Probabilistic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics with Schrödinger Quantization Rule

Dwivedi, Saurav 04 March 2011 (has links) (PDF)
Quantum theory is a probabilistic theory, where certain variables are hidden or non-accessible. It results in lack of representation of systems under study. However, I deduce system's representation in probabilistic manner, introducing probability of existence w, and quantize it exploiting Schrödinger's quantization rule. The formalism enriches probabilistic quantum theory, and enables system's representation in probabilistic manner.

Marin, Laurent 23 November 2009 (has links)
In this thesis, we study the dynamics of discrete, one-dimensional, sturmian Schrödinger operators. The main result is a dynamical bound from above for transport exponents that valuate speed of the wavepacket spreading. This bound is true for almost every sturmian potential and is sub-ballistic for a coupling constant big enough. This bound is valid with respect to a diophantine condition on the irrational number that define the potential. This condition is true for almost every irrational numbers. We show an example of irrational number with ballistic motion at any coupling constant. We study the fractal dimension of the spectrum of these operators which can bound from below, under more restrictive assumptions, transport exponents. We get a new bound from below for the box dimension of the spectrum. Assumptions needed to use this bound on dynamical purpose are the initial condition to be cyclic and the potential associated to a bounded means irrational number. In the last part of the thesis, we show that the spectrum of the operator associated to the so-called silver mean ß = [2, 2, . . . ] has a hyperbolic structure. The spectrum can be express as the non wandering set of a dynamical system. Using Markov partition method, we conjugate its dynamics to a symbolic one. The dynamical system behave like a Smale horseshoe. We derive from hyperbolicity spectral information, especially on fractal dimension. For example, we get that Hausdorff and box dimensions coincide for this operator.

Schrödinger Operators in Waveguides

Ekholm, Tomas January 2005 (has links)
In this thesis, which consists of four papers, we study the discrete spectrum of Schrödinger operators in waveguides. In these domains the quadratic form of the Dirichlet Laplacian operator does not satisfy any Hardy inequality. If we include an attractive electric potential in the model or curve the domain, then bound states will always occur with energy below the bottom of the essential spectrum. We prove that a magnetic field stabilises the threshold of the essential spectrum against small perturbations. We deduce this fact from a magnetic Hardy inequality, which has many interesting applications in itself. In Paper I we prove the magnetic Hardy inequality in a two-dimensional waveguide. As an application, we establish that when a magnetic field is present, a small local deformation or a small local bending of the waveguide will not create bound states below the essential spectrum. In Paper II we study the Dirichlet Laplacian operator in a three-dimensional waveguide, whose cross-section is not rotationally invariant. We prove that if the waveguide is locally twisted, then the lower edge of the spectrum becomes stable. We deduce this from a Hardy inequality. In Paper III we consider the magnetic Schrödinger operator in a three-dimensional waveguide with circular cross-section. If we include an attractive potential, eigenvalues may occur below the bottom of the essential spectrum. We prove a magnetic Lieb-Thirring inequality for these eigenvalues. In the same paper we give a lower bound on the ground state of the magnetic Schrödinger operator in a disc. This lower bound is used to prove a Hardy inequality for the magnetic Schrödinger operator in the original waveguide setting. In Paper IV we again study the two-dimensional waveguide. It is known that if the boundary condition is changed locally from Dirichlet to magnetic Neumann, then without a magnetic field bound states will occur with energies below the essential spectrum. We however prove that in the presence of a magnetic field, there is a critical minimal length of the magnetic Neumann boundary condition above which the system exhibits bound states below the threshold of the essential spectrum. We also give explicit bounds on the critical length from above and below. / QC 20101007

Localisation dynamique et égalité des conductances de Hall pour des opérateurs de Schrödinger magnétiques aléatoires / Dynamical localization and equality of the Hall and edge conductances of magnetic Schrödinger operators

Taarabt, Amal 26 September 2013 (has links)
The first part of this thesis is devoted to the study of spectral properties of dynamical localization for Schr\"odinger operators and their classification. We introduce three classes of equivalent properties and investigate the relationships between them in an optimal way. Moreover, some of these properties have been shown to play a crucial role in the mathematical proof of several phenomenon of physical interestsuch as the quantization of the Hall conductance and the existence of the plateaux due to localized states. Then, we are interested in the bulk and edge Hall conductances for continuous models in the presence of magnetic and electric walls. We explain how the walls come into play in order to define the edge conductance, taking into account the contribution of localized states and the regularization that a disordered media requires. We prove the equality of these conductances by deriving one from the other, and not by separate quantization.

Aspects of two dimensional magnetic Schrödinger operators: quantum Hall systems and magnetic Stark resonances

Ferrari, Christian 06 June 2003 (has links) (PDF)

By following recent papers in the literature, the present work aims to study dynamical bounds for one dimensional discrete Schrödinger operators with Sturmian potentials by bounding the rates of propagation of the wavepacket. By a method developed by Damanik and Tcheremchantsev, is obtained a non trivial upper bound for almost all Sturmian Schrödinger operator associated with irrational numbers. Moreover, it presents a global lower bound for the upper box counting dimension of the spectrum of these operators, which is used to obtain a lower dynamical bound for such Sturmian Schrödinger operators associated with bounded density irrational numbers. Will be used results about the traces of transfer matrices and spectral properties of Sturmian Schrödinger operators. / FAPESP: 2014/04321-9

Akkouche, Sofiane 19 November 2010 (has links)
This thesis deals with the spectral theory of discrete Schrödinger operators H(λ) := - Δ + b on Zd and more generally on in#nite weighted graphs. Precisely, we study the behavior of the spectral functions which represent the spectral bounds of these operators. One of the main results is the obtention of a necessary and sufficient condition on the potential b such that the bottom of the spectrum is stricly positive. The study of the top of the spectrum is also treated. We first study these questions for discrete Schrödinger operators on Zd. The regularity of this space provides specific results in this particular case. Then we extend our work to the case of infinite weighted graphs. Moreover, the technics developed in this framework allow us to study the asymptotic behavior of the bottom of the spectrum for large values of λ.

Statistiques spectrales d'opérateurs de Schrödinger aléatoires unidimensionnels / Spectral statistics for one-dimensional random Schrödinger operators

Shirley, Christopher 27 October 2014 (has links)
In this thesis, we will prove decorrelation estimates of eigenvalues for several models of random Schrödinger operators in dimension one, in the localized regime, provided we have Wegner estimates. This will allow us to study spectral statistics. We will begin with the presentation of the hypotheses needed in our proofs and the models under consideration. We will continue with the study of the Minami estimates, which can be seen as decorrelation estimates of close eigenvalues. We will show that, in dimension one and in the localized regime, they are the consequences of the Wegner estimates. The results proven here have a area of validity smaller than the usual Minami estimates, but it will suffice for our study.Next, we will study the decorrelation estimates of distant eigenvalues for the models under consideration. We will show that they are consequences of the Minami estimates and the Wegner estimates, in the localized regime. The proofs will be different from one model to another.Eventually, we will show that these results allow us to study spectral statistics in the localized regime. For instance, the decorrelation estimates will be used to prove that the local energy level statistics, taken at two distincts energy levels, converge weakly to two independent Poisson processes on $\R$ with intensity the Lebesgue measure.
