation of riverside school community in the preparatory meetings for the construction of the educational project school. The use of action-research provided the use of a methodology that enabled a dynamic, participatory and meaningful process to change the school environment. The development of this proposal is justified primarily by two points: at first, the importance of PEE to strengthen democratic governance in the pursuit of school autonomy; second, because the local school community have never experienced a collective process of such importance. The legacy of this research is the learning process of everyone involved, once the school community had the opportunity to reflect on their practices, as well as the importance of effective participation of the family and, above all, rethink the process of building and / or ownership knowledge.
