No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 1375388 bytes, checksum: dd9bc9c6b58bce06dcbd6cf754f6ca83 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-06-10 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / In Brazil, currently the education sector has been undergoing transformations involving from curriculum reform to implementation assessments at the national level to identify the hot spots of high school. This work aims to analyze the teaching process learning in Geography in high school, with the empirical basis of the analysis state schools Calpurnia Caldas de Amorim and Educational Center José Augusto, and private Diocesan College Seridoense and Integrated Educational Center Seridó, both located in the city of Caicó, State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The issue that aroused the interest in research is anchored in the poor performance of students in the discourse of vestibular tests in UFRN, and the time frame the period between 2002 and 2012. In terms of methodology, the research was based on bibliographic research, documentary, interview written with the Geography teachers of educational institutions, as well as visits at different times to those schools. The results indicate that the teaching staff is made up of graduates in Geography, all with over 20 years of experience in the class room and experts. In addition, it was found that there is virtually no planning, teachers just follow the contents proposed in the textbook or the guidelines of education systems. Another item that deserves to be highlighted concerns the evaluation instruments, because while it predominate objective assessments in schools, vestibular students were also subjected to essay questions, and these mostly developed in context and with different languages. Therefore, not diversification of these instruments in schools may have contributed over the years so that students were able to unsatisfactory results.

Implicações da progressão continuada e do SARESP na avaliação escolar: tensões, dilemas e tendências / Implications of continued learning progression and Saresp on school evaluation: tensions, dilemmas and tendencies.

Paulo Henrique Arcas 08 May 2009 (has links)
This research has served the purpose to investigate the implications of continuous progress and Student Performance Appraisal System in the State of São Paulo (SARESP) on school evaluation. We have identified and analyzed alterations on the evaluations which were induced by the implementation of these procedures. Therefore, we proceeded to investigate the qualitative nature of these implications by analyzing data from academic research around both topics; we also applied some questionnaires and interviews with coordinators from schools of a Regional Directory in the local public school system. We have come to the conclusion that both the continuous progress and SARESP affect school evaluation. The continuous progress has a tendency to affect rather the discourses than the evaluative practices and teachers are much more resistant to it. SARESP has gradually taken up the role of a practice guide and it is used for school planning. We can see its effect on evaluative practices invigorating some conception of school assessment to the loss of formative evaluation which has been maximized by continuous progress. The dilemma that has arisen from these two procedures sheds some light on the confrontation between the logic of formative evaluation and traditionally-developed practices at schools which tend to narrow evaluations to mere results in order to achieve classification. SARESP, when it serves as a guide to the organization of school and evaluative practices, maximize the tension between traditional and formative evaluations. Due to its relevance in the educational politics, it is evident that it will gradually become an organizer for school practices.

Appraisal as an instrument to facilitate the development and school improvement in Daveyton schools.

Mkasi, Jones Freddy 14 October 2008 (has links)
M.Ed. / Appraisal seems to be a relevant instrument to facilitate the professional growth of educators and school improvement. However, if the process of appraisal is to be part of the development of educators and of schools, it needs to be part of the pattern of school life and linked to the school’s developmental activities. It needs to be context-based within the legal framework provided by the Department of Education (DoE). Appraisal should be a natural progression from the staff development and school development planning. Staff and professional strategies should enable schools and educators to gain skills and understanding, necessary to participate in appraisal. Appraisal should be set in the context of the objectives of the schools which will generally be expressed in a school development plan. The school’s objectives in a particular year, should be linked with appraisal, so that for example, professional development targets arising from appraisal, may be related to agreed targets and tasks in the development plan. This will help to speed up the process of facilitation of the professional growth of educators. A school which is self-developing and self-evaluating, is likely to be one in which all educators exchange ideas, share concerns, contribute to discussion, take part in the process of decision-making and have individual areas of strength and weaknesses identified and supported (Jones, 1993:10). In basic terms, the facilitation of appraisal will assist with the setting of whole school targets and identification of professional needs. / Dr. P.J. du Plessis

A Sustainability Themed K-5 Magnet School: An In-Depth Case Study And Evaluation

Lichau, Aleidria R. 01 January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is a descriptive case study of the first sustainability magnet themed elementary school in the U.S., the Sustainability Academy (SA) in Burlington, VT. The thesis provides an in depth case study narrative of the first pilot year of the SA (2009) as well as an examination of the analytical frameworks for evaluating the efficacy of sustainability movements in schools. A literature review is provided to distinguish between a type of static sustainability that supports the current educational paradigm and a type of sustainable education that identifies sustainability as a moving target and a deep process to transcend the current education paradigm. A step-by-step process for school evaluations of sustainability education is explored and discussed using: 1) the case study research of the SA in their pilot year; 2) the literature review on education and sustainability, systems thinking and school transformation; and 3) the exploration and adaptation of analytical frameworks for sustainability in education.

POLÍTICAS EDUCACIONAIS, AVALIAÇÃO E DESEMPENHO ESCOLAR: A REDE MUNICIPAL DE EDUCAÇÃO DE GOIÂNIA.

Milano, Lydia Godoy 03 September 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-07-27T13:44:42Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 LYDIA GODOY MILANO.pdf: 1048084 bytes, checksum: 445fc67e69f7144603a3ee67e2bdccfe (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-09-03 / The reforms in the Brazilian Educational System that started in 1990 s culminated in various changes and educational concepts with the monitoring of school performances through a large-scale evaluation system. In such a way that the evaluation results measured by IDEB (Basic Education Development Index), since its implementation, has been showing a relative growth in every stage of education, however it still shows low results in school development. Since this has been observed, the aim of this study has been to find explanations and a more grounded comprehension about the failure of the public schools in Brazil, concerning the educational outcome of the pupil, having as reference a database from a municipal system of teaching. This study was based on the analysis of official documents related to education policies for the school and on field research in two municipal schools in the city of Goiânia, where observations of the routine of these schools took place as well as interviews with head teachers, deputy head teachers and teachers. The results confirm the hypothesis that one of the strongest explanations for the low pupil s performance in the standard examinations is precisely in the fact that the education policies as based on the results, hold the teachers accountable for the unsatisfactory pupil s performance, and release them from the internal factors that interfere in the pupil s learning. It also confirms some authors position that in opposition to those policies, recommend not to lose from sight the organisational conditions, the curriculum, the pedagogical practices, teaching methods and so on, when analysing the success or failure conditions, which are real and concrete conditions that produce the learning and development of the pupils.

The objective of this research is to discuss the theoretical production surveyed at the Digital Library of Thesis and Dissertations which deal with school dropout and higher education evaluation produced after 1990. After this period, a great increase in the amount of private higher institutions in Brazil was observed. However, researches show that families have been unable to afford their children s education, among other factors that result in dropping out. The methodology adopted in this work was based on a state-of-the-art research referred to as bibliographical investigation, which helps us discuss and map out academic production, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. The results of the bibliographical investigation on school dropout rates show that, among the most diverse areas of Science, there is a gap or dispersion in theoretical and methodological debates about this issue and few teaching institutions, whether public or private, have specific programs to handle the problem of school dropout.

Στεργιόπουλος, Χαράλαμπος 27 August 2009 (has links)
In recent years, under the influence of International Institutes and the EU, initiatives have been taken in Germany and Finland concerning the quality assurance and quality development of education at both the level of the school system and the level of the individual school. In the present study a comparative approach of the German and Finnish educational systems is attempted, in the paradigm of educational school evaluation, focusing on the primary education in Germany (Baden-Wuertemberg) and in Finland. The two countries constitute members of the EU with strong social welfare system but with specific historic and national heritage and different social, economic and political background.
